  1. Good Grief, this is '72nd!!!! Not using any PE on the aircraft build, just some bits on the WGr rockets. Excellent work so far
  2. Cheers Ozzy, CMK 'Quick and Easy' seats are good, rest is just kit parts and drybrushing really.
  3. At this rate may be finished by next August! (gotta stop fiddling with the model railway) , but anyway, been getting on with the cockpit. Nearly time to assemble the fuselage, doesn't look as bad as I thought after looking at how Mottlemaster's assembly has been going. Onwards and upwards!
  4. Good going man, getting behind with mine, keep getting side-tracked with other stuff (family visitors, grandchildren, etc) but i'll get there!
  5. Wow! I can only hope and dream to ever get a finish like that, and on such a great aircraft. Big thumbs up from me
  6. Nowt wrong with your cockpit, when you look at mine it'll have to be in a darkened room, wearing sunglasses while squinting!
  7. Coming along nicely mate, been busy with another project to try out my airbrushing skills, got some catching up to do!
  8. Been a while, holidays, DIY etc. Tried out my new airbrushing gear, made lots of mistakes, mainly abysmal masking, lots of retouching. Major failure on the camo front, noticed as I was taking the photo's, I got the colours mixed up on the starboard wing, also made a mistake with the actual pattern. This is my first attempt in 20 years to finish a model aircraft, I'm just gonna leave it as is and continue with my major bugbear, varnishing and decals! Also, airbrushing doesn't 'alf reveal poor joins !! Ah, well, it's all a learning curve. Watch this space.
  9. [quote and all our kids have left home .YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE They can (and do) return sometimes. I've had my youngest daughter ( now 28 ) back a couple of times over the years, and we currently have my wife's son (32) living with us.
  10. HA! My cunning plan is working, letting you guys build your ex-Dragons before me to see how the fuselage lines up, mainly because of my poor modelling skills, impatience and lazyness
  11. You know, I could be tempted to do another kit for this build, I like the look of this.
  12. Cockpit looks Veeerrrry nice. I've yet to get this far, so looking forward to the grand fuselage front and rear union party
  13. Cheers matey. That looks more like the panel M11 , not no.5. So gonna go with that part.... maybe! I was looking at the Eduard panels on there etch fret and they look like this as well. Is the large dial below the panel a navigation aid?
  14. Cheers matey's, gonna have to do a bit more research on this (me... research, PAH!)
  15. Nice. Last model aircraft I ever finished, years ago now, was Italeri's Ju-88A-4. I just stuck a spare barrel for the 20mm, didn't even reckon on the shape being different. The markings had a large skeletal hand under each side of the cockpit which dropped to bits on application, ended up a mixture of decal and paint!
  16. Why not an in flight cut-away version, showing cockpit, engines, scratch built wing and fuselage ribs, stringers, cables, wiring, pipework......... You might be done by next August
  17. You're cracking on there Alistair, and I'm only doing one build. Wish I had collected a few reference books over the years, but I only ever envisaged doing one of a particular type of subject, so thought it a waste. When I go in the loft I'm torn between finishing the SH 1/72 Skua I started eons ago, doing some wargame stuff, or, bits to a model railway I've had on the go for about 3 years now. Still, got till August, eh?
  18. Need some advice here peeps, even though I'm normally not too bothered about such things, the instructions say to use instrument panel M11, but the illustration is of the other panel in the kit. Do I go with M11, which is an extra sprue with the C-6 nose, wingtips and stuff, or the other one which matches the illustration in the instructions? (I reckon M11..... I think ) Part M11 differs from the drawing Part ?5 is the same as the drawing Can't seem to find any photo's on the net of a C-6 panel.
  19. Nice to see how your cockpit is coming together, will be using the colours as a guide to mine. Not at all bothered about the accuracy of the instrument panel and I'll just be washing and dry brushing the interior. I find Games Workshop 'Snakebite Leather' looks OK for.... well, leather
  20. Very nice, busy with mine at moment amongst other builds, was going to to the black night fighter scheme but I may do this one.
  21. Give that man a Ceegar! Masking the clear bits was a job I wasn't looking forward to, but that technique looks good, edge with thin strips then fill in the middle? Never thought of that DOH!
  22. Funny that, I was thinking the same about your build......
  23. Pilot looks good. I don't think I've ever built a model aircraft, even when I was a kid, with crew figures added, yet when building military vehicles I always added them to add a bit of life. Might have to give it a try methinks.
  24. Well, after a couple of small DIY projects, 2 weeks in the sun, and then a wedding to go to, made a start this morning (while our 2 grand daughters we child mind had a nap, I think Grandma did as well!). Just test fitting some bits, glued the tail planes and fin together, just wanted to see how this separate nose was gonna fit. Filled the ejector pin marks in the cockpit walls, dunno how much will be seen but there's lots of glazing! The fit of the tail planes looks pretty rubbish but nowt that a bit of modelling won't fettle The panel lines line up on the top but not the bottom, not gonna worry to much about it thought.
