Looking really smart. I hate those surprises as seen in the last photo. You think you have everything covered, spray, remove the tape and there it is...... -
As an aside here, is there a site that deals with production numbers for Japanese aircraft such as Joe Baugher's or Air History?

The above quote for largescaleplanes could read...."Beginning at the 127th aircraft produced, engineers added a protruding mass balance under each aileron. This feature was later deleted from the production line, starting with the 326th aircraft produced, following a fatal accident during a dive test in April 1941." Thank you -
I’ve had this kit for a long time; it’s an Accurate Miniatures re-pop. I’ve been wanting to do this as an Atlantic Scheme and settled on this version. The thing that delayed the build for years was the lack of information on the underwing strike camera and if I did find the info, how to make said strike camera. While going through the stash I found a camera that looks very similar to the one in the photo in an Accurate Miniature F-6B kit and the die was cast. To add to the oddballiness of this build, to my eyes, the pilots sliding portion of the cockpit and antenna look like replacements but instead of Atlantic Scheme colours, they look like the are for aircraft painted Glossy Sea Blue. The aircraft was painted with Vallejo White Surface Primer with some Grey added to tone it down some. The upper colour was Tamiya XF-54 Dark Sea Grey toned down with white to stand in for Dark Gull Grey. Decals came from the stash and the antennae were Uschi van der Rosten Super-fine. The worst part of the kit was the instructions. No words and some vagueness on locations. And the worst part of the worst part was the turret in build and when to place it. Do not…I repeat…don’t install the cockpit clear parts and then expect the turret to fit…it ain’t gonna happen. Too late, I found a set of Accurate Miniatures instructions, upload these and use them instead. A God send for the clear parts was the Eduard canopy set

The book, "Mustang Aces of the 357th Fighter Group" has what it says is, "The only known photograph of Capt, 'Kit' Carson's short-lived P-51D-15 44-14896 NOOKY BOOKY III......" The underside of the aircraft is in shadow and I can't make out any stripes

Mr Hobby Aqueous Color Question For Swordfish MkII
fubar57 replied to CharleyGnarlyP290's topic in Paint
Thanks but I've tried them. Ordered almost $100 worth of paint and primers and then found out free shipping doesn't include my postal code so I ordered Gunze/Mr. Hobby paint from Japan for a fraction of the cost of paint and shipping that Sunward Hobbies would have charged me. I even informed them of this -
Have considered turnbuckles? You still have to drill holes but the turnbuckles instead of the rigging goes into the holes...http://www.gaspatchmodels.com/

Mr Hobby Aqueous Color Question For Swordfish MkII
fubar57 replied to CharleyGnarlyP290's topic in Paint
I love Gunze/Mr. Hobby paints but are hard to get in Canada and what you can get costs a small fortune in shipping. Away from my computer right now so can’t help with the colours but I’m sure someone will pop in before I do -
Very nice. About to start building two of these

Dragon 1/48 FW-190 A-7 ON HOLD
fubar57 replied to Evil_Toast_RSA's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Looking forward to this. I haven't built one but I have the Dragon Ta 154/Fw 190 Mistel in the stash. From a rapidly fading memory, the sit maybe wrong due to the landing gear struts. Also from the same memory, the original P.E. was, I believe stainless steel -
