How am I two years late for this beauty???? Stunning CC. The out side family shot in formation is exquisite!

Snared by the Perdu net! Like a moth to the flame. I have been away for a while as this time of year is always super busy at work. But drinking a cuppa and catching up with this is just what the doctor ordered. Thanks Bill. 🤩 The Lynx looks ace! The wires and straps are my favourite parts but I’m very much looking forward to your diorama of the deck, even though your club base looked fine to me. I’m not 100 % sure what’s going on with the new kits but what I do know is that it’s made me hanker for some bench time. I have a couple of builds I need to finish off. Carry on with what you’re doing. It’s amazing to watch. 🙌🙌🙌

Lovely catch up Simon. The canopy masking has turned out particularly well. Bravo that man. Nearly done. 😍

Loving the new sight parts. I think everything you have added looks wonderful and will make this build a real stunner. I keep picking up Corsair kits at the LHS then putting them down again as I can’t remember which ones are meant to have the cloth wings. I’m such a plum.

Is that a Rick Wakeman photo you took? If so, what was the concert?
Thank you. Yeas I kinda like it. Yes I went to see him at the Birmingham Symphony halls a few days ago. Stunning show. 🥰🥰🥰

That’s some mighty progress Alain. Pain about the stripe though. I think the yellow looks ok. You might be able to re factor the black edging and get away with blue murder? I’ll keep everything crossed.

Loving this Bill. Like you said, it’s all about the “story” and this one has that in spades. Looking forward to the damaged paintwork around the blast and all that goes with it. Really enjoying this. 😇

Blimey it’s been a few days. Work, life and the back garden is taking up lots of my time but bits have been done here and there. 🤩 The garden has got a whole lot bigger but now looks a right state. I do wish it would stop raining for five seconds.
The rounds are a good 70cm or more. I do have quite a good axe and the chopping is actually good for my back.
well the fences are in and I need to clear the wood so we can get on with landscaping.Any hoo, enough of the 1:1 scale exploits. Back to the kit.
I tested the Aqua gloss on a mule.
I used light mists but it gave me a really grainy look. I decided not to use it this time and go back to the Tamiya that had worked previously.Gloss was sprayed and dried. I used my compass cutter to make masks based off the decals. @giemme will be pleased. 🤞
Masks in place. Things just got serious. 😬
I used my trusty liquid mask to…. Well mask off the bits I wanted to be chipped.
Now it’s horribly close to paint.
Right nothing else for it. Psssssst!
I used red mixed with a little black. Then did a trad of highlighting.
Same for the underside.
Aaaaand drum roll. 🥁
oooh! I like that.
let’s see the other side.I took the pic a bit early as there’s more to rub off but it looks good.
Here’s the other underside
and both top ones.
Wow. It actually worked. 🥰🥰🥰
I feel almost as proud as Rick Wakeman having a Keytar battle with his son wearing a sequin cape!!!
weeeelllllll almost. (Great gig by the way)
More sooooon.
Thanks for dropping in.
Comments always welcomed.Happy modelling.

Ha! I wish. So much wood to chop but at least I’ll have supplies for the next few years. 🪵

Thank you. Yes I kind of like it. I went over the top on my black cat build a few years ago. I didn’t want to make the same mistake. I think I used salt back then. Eugh, I didn’t like the way that worked at all. 😖

The masking worked a real treat! And now you have everything varnished, decals. 😍
Pity about the Finn debacle but I’m sure you’ll fix that, no problem at all.
Bravo.

It’s been a while since I peeked in. You’re doing fantastically. Especially with the temperature up and down all over the place, wind and rain. And you in the modelling shed. The paint is going down smooooooth. 🤝

So the spray booth is out for my Dinah build so I figured I’d get this started.
so which yellow.? I haven’t gone for the rattle cans you’re mentioning to use so I want yellow with a touch of juice. So I have gone Tamiya X8 and Tamiya X6
at a 9:1 ratio. This is way off what I’d usually do for my aircraft but as this is way bigger I’m afraid it’ll be too orangy.
(I have a plan)
Oooh I’m liking that.
so the first pass and we’re looking a bit like trotters independent traders. And front.
I do like it but I fear it’s a bit over the top for what I’m after.
So more light passes.
And tother side.
🤔 hmmmm not bad. I sat with that for a day or two but decided I wanted it a tad warmer. So with a ratio of 8:2 and heavily thinned I did a final top coat
Hard to tell them apart in these pics but it gives a little more “POP”
And makes me smile a little bit more.
I’m planning on stickering and post shading those to help everything bed in. Lord knows what I’m doing with the chrome? But it’ll be fun finding out. 🤩More soon Tamiya fans.
All comments welcomed.

Wow, lots going on again Johnny.
I do like the look of this one.......
I'm under some pressure to acquire and build something similar for the a couple of the grandchildren. I think I'd enjoy that actually, fully R/C of course.
Nice start on the paintwork, on the body of the van.
Terry
Thanks Terry. Yeah these Tamiya kits are great. I can highly recommend them for building fun and driving fun too. Go on you know you want to. 🙌

Well another day another annoying body pain. This week it’s the lumber region. 🔙🥹
The garden that once had a nice hedge like this.
Now looks like a bomb site.
It will look nice when done but sheesh!!! Oh and if you have a twitchy back don’t help out carrying concrete fence posts. It won’t end well. 😩. At least this means we won’t get any more of these blighters. 🐀🐀
Any way you don’t wanna hear about my squeaky back you’re here for Dinah right.
ok let’s move on.
once the lower section was complete I needed to mask for the upper.I quite enjoy a nice masking session.
quite therapeutic.
So time to spray.
I did the pre shade on top of the chipping fluid so that comes away too and the chipping g phase.
A few gentle passes.
Then more focusing on the centre of the panels.
Looking good but a little too heavy on the Pre shade still.
a little more working in and we’re getting there.
That was looking about right. So off with the masks and a dry fit of the engine cowls in readiness for some cocktail stick action. 🥷
Ok so I’m not going for heavy chipping just some nice relaxed wear. So get ready for a small cone of chips.
What do you mean “what chips?”
Zoom in. 😇🤣
They are there. I just didn’t want to go ott.
A few more close ups.
And.
I’ll leave that now to see if I still like it then top coat with the new Alclad to get ready for painted my first ever markings. 🫣
@giemme will be proud.
I hope. Thanks for dropping in. on pancake day too. 🥞
More soon
Happy modelling chums.

Indeed! I don’t know why it popped. There isn’t any stress that I can think of.

Why do seams pop like that, just to annoy us...
Simon.
Thanks. For the kind words.
As For the seams I have no idea. Maybe modellers are the gods of seams and the models want to sower us with gaps in appreciation of our greatness? 🤔 maybe?

Hey you lot. It’s been a couple of weeks since last time. I’ve been away restoring a vintage Tamiya RC. (Great fun)
But I’m back now. 🤩
This arrived!! 🫶
Unfortunately I’m past that phase. Maybe something metallic next time. 🤘
Thanks @giemme for the hot tip. ❤️
Well, chipping fluid sprayed and no lack of shine. Huzzah!
Pre shade added to the top.
Sub assemblies.
And bottom.
That only needed to dry for a little while and I could spray the lower colour.
first pass.
And a closer look.
I had to re glue the tail and peg because it came apart. 🙀 hopefully it’ll be ok. I’m sure it will be. I’ll need to leave that to dry. I’ll look again in daylight tomorrow.
I think I’m going to change the scheme but it shouldn’t change my first attempt at painting the markings. 🙀😵🫣
Thanks for looking in. All comments welcomed.

I've never tried this method of chipping, but it seems almost necessary for the Aleutian P-40 I have planned. It will be interesting to see how it goes for you. I can also +1 the aqua gloss, however I've never had any luck spraying it, so I just hand brush it. It self levels so well, that i get a smooth finish every time.
I hope it turns out well so you have something good to look forward to. 🙌 also thanks for the Aqua gloss vote. 😍
