  1. I don’t know if you’ve watched the movie “Saltburn” but if you have you know the bit I’m thinking of. 😉😂
  2. Ok my eyes have gone bandy, I blame the cold, so I’ll pop down tonight’s findings and hit it again tomorrow. As mentioned previously the pegs and clips did there magic. There is a little bit where the wing meets the fuselage that needed an extra glue and pin down but overall it’s a BIG phew. 😅 There was a little capillary action from the TET and a croc clip that caused this. But nothing a few swipes with a sanding stick won’t fix. look. Sitting at the back of the bench on her pins. 🤩 The engines got their wires glued in place with gators grip. Lots of little bits started getting done. The wheel bay doors have the worst case of pin mark-itis evah!! Why three? This got tidied but I forgot to take a pic. Lots of other bits and bobs got put on sticks and apparently I forgot to photograph those too. 🥸 The tail fins I did get a snap of. Purely because of the wonderful Jig I made to get the correct (ish) Dihedral. it’s hard to see but the fins are propped on two Tamiya paint pots, the fuselage is taped to the mat and a pot of Tamiya thinners is balanced on the fuselage leaning on a bottle of Mr Colour level g thinner. As I said “wonderful” 😂 One bit of bad luck is the glazing . Looky here. There’s a bit of a bubble, it’s right in the Centre of the mould so buffing won’t help. I have decided to live with it and began to mask. I got this far and threw the towel in for the night. Just these to go. Just before coming in to write this I was on toilet duty with sprocket and took the most Hammer horror shot ever. 🌖🧛🏼‍♂️ That’s me right at the top of the house. looks like I left the light on. 💡 More soon. Thanks for dropping by. I’ve missed this. Johnny.
  3. Thanks Simon. Yes I think we’re ok again. Also although it’s New Year’s Eve tomorrow the last thing I feel like I want is a drink. 😩 At least I didn’t say “naked” 😉🤣 Thanks James. I’m happy with the bays and as for everything else it’s mostly good in the neighbourhood. 🤗
  4. Hey guys. Back with more madness from the bench. I got caught by the dreaded “Trust Tamiya to be a good fit” error earlier on. Let me explain but we will begin at the beginning. the wires got glued to the engines. Just the lower ones here. And the legs got some weathering. I’m back in with Flory again but going at it with a much more subtle approach that usual. The front camera rig got added and I snipped off and dry fitted the exhausts and cowls. 😄 Excellent fit. Some weathering of the scratch fire wall. A quick fit of the wells. And all looks to be good. and from the other side before I add the brake lines and last few bits of pipe. And with said details added. Just do a quick dry fit of the upper wings. Left is fine. And the right😲 What’s going on ‘ere? The mightiest of steps. Nothing to do with the new fire wall, it just doesn't fit. The whole side wall on the top wing is forcing the whole section over by about 2mm. Not to worry. I got out the patent “Omni file” endorsed by our own in house tool wizard. @perdu. I decided to bite the bullet, glue the buggers in place add the rear “fake” walls. And then apply liberal peggage and clippage!!! 😂🤣🥸 That was this morning before chores. Now I’m done, posted this update and I can prance upward to the cave and see if it’s worked. Wish me luck. Johnny peg.
  5. Thanks Keith. Yes I’m quite enjoying getting back to the bench. Long may it continue. ❤️ Thanks G. I might get a knee blanket. 😉 Thanks CC I always tell your little story about the Or al logo fish when we drink that one. 🐟💍
  6. Ooooh lovely. I built this kit a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I did one wing up and one down but someone mentioned that it looked as if it were directing traffic. 🤣 Now I cans un-see it. You seem to be doing a great job. I don’t recall having issues with the decals but I may of had a PE instrument panel. Carry on with the great work. I’ll pull up a chair and warm blanket as currently I have a cold. 🤒 Johnny
  7. Some solid work going on here Simon. I love the look of this kit but I have far too many to build already so I’ll content myself watching yours being built. 🙌 Hope you had a great Christmas. 🎄 Johnny
  8. Lovely work over the year. That tank though!!! 😳 What a fantastic idea. 🙌🙌🙌 Bravo on a rather productive 23. 🤩 Johnny
  9. Had friends around last night so not a lot done but there was some progress before that. I drilled holes for some extra wires later on. Over a hundred of the Lilttle blighters. Then I got to do some pre shading. The extremities of the wells and the new front fire wall got painted. The main wells. Little spy camera. Mk2 with mount. Engines got a shot of silver. As did the landing gear. and I need to top coat throat lot and do some nice weathering. I have a proper full on cold so maybe nothing today. We shall see. Happy modelling you lot. Johnny
  10. Thanks, yes the fit was a real stroke of luck. Thanks. It’s a great feeling. 😀 As for the pie, my Nan made it and her’s before that. It’s usually made with the meat that was boiled off pork bones. The pie used bones in it too, to allow the jelly to bind it together. Hot water crust pastry to cover it. I did a search and not a lot popped up so maybe it’s a family thing?
  11. Thanks Terry. Can’t wait to get some paint down. Thanks Simon. One pie left for tonight’s get together of friends. ❤️ Thanks James. I’m enjoying this quite a bit. Although I do need to get back to painting that lunchbox. 🙌 Thanks. The nose camera and other details are down to your build so Thank you from 2016 for being so thorough. ❤️ Thank Ian. Yes loving the “bug” The sausages are veggie Richmond ones. They are soya and wheat so lots of natural proteins! The jelly is agar, so sea weed. Great to be back my old friend. ❤️ Almost! 🤪💚
  12. Well Christmas went with a bang!!! 9 for dinner and all went without a hitch, although we did forget about the roast potatoes that were par boiling. Extra mash is always welcome. 😀 I also made my traditional Black Country “Booney pie” More “Boo(nay) pie” these days with my veggie diet. 😄 Sausage filling! Tins at the ready. Refreshments on hand. And away we go!!!! 😇 I still have one in the fridge for tomorrow. Imagine a rather large pork pie. 💚 Aaaaany way enough of food, I’m sure you’ve seen enough of that over the last few days. Let’s get to the build. Today I had all to myself sooo. I found this image on another thread of a dinah build on BM by @Thom216 it’s a really great build so check it out. Any way, this. it shows some details that are lacking in the kit wells. So I couldn’t just leave them as they were. Bear with me on this I decided to go all ILM. 😃 Yes I know you don’t usually put wheels in there but I just wanted to add some noise with a nod toward what was actually there. I also added some blanking plates and a little frame detail if you look up the other way. I added rivet detail to some thin plasticard and glued that into the plain well bottoms. Here in place, adds a nice bit of detail, to be fair a lot of that will be hidden behind the legs so I’m not that bothered about accuracy. Then glued some wires in place. Using the dry fitted legs as a guide. These primed up nicely. More pipes will get added after paint and after the legs get fitted. I then had a dry fit of the lower wings. Looks like my additions were fouling the wings. A few swipes with a blade and the fit is better. 😃 Not really happy with the camera lens so I found some spare parts and glued this in place. Looks loads better. The nose void was a little blank also so I stole the idea that Thom had to mount a camera in there so I built this. That will get added and seen thus. Here it is primed. I decided to glue the lower wings on first and then add the upper ones later on. This after a bit of nudging allows for a pretty good fit. I also sanded the seems and painted the wheels. I decided to heat up the wheel with a lighter and flattened them a little to look weighted. Super subtle. Then I went for a coffee. Might even have an early night. 😴 looking back at the bench on the way out I got a bit of warm fuzzy feeling. I love this. More soon. Johnny fuzz.
  13. Thank you so much. It has been and will continue to be a tough time but I guess it’s how we react to it that matters. It’s a great aeroplane and a real pleasure to build. Although even with Tamiya there are some issues here and there. Thanks Ian. Glad you like the build, it’s becoming a bit infectious again. Which is nice. 🤗 Ahhh too kind . Thank you, I’ll try and keep the momentum going into 2024. 🤩 Well maybe a little bit on the pills. 🤣 The rest is all me. 😂. Looking forward to more meet ups in 24.
  14. Wow! Five mighty pages of goodness on a post Christmas morning. Thanks Giorgio. 🤗🎄 your detailed building and excellent painting has given me that little nudge to get me to the bench and for that I thank you. Absolutely stunning work as always, the extra detail added to the tub and wells is spot on. 🙌🙌🙌 Tagging along for the ride as always. please excuse my lateness. Johnny.
  15. FANTASTIC!!!! it’s a shame you covered up such a wonderfully painted nose. The helmet is superb though so I’ll let you off. Brilliant stuff. Merry Christmas old chum. Johnny.
  16. She’s a beauty. Been a while since I popped in sow a BIG WOW!!!! From me on those engine wires. All the other stuff is of equal quality too, I noticed you snuck in some paint along the way. 💚🤎 Johnny
  17. Looking sweet! Nice filling action dear boy. I even managed to get a kit in my Christmas stocking. You’re giving me the itch to get to the bench, and I so happen to have a spare day tomorrow. ❤️
  18. Riveting too!!!! 😳😳 You're not making this easy on yourself. looking suitably detailed. Johnny
  19. That’s some awesome camo painting sir. I love the odd look as I’m sure you knew I would. Looking forward to decals. They might be a bit difficult if you’re still one handed. Johnny
  20. Glad your surgery went well old boy. Here’s to a speedy recovery. Until then may the one handed modeller prevail. 👋 Johnny. 🤗 Merry Christmas by the way. 🎄
  21. Looking great CC. Glad to see your shoulder is healing. Have a great Christmas ya hear. Johnny. 😉🎄❤️
  22. Oh my @Terry1954 sorry to hear about your sister. I’m sorry I didn’t reply sooner. 😔 my condolences. I’m sure she would love your dedication after getting you into the hobby. ❤️ Excellent plastic progress on the run up to Christmas. If you could make the build last just till about the summer so we can have another jolly that would be great. Merry Christmas my friend. 🎄🍷
  23. Thanks guys. I do usually reply to each and every response but as @hendie said anything I say will sound a little trite so to all of you I wish you a great big Thankyou. I don’t ever. And I mean EVER! Post stuff like this on social media with the vague hope of a “you alright babe” or what not, but you guys are different and I felt you needed an explanation for my plastic avoidance of late. Thank you for your kind words and my sincere apologies to @hendie for my wild scientist pic. So much so that I had to reply and share again. I’ll be on a bit of a health trip after the indulgences of Christmas as I need to loose some wood. (I blame the pills. 😉) Merry Christmas, I love you all. Xxxx
  24. What’s this sitting in the dark? I wonder if the light still works? *click well whatayaknow!!! 😜 …. ok then enough with the narrative, 🤪 Autumn came and went. beer was consumed. and the last of our hens moved on to that glorious chicken coupe in the sky. RIP “Chicken Licken” What’s next? Well whatever it is let’s hope it contains at least a little time at the bench. Looking at what was in front of me on the bench was some unfinished business. I hadn’t even made the IP. 😳 So with a little bit of Gators grip thin. I had also detailed the internals with some lead wire. All this needed to come together to make the fuselage. Seats and sub assemblies got glued. And added to one fuselage half. And a rear shot. I had to dig around in a drawer but eventually found the pegs!! That needs to cure so I moved onto the wheel wells. Here they are with dry fitted legs. It’s a really good structure Tamiya have chosen, you can use the part as a jig. 😍 These fit in place nicely but there look to be gaps. I have seen someone build a back section here but for all the effort I’m not sure it’s worth it so I’ll paint the rear or the engines and hide the misgivings with smoke and mirrors. similar holes at the rear. Although with the parts in place little can be seen so S&M again. (Not what it usually means) 🤪 Here’s another shot of the front in a dry fit scenario. There is a little tidy up and an ‘orrible seem right down the middle of the well box but with some paint and a few wires I think we’ll be ok. While I was in a gluing mood I added the lower wing strut. Oooh I forgot to mention the lap belts that got added about a month ago while I tried the bench out. There they are in the lower right on the rear seat. I’ll get a pic later. Any how with the glue cured I started fixing seems with goo. Next I moved onto the engines. Rather nice OOB. they have little polly sleeves that I assume holds the props. (Nice touch) Sleeve inserted and hidden away for all time. X2 And there we are. A rather pleasant if small beginning to get bat at it. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!! 🎄 Take care of yourselves and thanks for being around when I need you. Happy Modelling. Johnny 🥸
