  1. Coming along nicely Beefy, I had trouble with the bridge as well - ending up hand painting it to get a result I was happy (ish) with. ATB, Dave
  2. Thanks Guys. beefy - I'll keep an watch on your progress, good luck the bridge is a bit of a pain with that transparent plastic. steve - sadly no, after the investigation had finished with her, she was towed away in the dead of night and scrapped. ATB, Dave
  3. Afternoon everyone As a kid I grew up on the Clydeside (Old Kilpatrick) during the 1970's and one of our favourite pastimes was watching the mighty tugboats sail past. My dream then was to be a tug boat captain but ended up becoming a draughtsman as sometimes happens in life. Still love to watch them when I can, though its a bit hard when living in Warwickshire! The Flying Phantom was built by Ferguson Bros, Port Glasgow and launched in 1981. She assisted ships with navigation and was also equipped as a fire fighter. Tragically on 19 December 2007 she was dragged over and sank while assisting a cargo ship past Clydebank in deep fog with the loss of Stephen Humphreys (captain), Robert Cameron (engineer) and Eric Blackley (deckhand) with only Brian Aitchison surviving. https://www.gov.uk/maib-reports/girting-and-capsize-of-tug-flying-phantom-while-towing-bulk-carrier-red-jasmine-on-river-clyde-scotland-resulting-in-1-person-injured-and-loss-of-3-lives In tribute I have modelled the Revell 1/144 Fairplay X as the Flying Phantom 2 in the Clydeside colours of the 70/80's. I have added, chains, ropes, winch hydraulics, dinghy cover and my own decals as extra detail. Hope you like them ATB, Dave
  4. Very nice work sir - I'm looking to do my second bike, a Kawasaki, and will also be trying out Marks tips.
  5. Great build well done - I now have the treat of the Emirates A380 from Dubai into Birmingham overhead most lunchtimes - amazing how quiet the Airbuses are today.
  6. Nicely battered - like it a lot, well done in persevering!
  7. Got to agree, feels like you could just jump in and go for a drive!
  8. Evening all, my first RFI and this is my take on the Panigale. Paint job is a nod to the great Mike Hailwood who died in a tragic road traffic accident back in 1981 just aged 40 (I was just 18) near where I now live, story here for those interested: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Hailwood I can still remember at college one guy arriving in a Mike Hailwood Replica, caused quite a stir Apologies for quality of photos taken with my iPhone, need to sort a proper camera out. I Really enjoyed doing the build, had problems with the fiddly mirrors, rear end needed much coaxing and Tamiya TS8 decanted was a nightmare to cleanup airbrush etc afterwards. My thanks go to Imster, jimmysze, CWT and others for info gained from their excellent builds. Anyhoo here are the pics: Comments and criticisms welcome, ATB, Dave.
