  1. With a few days off for Christmas and New Year, I was at least able to make a (umpteenth!) come back to modelling. In fact the first real attempt since I moved in my new home a year ago. At the time, I did set up my workbench quickly, but left most of my stuff stored where they were. A week ago, I 'd sat for the first time at my desk with determination (and time!) to build something, but I quickly realised that I was going nowhere, with 3/4 of my time spent looking for tools and things. So I went out for some shopping, and came back to reshuffle all my stuff. It's still provisional, as I'll renovate the place in two to three years, but now everything's handy, I just have to get up for coffee or to put the airbrush in the ultrasonic cleaner. I've even a bottled gas heater! Together with a Co² détector. There will bee certainly some tweaks here and there, but overall the setup is now more than ok. Now let's build some plastic!
  2. Much too early to have a precise idea, but... - CC four-engined aircraft, VLR Lib' or Fortress? - CC twin, Hudson? - Nieuport or SPAD? - FAA SEP fighter? - Some captured aircraft that have seen service again, like AVM Broadhurst's Storch?
  3. Hi Aaron, I didn't go as far as dry fiting, I just had a closer look, that's all. Can't speak about shape and dimensions too. But overall, it seems to look like a real Tu-128, which is fine with me. I'm just concerned a bit by those seats, and by the pit, but I can live with this. I've a reference book in english, not really modellers friendly, but at least with dimensions and a few pics, so I'll have a better look when I decide to start building the kit.
  4. I went again through the kit yesterday after reading your comments, and indeed, there must be something with the seat! Tu-128 crews were certainly the same stature as Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson! I don't know for elsewhere, but in France, when you check a tire, the general condition count the same as the wear indicators. If you have a wear indicator which looks fine, and, say, a big escalope going through the layer nearby, the tire goes to the bin.

  7. Well, for a best performance climb to 50000 ft starting from an aircraft carrier, you don't have that much possibilities...
  8. Also, I did just took some time to compare the front fuselage to the drawings included in the DTU vol.2, Mirage IIIE's bible. Yes, I've the book.. and the kit! for we need at least one of us who got it, uh? Feel free to comment and use those pics for any demonstration you need, as far as I'm concerned, I'm off this topic.
  9. I've just found this picture on one of the BM Walkaround set up by our very own Julien. The jet is camouflaged, and obviously has been given a fresh coat of paint before being exposed. And the rivet shows...
  10. I can't see anything wrong with the nose. And I'm afraid the rivets might disappear under the first coat of paint, subtle as they are. Maybe my point of view is different because I've the sprues under the nose as I write.
  11. Its a well known fact in France (and I believe in the UK?) that there's quite a number of Brit citizens that live full time or at least a few months a year in Beautiful France. I used to live for some time in Britanny, and I thought at the time that most "French" Brits (Frits?) were installed in the region. I know its wrong now, they're spread all over the country! I'm now in central France, not far from Lyon, and I work in a small aviation maintenance workshop. The other day, I heard voices speaking in english coming from the adjacent flying club, and I went to investigate. The chief pilot/Instructor was talking to an english man that wanted informations to sign in with the club to learn to fly! So they've made it this far!!! More seriously, I know that some of them are active BM members. Some I know, some I've heard about, and some I don't. Whatever, it would be nice to hear from you, so feel free to drop a few line here or by PM.
  12. Think the same, word for word. Also, can't understand all that fuss about the rivets. I spent an hour yesterday looking at the sprues, and I can't remember seeing rivet lines so subtle on any kit before. Cockpit and wheel bays detail level is just unbelievable at this scale. And you get an AN52 nuclear bomb, that type being not so common on the market. I would have liked more weapons options, but to be honest, there's already two pairs of missiles, three pairs of RP, the Barax/Phimat duo, and the AN52. This is where the SH kit is certain to have the edge. Whatever, I've already two boxes, and I'll get probably two more!

  16. Hi folks, I know there are a few Armée de l'Air fans among you, who might welcome this new book, to be released soon. Written by the team responsible for F-100 and SMB2 in AdA books, not to forget the Mirage trilogy. The title says AdA only, but as in the SMB2 book, no doubt that there will be a chapter dedicated to Indian and Israeli birds. Here you go if you want to learn a bit more, or order the other two books.

That's fine with me, I'm well aware of the problem, as the Hobby is an on and off affair for myself since years, the longer being twenty years off, and I'm just out (Hopefully) of another five years off. Work, life, no place for workbench, alcohol (), you name it... Far too many (bad) reasons.
