  1. Tamed the beast.....well done. It took me over 10 years
  2. Near the end I found it was a popular spot for spammers
  3. I used this guys Grey Green mix and it looked bang on to me so I'm thinking he may have done his research... https://replikator.club/2021/02/09/tamiya-paint-database-uk-aircraft-colours-wwii/
  4. Thank you. I left the antennae long as I couldn't find any info on the lengths and hoped that someone would set it right. Better than being too short off the get-go
  5. Thank you very much. It was pointed out that I had made the IFF too long so I trimmed about 4mm off of it and reshot the right profile to try to reflect the photo of the real aircraft
  6. Spitfire HT⦿A, RW393, 601 Squadron RAuxAF, 1949. This aircraft took part in the Cooper Air Race of 1949, a competition for RAuxAF squadrons, named after W/C Geoffrey Cooper M.P.. A great kit with the usual Eduard over engineering in a few places and the pesky two piece cowling that forces one to take care to eliminate or buy a one piece drop in replacement. I used Vallejo Metallic Dull Aluminum overall and there it sat...for two years. The problem, find a ready to use red to match the post war roundel red and spinner. I did a bunch of online searching but got no answers and then two weeks ago I was in a toy store and saw what turned out to be an almost perfect match... Vallejo Game Color Scarlet Blood. After that is was five days to the finish. Two things I added to the kit. There are quite a few builds of the kit and even though the have the photo of the real aircraft, most miss the wire antenna on the spine. This is barely visible in the photo but is very visible on the refurbished aircraft, now a gate guard. The other thing that needs to be added is the IFF antenna under the starboard wing which I painted pale yellow. Its very visible in the photo. Looking for something suitable, I used the "not needed" mast antenna and trimmed to size
  7. From " Canadian Military Aircraft - Finish and Markings 1968-2004" by Patrick Martin. "...After the Starfighter fleet was consolidated at Baden-Soellingen, an over-all Green 503-322 finish was to be applied from drawing Finish Scheme Camouflage (Green) C70F00262 dated November 17 1970. The colour has been the subject of controversy since application with regards to the true identity. It was always Green 503-322 but it was manufactured by two sources, one in the Netherlands and the other in the U.K. The initial applications appeared much more olive-drab than the later application ....."
