  1. I would like to enter the mine-field please. Below is from a chart taken from the book "Me 163 Komet #35" by AJ. Press - 1997. Not the definite answer, just some numbers. The author, followed by first, RLM 81, then RLM 82 and their corresponding FS.595a numbers. I know these aren't a direct match but horse-shoes, hand grenades and A-bombs............ Merrick: 34102/34127 34108/34110 Munson: 24091/24087 24110 *LCM: 24087 34138 Klaus: 34087 34138 **ExD: 34083 34128/34227 * Luftwaffe Camouflage and Markings Part 1,2 & 3 Kookaburra Press ** Experten Decals No. 3
  2. I'm seeing Medium Grey and a dirty Buff colour. For the Buff, look at Tamiya's XF-57. Just my take of course. For a good photo, Google Image https://www.google.ca/search?newwindow=1&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1366&bih=632&ei=qFOaW6vOOpu80PEPl7i9kA0&q=topshots+panavia+tornado&oq=topshots+panavia+tornado&gs_l=img.12...722.14336.0.16146.25.10.0.14.14.0.471.1493.0j3j1j1j1.6.0....0...1ac.1.64.img..5.6.1482.0..0j0i10k1j0i30k1j0i24k1j0i10i24k1.0.Oze2_Z2Q7uY
  3. Very nice. Kinda makes one cry when you see ".....scrapped with 300 odd other surplus aircraft...."
  4. Looking forward to the build. I did the Monogram kit as an F6F-5K Drone. The fit of the outer wing panels to the inner wing panels wasn't the best to say the least. If you aren't going to detail the landing gear bays it might make things simpler if you install the landing gear legs so they're movable, leave them folded up in the wing while you build the rest of the plane and then when you're ready, extend them and glue them solid. I used tube glue for the pivot joint and liquid glue for the gear leg rotation joint
  5. Nice. Oddball enough for me. Did the decals come with the kit? George
  6. Well dang.....at least you know where to go when you want to upgrade that Spit Mk.I
  7. Isn't there a Coffman starter bulge on the right side of the cowling on the Mk.II or was it introduced later in the run? By that I mean not the initial Mk.IIs
  8. Thanks for the confirmation Ivor and Andy George
  9. Apparently due to British secrecy laws, Frank Frays story only became known in 2001. Three articles... https://www.freemasonrytoday.com/features/dambusters-captured-the-incredible-story-jerry-fray https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1334037/I-captured-proof-of-Dambusters-raid.html https://suitcasesvulturesandspies.com/example-research.php
  10. Gentlemen, this is fantastic.....and fast. Thank you very much for your replies
  11. There's a painting called "Mission Accomplished". The caption reads "17th May 1943, Sqn. Ldr. Frank (Jerry) Fray in his Spitfire PRXI of 542 Squadron operating out of RAF Benson, Oxfordshire, returned alone and unarmed to gather photographic evidence from 30,000 feet of the Mohne dam which had been breached earlier the same day by 617 Squadron Lancaster bombers". http://www.swafinearts.co.uk/pages/published/p26.htm The first Mk.XIs were built in Nov.'42
  12. Howdy Andy. I figure this is the best place for the answer. The original poster spelled Fray's name wrong, probably why he couldn't get an answer. I have since learned a little about him and his mission but nothing about the aircraft
  13. Hey all. Looking for info regarding the Spitfire that photograph the Mohne Dam after "Operation Chastise". I know(or think I know) that there were no squadron codes. Looking for serial number and color which I think is PRU Blue. Thanks in advance, George
  14. Interesting, I've always wondered how those masks performed
  15. Love the Romanian markings, right up my alley...woof woof. George
  16. Also a photo here in Post #4 https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/hyperscale/1-32-tamiya-spitfire-mk-ix-wip-some-wear-and-tear-t30595.html
  17. This site shows French Spitfires in Indochina. http://www.frenchwings.net/indochina/gallery/displayimage.php?album=17&pid=924#top_display_media Scroll to Photo #15, it shows a large slipper tank attached. I was only aware that the French used Mk.IXs though I may be wrong
  18. Well done Pete. As a Canuck I approve of this 100%
