Working on a Sword Strikemaster in 1/72nd. So far, so good, but it's alarming that the sprue gates are often larger than the parts attached to them. And whoever designed the mould for the towel-rail antenna really doesn't like me.

Following from my last question, does anyone have any suggestions for a first RC aircraft? I have seen good things about the E-Flite Apprentice. Does anyone know this aircraft?

Excellent! I got my lad a second hand Futaba 6 channel transmitter on Ebay, plus a compatible receiver and then you can pick a Plug and Fly aircraft of your choosing and you will then have much better kit than if you buy a RTF package. The aircraft are probably the least expensive component of the package!

I would have a chat at your local club before deciding. They may have a club trainer that you can learn the basics on. You may find that you can pick up the basics - aircraft, transmitter and receiver more cheaply separately than the one you indicated. And then you can take out the receiver and put it in another aircraft when you get more advanced. Have a look on the Hobbyking website.

Good books on the RAF in the 1950s? Aside from Cold War Shield, of course.

Just had the most remarkable idea for a Phoenix-armed Gnat whif.
