Apologies if I hadn’t got back to you Antoine, they all qualify for the GB. Now you’ve got to choose which ones to build.

Thanks Ozzy, no apologies needed, I just lost track of the chat, and didn't know if the front page listing was up to date, as its not part of the host's first post.

Don't know if I can squeeze an armour build in three months, but here we go, count me in, please.

    Hi there,

Hopefully, I'll have a go at this GB.

I may have missed something, but what qualify, and what does not is quite unclear to me.

can someone help with those listed above?

  3. Hi Nigel,

Not my prefered one, but it still ok.

In a way, the Phrog round up surprisingly many colourfull scheme, and the choice is difficult.

I might want to try another, once this one's over, hopefully.

At least you don't have "Christmas Stars" on the cockpit bulkhead like my Hobby Boss version.

Maybe that was HB interpretation of those cabalistic signs...

  4. And now for a closer look at the details.

Finely engraved panel line all over the structure.

    seakni22.jpg

    The small sponsoons.

I wish I could have found a box with the bigger ones, as I prefer the Phrog's look with those

We have some nice details inside, but the cargo looks otherwise quite empty.

I think the pit'll look nice as it is, I just have to add some seat belts.

    seakni24.jpg

Nice U/C too, just need some brake lines

And last a nicely detailled rotor head.

    Maybe just a few wire?

See you all next weekend, I might be able to cut some plastic part by then.

  5. My pleasure!

    ;)

    After this teaser-like introduction...

My first plan was to disguise it as a colourfull JGSDF KV-107 with the help of a Printscale decal sheet, but this subject seems to be highly popular, so I prefered to revert to the box option, which is after all as nice as the Japanese KV.

It's not up to me to tell the story of the Sea Knight, as it's already available for anyone elsewhere on the net after a quick search, but I take some time usually to write a few line with my precise subject in focus.

    But....

This time, I'm out of references, and I know next to nothing about the Phrog...

I even can't tell what's the exact version, A as the boxart tell us, or a D...

I just know this machine belong to the Marines, and was part at some time of Iwakuni MCAS station rescue flight.

Well, it's time to see what's out of the box.

    The sprues

    seakni13.jpg

    The clear parts

    seakni19.jpg

Instruction sheet, that seems to be clear enough

    Markings.

I'll go for BuNo 150951, as I was able to find a couple of pictures on the net.

388TFS at Korat flying F-4Es carried the same ECM pods as F-105s as they were (electronically) disguising themselves as F-105s in order to deal with the MiG threat. North Vietnam spots an F-105 flight inbound, sends MiGs to intercept but the MiGs find out they are F-4Es and mayhem follows. I believe this was the idea of Col Robin Olds and the pods were only carried for a number of missions until the North Vietnamese cottoned on to what was happening.

You're talking about operation Bolo, that took place in january.... 1967.

They were flying F-4C at the time, the E arriving much latter in Vietnam, in november 68.
