Italeri jaguar mk1 finished .Great little model to do, Apart from the wheel struts disintergreating all went together OK. Next to no filling, very little sanding, but decals were a pain because of my condition.Paint went on better than the last model so at least im improving on that score.Nothing in the instuctions about adding weight to the front hence jaguar wanting to fly without canopy or pilots. Some blue take sorted that out.Going to stick with the hairy stick a blt longer as its more satisfiying for now.Ya never know i,ll be doing washes and toning next.Never be in the same league as most of you guys but as said i am improving. jag (1) by skellitor59, on Flickr jag (2) by skellitor59, on Flickr jag (3) by skellitor59, on Flickr jag (4) by skellitor59, on Flickr jag (5) by skellitor59, on Flickr jag (6) by skellitor59, on Flickr jag by skellitor59, on Flickr

Oh dear, painting and decorating was my second trade and i could spend all day happily painting animals ships, cars ,on walls.Done a few models after a 40 year break last year,Vulcan,Harrier and Victor. Not as good as some on this site but better than i expected with having disablitys now and fading health(poor eyesight, shakes through drugs "priscription drugs" i may add),.Iv used spray in the past n touched up with the hairy stick and this is my 1st attempt at fully painting a model with a brush.WELL I dont think this is a very good start even though its a 1st coat of green. Not sure weather its brushes( tried different ones)hombrol paints,or what but it looks like a 5 year olds been let loose in a paint shop.I,ll give it a couple more coats but me thinks it will be stripped back and will go back to what i know. Managed to get an hour in on the sea king this afternoon. All dry fitted ,check, every thing in position ,check, glue check, tape up,check sit down for an hour, check remove tape ,check disaster strikes, check.Well what can i say ,i know it was going to well.Right behind the engines (image 1 and 3) a small part had sprung up and dried hard creating a step.and small gap at the back of the engine encasment(image 2),hay ho thats modeling for you.i shall whittle away at it in the morning ,get filled in and try n make some pontoons for this(any ideas would be welcome) monday (1) by skellitor59, on Flickr monday (2) by skellitor59, on Flickr monday (3) by skellitor59, on Flickr monday (4) by skellitor59, on Flickr Thanks for looking.

Just the HAS 4 with the green n white jungle stripes.Got a small bottle top for the thing on top ,(I cant remember what the hell it is now) and two nebulizer nodules ( they look about right) for the floats /pontoons , not sure of other bits n pieces i will need.
-
Its was supposed to be the helicopter prince Andrew flown in the south Atlantic sea King HAS.5 (XZ574) BUT as i couldnt get one, i opted, for a later model on hopefully "add on "the bits n pieces (big bulbus thing on top, flotes.)no reference photos as such except the one,s on google from the fleet air arm. yes a lot of the seats are blue but theres a verity of colours used in the sea kings.french blue is the colour stipulated in the instrucktions and as i have a limited budget and range of colours i used what colour i saw in a photo on google. Not the best way for accuracy but its the nearest one to french blue. For what you can see from the outside its not that important IMHO.
-
Had a look inside the box n thought oh this looks nice,so made a start before dinner.Bit fiddly putting the seats in but got them in the end, colours arnt a perfect match but close enough.Fittings are quite good ,so far so good,(famous last words)sunday (3) by skellitor59, on Flickr sunday (2) by skellitor59, on Flickr sunday (1) by skellitor59, on Flickr

Thanks for the answer .What rate of thinners per pot?? I know the more you use the more coats will be needed for coverage..Im looking for a smother finish with hopefully less brush marks.
-
Hopefully im in the right section.Iv been getting a few "starter kits" for Christmas that come with colored paints in Pots.Is there enough red in the pot to cover the 1/72 gnat or the hawk. What can be mixed with these pots to go a bit further as theres does not seem enough in these pots????Is it thinners /water ???I got some with the vulcan kit earlier in the year and just through them away but i dont want to get a load of paint just for one model. Are these paints ecyrlic or enamel.
-
Hi gents , Is there any real issues with the airfix 1/72 sea king.Looked through the forums and everybody seems to have went down the long route, mine is going to be striaght outa the box but a different color scheme.Any help would be greatfully recieved.
-
Got a stand to make for the victor refueling the vulcan then its on with the theme and the sea king next.
-
Im well n truly finished with it.What you may ask???This Its fought me all the way and i havent enjoyed any part of it except most of the build and even that give me a bad time.NEVER,NEVER again will i do a victor.Only thing it needs now is a stand and the refueling hose.painting it was a nightmare on the exocist scaleand the canopy i will be having daymares every time i look at it.Now its done and on the shelf it do,esnt look to bad against the harrier n vulcan but as said even if its free i wont build another.Next episode THE SEA KING HELICOPTER. victor model by skellitor59, on Flickr victor model by skellitor59, on Flickr victor model by skellitor59, on Flickr victor model by skellitor59, on Flickr victor model by skellitor59, on Flickr victor model by skellitor59, on Flickr victor model by skellitor59, on Flickr victor model by skellitor59, on Flickr victor model by skellitor59, on Flickr

DEfo not going to use to much pressure.i felt sick when it broke intp peices,i dont want to get that feeling again.
-
Thanks again.its all hardened now but stuck to the piece of spruce i put underneath it and doesnt want to move from where the canopy is.Dont want to risk breaking it or the cockpit area again so its staying put.I read somewhere you can clean the plastic up with some wet n dry and something else,.Toothpaste springs to mind .but would anyone know if thats true.???????
-
Thanks there bud ,but iv managed to glue it together, not very prety but its in place now and i,ll see if i can somehow clean it up. IMG_1324 by skellitor59, on Flickr

Anyone know where i can put my hands on a cockpit canopy for the 1/72 victor.Sanded it more sanding and more sanding ,Oh the fit was perfect put glue on the airframe ,went to place the canopy ,pressed home ,finger straight through it .its broke into several peices ,sick as a dog.

Well got some more paint on the hard stewart bar .Theres no way im gona get a strieght line on this victor so its all been done by my fair (shaky) hands.Unknown to me id been sent the wrong color green for the camo but having used some of it and compairing it to my other camo paintwork its almost the same but its more of a satin finish so im hopeing once its all finished and laquered it will look OK.A few bits n bobs still to glue on(airials, probe, windscreen) and after that the decals.Details on the decals are hard to place on the diagrams so im going to be looking at lots of images on the interweb unless someone can help me out with a detailed diagram.Paint should look ok once its been rubbed back as theres still quite a few brush strokes showing. Excuse the photos this time ,it had been put on a different setting for some weather shots and not put back so there a tad blurry,BUT Its coming along !!!!!!! I have managed to sand it back a bit with wet n dry, doesnt look so bad now but will need lines redrawn forward(so to speak) and repaint over them.just looked at your victor and some of them (strange) monsters.Very clean lines and astonishing detail on the them.I hope my victor end up a bit like yours. Thanks for the compliment about the photos.Im just a point n shoot person but sometimes i get lucky and get a few good ones. but its more than likely my last visits to airshows and bases unless they(doctors) can give me a new set of lungs.Really struggled this year and with the meds im on i have the bad shakes and tire very easily.
-
Thanks for the commpliment, its just the build itself just went together no problem.you live n learn.
-
Well after filling ,sanding, filling ,sanding, filling ,filling ,sanding,i finaly got some paint on the victor.turns out the cockpit floor itself was warped, after putting it all back together again the 1st time started masking up nand noticed the pilots were sitting askew again. So all the previous work had to be redone again.there not sitting dead straight but much better than before.I had to leave the victor alone for the best part of a week due to infection of my chest(again) a good IV dose of antibiotics and back on the road again.Put some white on and left it for a full day to dry and started peeling the tape and wrap off and was full of dissapointment.paint had managed to seep under most of the tape onto the airframe so lesson learnt, dont use masking tape.Iv spent most of the day sanding back n marking up for the green coat of paint going back to the rolled blue tack.More to follow....... Truth be told ,i never want to do a victor in camo ever again, what with my twitchy fingers and three tone paint its just not worth the trouble, build itself was a piece of cake but its seems to have taken me more time getting lines drawn on the aircraft for paint than the harrier and the vulcan. victor by skellitor59, on Flickr victor by skellitor59, on Flickr victor by skellitor59, on Flickr victor by skellitor59, on Flickr victor by skellitor59, on Flickr victor by skellitor59, on Flickr

An update on the 1/72 victor,a lot of bad press about this model(Revell)but IMHO it hasnt been that bad .A few areas needed some filler, not a lot but just enough to hide the gaps.(see images)The main body went together no problem but on closer examination the crew cockpit has moved and has became stuck so its staying where it is.Not much left to do ,refueling pods, sand, paint, glass, so im hoping to have it finished before next week. This is going to sound stupid(ok i know i am) but has anyone used normal household paint like vinyl silk, gloss paints on there models. An acquaintance has said he use to use it when he was making models in the 70s.Im sure he,s winding me up.
