Very interesting - so most likely the prop was removed from the stuck shaft? I know she left dry dock with just three sea worthy props, and one that was dead, so I guessed to save drag she would have had the prop removed from the dead shaft. I can imagine this and see it in my mind a prop-less performance would be better if the shaft and support was without the dead prop. WM.

Thank you for that - what has led to the question is that I am currenly re-working the hull and in the process I managed to break one of the blades off on one of the props, although this happened to starboard outer one(and i understand warspite lost her outer port one that was never fixed even in drydock at Rosyth Dockyard). But i should be able to swap them over and if the dead prop shaft did have her propeller left inplace?, this will be an easy mod by just keeping it off the model. WM.

Has no one got any ideas about this please? WM

Folks I am building The Grand Old Lady but I have a quiry that may be aimed at most warships of WW2, If a ship came into port to have repairs done and say she had a bent/broken prop shaft that could not be repaired, if she was sent back into service but with the dead shaft would the propeller on the dead shaft be removed as I assume it might cause drag? Any ideas folks please. WM.

On the forum where my build is there was a link to a chap who has been restoring the original and One Off Ship writes model of HMS Warspite, its a mammoth build some 18ft long I think, I have some great photos off the restoration - They are Amazing just like the real ship all metal and wood. I am sure the chap restoring her wont mind me putting a few on here if its allowed by the mods? Let me know. WM. -

Looking really nice - can I ask you please, with the two tone camo on the hull sides, where you used masking tape how come you got a smooth join between the two colours? i masked up mine with same blue low tack tape and hand brush painted as i do not posess a sprayer, any tips please on getting a smooth edge by brush painting, and what I can do with the slight ridge left from the paint build up on mine. Thanks in advance. WM. -

That square one that goes up the center near the 4inch gun shrouds, talk about a pain trying to put a hole in the end of it where water would drain from WM. -

I remeber this stage with my boot line, I had to do mine with small runs of tape due to the Torpedo bulge and all the bilge pumps, I extended the line further up as my Warspite is being built to disp[lay her at Dunkirk in June 1944, she was sitting lower in the water - possibly more weight? so they made her boot line wider from 6ft to near 10ft wide. Looking good - did you sand down the plastic deck prior to fitting the wood decking? i did this as it ensures a uniform bond and places it at the right hight on the deck. WM -
