  1. Apologies for exhuming such an old thread but the question was one I was curious about as well (even way out here in 2023). This ensuing curiosity led me down a rabbit hole of articles, blogs, boards, and videos which brought me to one maybe-possible-could-be answer, which is: "Which variant would a manufacturer make available?" Aside from the obvious canopy shapes, there's also engine variants of inline vs. radial (BMW VI 7.3D vs. the Bramo 323A-1 Fafnir respectively... among others) and then the nose shapes make for a dynamic range of silhouettes and dimensional variants... Unsurprisingly, a company could stick to offering model kits of the Do.17 exclusively —and no other types of vehicles at all— and still never get through all the variants. Sadly, if any of the larger manufacturers did launch a kit, I'm sure they would receive a litany of hate mail for offering the one variant that Grumpy McGrumble hates: and being how prolific McGrumble can be with posting his discontent, it's no wonder none of them will touch this plane. Anyway, just my 2₵ but I thought to chime in since this plane is still really cool and a 1/32 scale offering (in any of its schizophrenic identities) wouldn't net any complaints from me.
  2. Yeah, but aren't they already? At this point, most kits larger than 1:72 are no longer in the realm of a weekend project anyway, so I say "Go for it!"
  3. Another USN Bubblehead here. I'm looking forward to building it despite the sanding and grinding required to get the boat "sat". Warning to anyone wanting to build this as a waterline display. The hull appears to be split in the middle, which would be far below the actual draft of any modern sub. These boats are designed to sink, so they sit very low in the water (ready to do their thing), so think "iceberg" when setting the draft.
  4. It's been awhile so I'm curious to know if you ever built this kit?
  5. I'm on the opposite side on the scale debate. I'd prefer the entire armor market to somehow magically move to 1:32. It won't ever happen, but one can dream. Either way, I'd much rather see the Lank hit the shelves first than the Junkers. I'm just a bigger fan of British planes overall; especially your bombers. However, if HKM were to start tickling the idea about a German flying boat (i.e. BV 138, Do-24 or the Do-18)? Especially that Dornier Do-24. Then again there's the Blackburn B-20!!! ... Oh, and the wholly neglected Japanese planes like the Kawanishi H6K or the French Latécoère 300. Then again, there's the American Consolidated P2Y... Yeah, one can dream.
  6. I'm seeing Tom's bump and raising it one more bump. .... ... .. . Curious ... nearly all my favorite builds suddenly stop in 2012. It's kind of creepy.
  7. Definitely excited to see this one come together. Where did you get the plans?
  8. Cheese on rice, please don't release this anytime soon. I'm still saving for the Catalina!
