  1. what is the name of the red used on red white and blue aircraft used at Farnborough, Boscombe Bedford etc? It isn't the same as roundel red, is it the same colour used by the Red Arrows? Thanks in advance
  2. Maybe not under the cockpit but Binbrook Lightning Augmentation Flight aircraft wore a red star on their tail fin in the mid eighties, UK equivalent of US Aggressors maybe? Whirlybird Decals do a sheet for them
  3. Hey Chris, a round trip to Exeter and back would be quite a trip from North Lincolnshire! Although the South West is worth a visit, lots of aviation heritage around there? Thanks for the link also, interesting!
  4. That's the attitude, like it, I'll look forward to see how you get on? Dave Leeman
  5. That was what I was thinking/hoping! I don't really know, but a modified drop tank would be nice and simple to scratch build! It could be direct sample capture or more likely a spectrophotometer which would be a lens of some sort, a UV absorbtion detecting camera maybe?
  6. I built mine in the eighties, looked great! Hanging from the ceiling with a pair of Matchbox Lightings taking on 1/72 fuel?? Just give it your best shot learn from the experience and use that on your next project, I tend not to look for problems, just overcome them the best I can as I encounter them, it's a plastic model kit, supposed to be fun, relaxing, etc not stressful and annoying! Embrace the challenge! Some great work there Bill, you're clearly a highly skilled modeler, very nice pair of Handley Page finest! Dave Leeman
  7. Wow! Well found Jim, many many thanks, great stuff! The ozonesonde he needed he designed himself! A sonde is the measuring/sampling device sometimes with it's own transponder usually found hanging under a weather balloon, or the payload of a sounding rocket or air dropped on it's own parachute passing through layers of the atmosphere as it goes! Or as in the case I'm interested in carried in/on a Norwegian DH Vampire T55! Thanks Jim
  8. You do recall correctly, only they were designated T55 it seems? Still no luck finding further details, although the ozone measuring equipment was probably an ozone spectrophotometer developed by Brewer himself! Thanks Dave
  9. Interesting? I suppose that narrows down the options, not sure how many T11 the Norwegians had but it would have probably been in their markings, which leaves equipment, some device for collecting or in some way analyzing samples? Thanks Jim,
  10. I'm looking for marking and serial number details of a Vampire T11 flown by Dr Alan Brewer with the Met Research Flight to Tromso in Norway to take ozone measurements in July 1955? Any ideas where I could find this info? Thanks, Dave L
