  1. Oh, just lovely! Gotta love those 1920s and 1930s biplane markings!!
  2. Which tree is best? That depends on what you want the story to say. The first bare tree speaks of the bleakness of life in the ruins of war, the struggle of living itself. The second tree, with the green leaves gives the story hope.
  3. Shouldn't that be "...like sausages..."Got one of these in my stash, and it is number..ah 8 (I think) in line, so I'll be watching with interest!
  4. Beautiful model and base, and the first photo is an absolute jewel!
  5. Very C O O L! Got one in my stash and looking forward to making it look half as good as yours!
  6. Just found this yesterday, and been reading it (on and off, while looking after my slightly sick daughter) since then. I've got to say great work, Tony! I'm going to be following this one until you've fettled it into submission!!
  7. Cool! I know about the company, but not their products. But you are doing a very impressive build!
  8. WOW! Great work Elger! I just found this thread, and as I have the Mk I/II version in my stash I'll be taking notes, not that my skill level is anywhere near yours.
  9. Nice build so far. For those of us unfamiliar with the kit though, could you maybe tell us what scale it is in.
  10. Nice build Phil! Great photos of the finished product as well!
  11. Is the scene in Europe or Asia? I adk because of the water lily pads on the water.
  12. Oooohhhh! Nicely done DogtailRed2! What is the scale?
  13. I think I'll take up knitting, as I'm obviously way too fumble-fingered to do models. Sigh, so depressed now I think I'll knit a scarf! Absolutely stunning work!!
  14. Despite the decals silvering it is a beautiful model. The Hun has always been one of my favourite jets.
  15. Very, very cool! For personal reasons I'll be building a Mosquito NF XVII. Making it as part of GB with other ANZAC equipment would just mean it would be all the more enjoyable!
  16. Thanks Darren! I'll look into the aftermarket soon.
  17. Hello all. For very personal reasons I want to make a model of the de Havilland NF M.XVII in 1/72 scale. My question, or rather questions, concerns the following: is there any other kits in this scale besides the Tamiya? And: how accurate is it (they)? I'd like to make the model as detailed and accurate as possible, so I will likely post more questions regarding the particular aircraft. Thanks in advance! Dennus
  18. Wahoo (provisionally) for this! Already have a subject picked out, which I'll be doing regardless of the GB going through!
  19. Oh, oh, oh, is there room for me? As I'm a noob it would be great for getting me motivated to do some of the awe inspiring subjects available!
  20. A little more info, the attacking aircraft (yes, just one) was a Kawanishi H8K 'Emily' flying boat. It left Rabaul on the evening of the 28th July and arrived over Townsville just after midnight on the 29th. It dropped 8 or 9 bombs and was intercepted by Bell P-39s of the US 8th Fighter Group. The Emily returned to Rabaul and reported that the aircraft that intercepted it were Hurricanes.
  21. I don't know if this has been posted before but it is worthwhile listening to. In 1942 the Japanese were bombing ports in the north of Australia, ranging all the way across the top of the continent from Western Australia to Queensland. Several of those raids were on the city I live in now, Townsville. As it happened one of Australia's great war correspondents, Chester Wilmot, was passing through Townsville on his way to New Guinea and was doing an interview with an American pilot when the third of these raids occurred and was able to capture the sounds and give a commentary. This is from the Australian Broadcasting Commissions archives. http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2009-06-08/archive-audio-eyewitness-report-of-japanese-air/1705516
  22. Groovy! Must admit I'm a fan of the old Airfix kits. They lack the detail that modellers take for granted now but they sure were, and are, fun to build with just a few simple scratch add-ons!
