  1. Nice machine you have there Pete. MaK is cool, I have some sketches I wanna build....someday...
  2. Aww, he's so cute! Been playing in the mud I see. I agree with Sarge on exaggerated camo on the little bugger. I did something similar on my plesiosaur. I ought to figure out where he went so I could post some pix... So, what was the original colour scheme you had in mind. I'm nosey...
  3. A priest, a minister, and a rabbi want to see who’s best at his job. So they each go into the woods, find a bear, and attempt to convert it. Later they get together. The priest begins: “When I found the bear, I read to him from the Catechism and sprinkled him with holy water. Next week is his First Communion.” “I found a bear by the stream,” says the minister, “and preached God’s holy word. The bear was so mesmerized that he let me baptize him.” They both look down at the rabbi, who is lying on a gurney in a body cast. “Looking back,” he says, “maybe I shouldn’t have started with the circumcision.”
  4. There's a classic! Very nicely executed as well. Probably the longest run kit Monogram did.
  5. Looking good! I like the rust on the exhaust manifold particularly. So, when you're done you'll do a video of it scooting across the floor yes?
  6. Built many many years ago from a Star destroyer as if you hadn't guessed. I ship I spent a lot of time driving around the galaxy in the game Traveler. I claim it is 15mm scale to go with the old Martian Metals figures I used to have. Actually since I never throw anything away there might still be around somewhere. This model actually got some screen time in an extremely low budget college film production. (I was paid in green felt) Let's play; "Spot the airplane parts"! In another thread someone mentioned the old Type 'S' and I remembered I had one. Built back in the 80's if memory serves...
  7. It's been far too long since I posted in my own thread. I have been hanging around growing fat on the efforts of my betters. ...aaand to be honest about it, i haven't actually done that much to the thing lately. I shall seek refuge in the "I have had no time for it lately" excuse.... Anyway, some engine pix with sticky outy things that just might be fuel lines and such Alternately it may be an incredibly low budget Dalek assault team. The front engine with the airfilters and mechanical takeoffs to power the front pod. I'm still not quite sure what this is supposed to be. Some kind of turbine generator I'm sure, but the air intakes would barely serve the needs of an ordinary car let alone some sort of turbine. Maybe at 300 mph there is a sort of ram air effect going on. (man these pics are ugly. I can see every seam and grain of paint. It looks MUCH nicer from far away) Guard rails? No, GUIDE rails. A quick (some might say too quick) dry brush and a little foil for the tape drives and it looks like crap. Hmm, well it'll look better further on. Honestly. I mean, would I lie to you? Have I ever lied to you (that you know about)? Ahem. Sorry Now, you think people fiddling with their mobiles is bad, watch out for the moron programming his trip into the computer while he's in the on ramp... Oh, and those aren't ejector pin marks, they are reflectors. Amazing what you can do with a drop of Tamiya clear orange Say it with me: "It's not a flaw, it's a feature." Well not a lot to show but it'll get me back on the first page so I can find the thread without looking too hard. Thanks for putting up with my maunderings. Cheers!
  8. What interests me is the shine (Especially on that Somua) on what most references say is a matte colour.
  9. I hadn't realized there was going to be a test.. I have none. While I would in fact love to own a copy of every single kit they make, A. I have neither the time nor the spare scratch B. I can only get them online, which I prefer not to do C. Where the hell would I put them?! Okay, if someone were to give me a stack I could probably find the room...
  10. I really like the Tamiya rattlecan laquers. Stick well, dry fast, polish well. Okay mebbe a bit stinky..
  11. Looking Good! Can't wait to see colour on him. Get cracking!
  12. Dunno about replacements short of contacting Tamiya or hunting the interwebs, but you might be able to salvage disintegrating decals using a clear coating over the sheet. I don't know if you can get this over in the UK but I use Microscale Liquid decal film. Brush one layer over the old decals and you have new carrier film. I've salvaged 60 year old decals using this stuff...
  13. I don't know about you but the easiest way I know to do figures is to find something vaguely like what you are looking for and then saw him into gibs , canabalize any bits I want to change from other figures. Then rejoin his gobbets with short lenghts of soft wire. Pose him as you like and freeze the joints with CA. Behold! A hideous frankensteinian creature arises from his patchwork origins to do your BIDDING!!!! Muahaha!!!!! Sorry, something just came over me. Good luck sir!
  14. I agree. I use Formula 560 a lot. Nice tack and it sticks to most things pretty well. Never seen the Bostik stuff. You might consider a clear epoxy if there is any stress on your join though. A tiny dab holds a LOT.
  15. Beats the hell out of the Italeri kit. Well, except for the few odd engineering choices Tamiya seems to have made. Still in all it looks good. REAL good!
  16. Wow, you do like rusty junk don't you? Do you do dioramas? I'd love to see this in a dio.
  17. At least you actually built yours. Mine is still in the box ('cause I hated the"Ripley" figure too). Nice, keep beating the hell out of it and I reckon you'll have a proper piece of construction gear.
  18. I'll give it a look see. What the heck, might be fun
  19. Ooh! Shiny! That looks like the ticket! Write the frustration off as a learning experience. Funny seeing this thread, I passed that exact same car on the way in to work this morning. Black with a red trim line. It was a ragtop too. Amazing.
  20. Man that looks familiar. I used to pull engines on those thing by letting it down on my stomach and having someone pull me out from under by the ankles. Oh, on a creeper. Keeps gravel out of your trousers that way. The body colour look terrific and that engine is just the grimy lump I remember! I'll shut up now Do carry on!
  21. I like it. The road and banks look pretty near perfect. I love the layering in the dirt on the bank. I can't think of any other way to do the dust cloud except digitally, looks almost right. The flags look pretty good too but the fabric make 'em look like they are made of blankets. Very very nice! Impressively so.
