  1. Thanks for the positive feedback guys, much appreciated
  2. Lovely that. My favourite old school jag too. Always reminds me of inspector morse when i see one. Rip john thaw.
  3. Hi I'd like to take part? I have the eduard limited 1/48 mig 21 mf czech markings, there are several to choose in the kit - from women/pin-ups, dragons heads or sharkmouths even. Also One of the options from the silver arrows boxing - an R model, has a fire breathing green dragon all the way along the side. Too many to choose from. Or a vf 101/111 tomcat with a toothy grin
  4. As Keith Lemon would say, - Bang tidy! Good effort pal
  5. Bonjour! That looks great I fancy building a rafale and this might just do it!
  6. Last few and a couple more in B&W similar to 'the money shot'
  7. As promised- Undersides. Kept it light just some subtle streaks and earth. I actually find this (subtlety) trickier to do than heavy weathering. Like goldilocks - Too little, too much, just right! 😂😂😂
  8. And just noticed there are no pics of the underside! Will remedy that later...
  9. Thanks for the positive comments guys! And yes the Vallejo metal colour is really easy to use. Although i'm now staying away from their metal color varnish. I couldn't get it to work for me. Straight out the bottle was too thick and was still tacky to touch after 2 weeks, thinned slightly it would just bead up and not stay together for a decent shine. From now on when working with these (metal color) I use alclad Aqua gloss Inbetween decals and weathering stages etc. Although just seen mikes review about that ak gauzy stuff, so may be tempted to experiment on some future builds. Typical just bought an fresh aqua gloss yesterday!
  10. Where did/do you see that Roman? I have the royal class boxings and the fuselage halves for the R2's do have the armour moulded on. So they have the tooling and i'd be very surprised if they released the r2 boxing with the std fuselages in it? Edit: A quick check on the eduard site for this kit does show plates on the sides in the sprue shots...
  11. @PLC1966 Yeah I totally agree with you pal on that, and as i said stencils are necessary most of the time esp during war... However from what i've read and understand about this plane it was just a 'toy' at the farnborough airbase after the war so wouldn't have flown that much or gone that far. So its just a theory of mine about trying to understand why it appears there are no stencils on the plane...
  12. Right I'm pretty much calling this one done. (As want to get on with other stuff) Canopy and u/c on, rigging finished also. In terms of further weathering - Some oil stains addded in the exhaust flow, Pigments to u/c and some light chipping here and there. Pics will be taken over the weekend and will compose an RFI thread.
  13. Some pics from when i was working on it. I got the seatbelts to behave better where they are curling around the rod after these pics were taken - you can see them looking better on the finished build above. photo hosting
  14. Some pics of the work from the weekend, not as much as i would have liked to have achieved. Main things added are oil/fuel streaks, exhaust stains (tamiya dark grey with some flat base then a bit of black in the centre and closest to pipes. Some streaking on the still remaining camo areas (flaps for example) and made a start on the antenna line, although not happy with attachment to little the etch piece on the fin top, i tied it on with a knot but looks too big so need to find another way... pic host
  15. Yeah I've also had better results with metal color spraying it quite 'dry'. (Increase pressure & distance) I have noticed it can pool if sprayed too heavy or 'wet' so to speak, more so on a glossy surface.
  16. Nice info mate cheers. Reference material is everything. Wasn't trying to upset the apple cart or rock the boat. Seen many built models of this already on the internet with shiny silver paint jobs and and red 8. When I researched it (as it has been two of eduards options now) and came across the pics of the real deal (your blogspot funnily enough) I thought it was more of a rough looking, sanded back grey and a black 8. So thats what im doing as that is just my interpretation. I'm not trying to win prizes or enter competitions i just do it for fun. If I build it again in another (hopefully larger) scale then I will go for the red 8 next time 👍🏻 Ps falke what is your take on the photo and apparent difference in tone of the red 8 and red band?
  17. Fair enough... I thought I'd go for black because it looks that way in the b&w pic in contrast to the band. Plus it will look great in b&w photos Its been a challenge and fun to try and get a 'sanded' look. Perhaps a bit too coarse for 1/48, because some of the scratches/scuffs look too big. Might be one to do again in 1/32 in the future if i live long enough what with the size of the stash and all.
  18. Ah-ha! but its not 'all metal'. Or is it? Who knows? Anyone got a DeLorean? Or know Doc Brown?
  19. Been playing with some oils to 'fade' and sofen the red and black. Done some general grime and streaking too but not too much as plane is supposed to be somewhere in the process of having its paint sanded off Also some ak kerosene/fuel stains added upload pics
  20. @wyverns4 - good spot with the tip of the tank. Might be white? Like you say dont think its a shadow line, drop tank is too far under the plane or sun would have to be at a really low angle to catch the tip like that... Funny how we don't notice things staring us in the face!
