  1. Things I should remember from a previous life .... In your instruction booklet it will have the maximum that they recommend you use the compressor at, the manufacturer will have tested the tank to 1.5 times the rated pressure, and probably calculated in a higher pressure, so if the pressure gets too high the first thing that should happen will be the pressure relief valve lifting, and letting the excess pressure off, before any damage happens to the tank. Same sort of principle as a steam engine. If you are a worrier, then the easiest thing to do is switch the compressor off at the wall switch when it gets up to pressure. Then you are in control of when you top up the tank, and can switch it on as you walk out of the room to get a drink. Hope this helps, but I shouldn't worry, 16 years in the industry and I can't remember an instance of a reservoir going pop!
  2. Looking good Jerry, now all you need is a low loader and a 1/24 traction engine!
  3. Looking good Jerry - hope to see it at one of the shows soon! DM - at least we don't put targets on them ..............
  4. Flippin' heck Jerry, are you suffering from insomnia at the mo? Looks good mate.
  5. Thank heavens for that! I've told Daze that we will be at Yeovilton - so hope to see you sooner, but will ring you soon!
  6. Heck Jerry, you're on a roll, is there to be a trailer for it?
  7. Looking good - the OB remembers them when they were common on the road, and says that you are building the reason that there are so many Volvo's on the road! Something to do with the lack of heating, power and other things! If we're not careful, we're going to have mostly trucks for show between us at The Meddlers!
  8. And you know what can happen then ......... So, you don't want any other assistance then? I'm sure the OB would point you in any direction take the mick (but only if you promise not to glue him to anything!)!
  9. Nick, I've just read this, I have the 1/24 kit - and could scan the decals for you if it would help. Let me know, and I'll get them down from the attic tomorrow. I can't remember what they have on them, but am willing to look! Harriet
  10. Dave, it's nice to put a face to a story - he'll be tripping over cows again, I hope! Glad you're getting back on track with all the important things ....
  11. C'mon Sq. you can do it - after all we know where the Ponti is ...................... I suppose we could give visitation rights ........................... what d'you reckon Daze? By the way, anything of yours got an engine in it mate? Sorry, having a bit of fun, just 'cos I finally got my old girl up and running again. And she will be residing next to Dazey's Sq's Ponti for a while. I'll give her your love boys ............ Crack the whip Daze - c'mon Sq
  12. I've been reliably informed, courtesy of someone who restored a GT40, that the colour blue is Triumph Herald Powder Blue! just a thought for you.
  13. Have a look for 4 Frogeyes from the Hampshire Chapter of the Midget and Sprite Club, and you'll have found me and the other half (Mopar Man)out for the day with our mates. Looking forward to it!
  14. Nice piccies, have to confess that the Budgies are a particular favourite for me. For more general heli shots try http://www.norrpress.co.uk/ he's a good friend of mine and a good photographer too!
  15. And, more importantly Sq, OUR show!
  16. When I was at college I remember one of the guys un-seizing a motorcycle engine with a can of Coke when all else had failed. Apparently large amounts are carried by the police in some states in the US to clear up the road after an accident, of blood etc. So removing chrome .......... no problem!
  17. A trick used by pinstripers is to shape the bristles with Neatsfoot oil when you've cleaned it.
  18. Now that's what I call cute! I love that era of motors too. Lovely.
  19. Nige, you're a wonder - I have one of them for my glasses, earrings, the occasional other jewellery, have used it for parts of the steam engine, and small parts of my various restorations, but I wouldn't have even thought of using it on the resin Thank you. Daze, you are so welcome. Wonder how many people we disturbed on the way home with our (well, yours really!) laughter.
  20. Here you go Daze ....................... the Vim! Finally managed (?) to get a picture up here!
  21. Thanks guys - knew that it would be simple enough - the answer to a lot of these problems seems to lie with the contents of the under sink cupboard! Seems to me that way anyway Now all I need to find under there is something to make my matt varnish matt!!!!!
  22. Yep, White wall cleaner is just that - it's for cleaning the white walls on 1 to 1 scale white wall tyres, or white walls on white wall tyres (sorry - just my sense (?) of humour (can send pictures if necessary )) So, if we wash it in good old soap and water, that will do it - fantastic - thank you all. Sometimes the answer is in front of you all time. Mind you we thought it might be Fairy Power Spray
  23. In the US mags they recommend white wall cleaner to wash resin with to get rid of the release agent. This is both expensive and not commonplace. What do you guys use?
  24. You must have really good eyesight - they are lovely. Think I must get some of your weathering wash ...
  25. What we both do in this house revolves around a simple rule. And this is my own personal hobby horse which needs a scotch and another thread to explain my reasoning behind it! We go to the Nationals each year at the moment - and unless the club has a theme which we have already built something that's appropriate - the models we take haven't been to a Nationals before. We then put them out on the stand throughout the year at different shows. This gives us a definite target, and also means that I don't have to look at the same models on our display every year. I'm not a good modeller, I'm an improver, I enjoy it, and I quite like my results, but sometimes I like to throw together something completely different for the sheer hell of it! Mind you, that's taken a turn for a different sort of loft insulation sometimes! Personally I blame the Jetsons, but that's another scotch ................ I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you enjoy the research, you'll get that model built eventually, but if you want to produce something, a target date is a wonderful incentive, but whatever you do, ENJOY IT! Just my tuppence worth!
