  1. I have never seen before using a solid mask to paint a scaled model except the diecast models (like HM products). Planning of getting into the serial production business? As always said and as everybody responded, simply awesome Steve! Although I am on vacation I can't stop myself following your build... Serkan
  2. It is a bit strange to have such big gap between the spike halves. Most probably the mid ring should have been sanded down to have better fit:
  3. Hi Tim, I am really sad what happened to your build! Your grandfather definitely deserves a perfectly built A-12 model. Currently I am on vacation till mid of August. But if you are not in a hurry I can send to you an entirely 3d printed kit. And as Bill already mentioned you can glue all the parts with very thin layer of 3d printing resin cured by uv hand torch. Here is an example of assembling the entire model with resin and uv lamp: Serkan
  4. With 3D printing this is not a big issue. I have already printed many Russian bombs in 1:72 and 1:48 scales and the entire Oxcart A-12 (currently only in 1:72 scale 🙂 ) Regards Serkan
  5. Everything looks very realistic including the weathering. Congratulations! Serkan
  6. Looks very eye catching blue. I intended to build this bird in 1:48 scales but no progress since long time. Serkan
  7. Looks amazing. Very eye catching finish. Well done! Serkan
  8. All the paint work, details and marking look amazing. Congratulations! Serkan
  9. There is not much to say except perfect! Serkan
  10. Very eye catching finish with excellent modelling skills. Congratulations! Serkan
  11. Looks so beautiful with very realistic weathering. Well done! Serkan
  12. Most probably I would had to get the dimensions from Amodel kit and print the entire aircraft (which was the case in my original Blackbird builds based on Italeri/Testors kits)
  13. I had that resin beast from Amodel. But it was too advanced (or too primitive in details) to build and find a place to display. Therefore I sold it in xbay. In that time there was no 3d printing technology to improve that unique bird. Maybe in one day I can attempt again... Serkan
  14. There is no reason to be sad. I can gladly prepare a complete upgrade set for free if you can get only shipping label (around14€). Please send me a message if you are interested. It will be sad to build this extraordinary bird with all known problems. Serkan
  15. Congratulations Bill. Very impressive finish despite I had a feeling that this build will never end. Most probably I was seeing some similarities with my never ending "Hall of Shame" projects. Serkan
  16. Welcome to the unlimited creativity of the 3d printing world. I am quite sure that you will start to print your own models soon!.. To encourage you here are some pictures to show what you can do with your Mars3. Serkan
  17. Which is not a big surprise 🙂 Even it is impossible to cure it such a thick resin under the sun light and your little uv torch can't do that as the light can't penetrate to the opaque resin more than a millimeter. Applying a light coats and increasing the thickness layer by layer was a wise decision. “Good decisions come from experience. Experience comes from making bad decisions.” — Mark Twain
  18. Looks really good Tim. Even better than mine printed in 1:48 scale. Serkan
  19. Depending on size I would go with Elegoo Mars 3 or Saturn 2 8K. They come with slicing software. For CAD you can use Fusion360 for free as a hobbyist. Serkan
