  1. Very nice work but such a shame that it's necessary.. in this day and age that should not be happening.. Keep up the good work!
  2. Brassin wheels, airbrushed with Mr. Paint.. Mr. Paint 47 Dark Grey with a small black leading edge.. Modelmaster 2040 Aircraft Interior Black.. Alclad 103.. just to see the colors relate to each other..
  3. The replacement wheels have arrived and I finished the Draken! For pictures look over here:
  4. Well, it's finished! A most coulorful addition to my cabinet.. For the build look over here:
  5. and with some primer.. another hinge.. with a little vane over the gun housing, made from stretched sprue.. Master Model for me is pretty much always a must.. below AMK.. AMK has missed these small items on the wings, looks to be connected with the outboard pylons, which will be fitted after all, sincee I can't find any pictures without them.. front look a tiny big bigger than aft on the pictures, so.. and after some primer.. A BSM hasn't got any fuel receptacle panellines, so out came the filler and made a hinge there as well, mirrored from the right side.. glued with Canopy Glue.. scratch HUD..
  6. It's a secret mixture.. one ml of future, one ml of mr. color leveling thinner and one drop of Windsor & Newton drawing ink, airbrushed on at low pressure.
  7. on top of the intakes/fuselage I found some more hinges.. and somem ore on the nose.. anybody else know of even more hinges on the model?? rear side.. the brake parachute housing has some more rather prominent details now.. canopy airbrushed in two different colors.. yellow and blue for the windscreen.. seats so far..
  8. inside the cockpit so far.. with some black decal the IP looks better than Eduards green screens.. improved the fit around the nose gear wheel bay.. after sanding.. I chose to glue the outside of the intakes first, then the inside to the bulkhead and followed by the nose. Some small pieces of plastic needed to be sanded/cut away to improve the fit. Especially on top of the outside of the intakes. Dryfitting is very important here. primed.. the shape of the brake parachute canopy is not correct and should be more round.. after some sanding and resin rivets.. and primer you get this..
  9. I will stick to the inboard pylon only, I see a lot of Mig-31's with just that. I do know the trick but the plastic is primed twice and thick, so it doesn't work for me. The wheels are in for the Draken, so I might finish this one soon too! This is one of the best kits I have ever bought and build.. it's great!! Mr.Paint 1 Russia Turqoise Cockpit is too bright and green to fit directly next to Eduard. Used Mr. Paint 1 mixed with some Mr. Color 57 Metallic Blue Green.. Not 100%, but way better.. in progress.. idem.. The quite expensive G-factor set on the right against the left AMK nosegear, quite identical.. But badly copied.. thanks Alan! sawing the AMK parts apart will remedy the gear.. using the parts to remedy the torque link being connected to the piston..
  10. Grrrr... I slowly get your points and now feel cheated by both Authentic Decals and Hungarian Armour Decals... Koen, the pictures I have of Blue 05 are here: http://russianplanes.net/regs/RF-92445 Other pylons indeed and no mirror for the pilot. And indeed I meant the IRST. So.. this kind of leaves me the only option as to make option D from the AMK decal set, red 25. Not world's most exciting I must say. Begemot set 48040, option 15 (the only BSM) is not much better. Anyone interested in the beforementioned decalsheets? Thanks Koen for saving my rivetcounterass!
  11. The cowl flaps almost always are open on the ground, I believe. The master guns are better than the eduard guns, but probably just as bare looking as the eduard guns. Most of the hellcats have 'boring' tube like guns. Wheels are too thin and could use more robust AM ones.
  12. Hello Koen and all others! thanks for replying! But Koen, why can't I use these? I mean, as a complete mig-31 nitwit, what are the major differences between a B/BS and a BM/BSM update? The retractable camera underneath the nose, and the retractable mirror for the rear 'office' aren't they the tell tale exterior signs for a BM/BSM? The cockpit is updated as well off course and some antennas, minor other stuff as well. But if I have pictures of blue 05 with the mirror and the camera, shouldn't it be -by definition- a BM/BSM? Asgiardiano, I have the BM/BSM boxing. I would love love to finish the Draken soon! I think it will definitely give some color in my display case.. grin. regards sid
  13. The cuts are done by hand and eye with a razor saw. The wheel wells have Alclad2 106 White Alu airbrushed. a bit strange, no see through, but visible.. from the inside.. with some plastic it will be slightly better.. and there as well, just to prevent a slightly depressed wingpart.. even with the wonderful 3D moldins there is a need for some sanding.. as well as here: and here: don't forget to drill the holes for the pylons like I did.. my hinges after some Mr.Surfacer 1200.. G-factor metal gear.. just 'something' inside.. for the last time as visible as this is.. the main gear is being supported by a thin and flexible piece of plastic on the inside.. so I glued some structural reinforcements to the it.. glueing Russian style.. intakes with the magnificent HGW wet transfers, loving them instantly!
  14. Waiting on some replacement parts for my Danish Dynamite and with an upcoming training coming up, I decided to start building this gorgeous kit. Kit of the year 2015 I believe. And so far, I am absolutely amazed by it.. it fits like a glove, is detailed and is huge.. I have read Mike's build here one Britmodeler and that was indeed the trigger to start.. And this one it will be, blue 05: Airliners.net picture removed - read the rules regarding using these Okay.. something I didn't know as well... i'll leave it here since Blue 05 is not possible anyway.. see later posts.. First thing I wanted to check and glue.. second.. it does require just a little work..i dryfitting easy as building.. darn, that's no small plane.. a piece of scrap to make the fitting a bit neater.. some sanding is needed for a perfect nose.. but I love it! take some 2 mm of this rib for a better fitting intake.. loving Alclad.. Mr.Paint-32 Russian Green for wheels and antenna covers.. and Eduard's set improves this.. don't forget to paint the inside of the hull since it will be the inside of your wheel wells, also at the nose gear bay.. main gear wheel bay (dryfit only).. beautiful pieces.. Alclad 106 in the nose gear bay.. For all the Mig-31 experts.. I think I have bought two sets of decals thinking they were for the BM/BSM. But found out most of these topics are a for the B/BS. So, I was wondering which aircraft I can model using these two sets, that is, which are BM/BSM and which are B/BS? Hungarian Armour Decals.. Authentic Decals 48-20.. dryfiiting only.. I thinned the right side of the plastic on top of the variable duct.. some very thin pieces of plastic to improve the fit.. I found the hinges missing and thought I would be able to make them myself.. made some missing circles as well.. in action.. et voila.. glued the gorgeous intakes semi together and finished gluing while they were installed in the hull.. burner cans.. with the same light and nothing done, it looks different..
  15. With Mr. Color 309 FS34079.. Decals sprayed over with Alclad2 Gloss 600.. But can hardly be noticed any more.. NACA ducts hand painted with Humbrol and just a little lighter than FS34079.. After airbrushing Mr.Color 2 Gloss Black this happened.. never before.. Several Alclad2 metal paints with a black Vallejo wash.. mr.paint tyre black.. Wheels turned out okay, I think. Eduard's wheels from their limited kits..
  16. This I will definitely be watching.. what giant skills.. for a giant plane.. awesome! Sid
  17. Awesome.. How do you get the glue to stick to only that tiny bit of soldering wire?
  18. I am starting to see the difference in wheels now.. there is a minor? change in hub on the outside and the brakes on the other side.. As for the nosewheel, Aires didnt have this in their set, but Hasegawa supplies both. Anyone out here, who just built the Eduard Draken in a Swedish version and has the resin Danish wheels/brakes for sale? Please drop me a line.. Indeed the lights are slightly different, less 'square'. Unfortunately I didn't correct these.. with the Maestro Models decals applied.. and some homemade Slime Lights, because Eduard's parts are longer than either Hasegawa's or Maestro's decals.. After one coat of Alclad2 313 Matt Clear..
  19. Thanks gentlemen! What a wonderful site Jens, thanks. I have to check the wheels again, but glancing over them, I can't find the difference easy.. anything in particular to look for you know of? Your fellow Dane, Per Madsen, also mentioned another lovely site about Dynamite 6-1: http://esk729.dk/esk729.dk/Dynamite_6-1_VM_86.html#9 Thanks! I did note the Danish version of the Safety Pins Storage box, that is one of the smaller differences between a Swedish and Danish Draken. I made it. The fit of the XMM intakes is -resin in mind- rather good. Although fit would benefit from scraping away some plastic on the inside of the wing where the ducting wil be. You can easily bend the resin into shape after putting it in boiling water, but this easily spoils the inside contours of the ducts. Though I now know not a lot can be seen inside anyway.. Getting used to Tamiya's new flexible tape.. Like Santa, checking everything twice.. with Mr.Color 327 airbrushed on.. I am happy.. From Per's site one can see the red and white paint being paint rolled on.. it was not at all very consistent.. I have decided NOT to replicate that particular feature. What i do want to do is have that matt appearance of the red and white contrasting with a glossy green underside. I think I will finish the top side first, with decals and all, matt coat it, tape it all in and only then do the lower side. This glossy green will also do as basecoat for any Alclad2 I need later on. Easier this way I presume..
