  1. It’s Modeldecal 115 - actually it’s not one of the Gulf War specials. Air Graphics also have this aircraft on their Lynx sheet.
  2. Another one for my Gulf War collection - this the old Airfix Army Lynx kit as the base, with the Air Graphics set to create an AH1GT with TOW missiles and exhaust diffusers. There is not a huge amount left of the original kit with the upgrade set giving you new interior, upper fuselage, tail, nose and rotor head. Although I find these extensive conversions somewhat intimidating, this was actually a very well thought out and well fitting set - you definately got the feel that the mould designed would have actually completed one of his own creations whereas some conversions are so ill-fitting you wonder if the designers ever bothered with making one!! I did sand down the upper door rails a little - these had faithfully replicated the Airfix ones designed to allow the doors to slide but as a result are more prominent than on the real aircraft (unlike the Hobby Boss Lynx where they are totally missing). You need to build some of the TOW missile bracing from bits of sprue although you cant really make it out in the pics. Paint was Xtracrylix Desert Pink over Light Stone, with the decals coming from one of the old Modeldecal sheets. Hope you like!! Pat
  3. aha - Thought I had seen the answer somewhere on here!
  4. I was pretty sure it was related to serial blocks - for example I have never seen any XF block Provosts with the ribbing. Pat
  5. @TEZ what did you think of the pic of the GA11 with the T4s? They appear to have a different hue although On closer inspection the T4 wing looks a different hue to its fuselage so I wonder if it’s just light reflecting differently.
  6. @bentwaters81tfw oops - Ive removed it and will replace with a different pic
  7. Pics all from public sources - what do we reckon? I would say these all look the same colour - however, check the pic linked below which has thrown me somewhat. https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/368943394445533808/
  8. Not at this hour of the morning Graham ! 😁 70/71 they would have been XDSG over white with various training squadrons.
  9. @bentwaters81tfw Interesting - I’ve been comparing pics of the all over grey FRADU Hunters to all over DSG Harrier FRS1 and to my eyes the colour looks the same. There’s also a pic of WW654 on the same site that shows It with a darker grey nose.
  10. @Graham Boak I believe they went from XDSG over white to all over DSG - same as Sea Harriers and Lynx of the same period. @expositor Thank you!! On your colour concern bear in mind the very different lighting conditions in the photos
  11. @perdu yes indeed it is in the green and medium grey scheme.
  12. That was exactly my thought - but I can see how that could look green in that light.
  13. Many thanks @speedy I took this pic last year and reckoned the rotor mast and blade arms were dark grey (compare to the camo green) but again the light isn't great in TAFM. You reckon it's more of a green colour?
  14. My effort at a GA11 using the Alley Cat set plus an old Aeroclub F4 jetpipe and Modelart decals, but I ignored the vents. Also added a further option the PR10 - again using the same Alley Cat/ FAA Models /Aeroclub/ Modelart combo although I remember I had to make the PR nose fractionally longer. @Giorgio N I did read somewhere that in fact the tailpipe of the less powerful Avon was the same diameter as in F6/ FGA9 but it was the fairing around it that was less bulky (less heat generated?). Can't vouch for the accuracy of that however. Certainly agree with you that the Royal Navy GA11 with the early nose is the best looking Hunter!!!!!
  15. That the Air Graphics sets you got there on your Scout? Looks nice - am doing one myself hence the question!! Pat
  16. Ah yes now you mention it I was looking at Wasp pictures and assuming the Scout would have the same colour blades- I took some good pics of the Scout rotor head when I visited Middle Wallop last year but can’t make out the blade colour due to the poor light 🙄 Pat
  17. Grateful for any thoughts on this please - looks like a light grey upper surface and maybe black lower surface but hoping someone has a more definitive view!! Pat

    Mel Bromley RIP

Oh dear that’s really sad news - I always liked chatting to Mel - as he always said he stood out a mile as the smartest person by a long way at model shows!!
  19. Really nice Puma - that nose glazing is a nightmare isn’t it but your end result is excellent!! Pat
  20. Looks great Tony - how is the Academy kit in general to build ? Have long planned an RAF Ventura with the rather rueful looking duck on the side (Hells a Poppin’?). Pat
  21. Luminous stripe decals available from these guys - good service as well. https://tinwizard.de/shop/ pat
  22. Looks superb Ced - did you trim the rotor blades in the end? Seeing yours gives me the kick I need to pick mine up again! Pat
  23. I was planning on using a curved bit of acetate sanded to shape for the roof windows and then painting the canopy frame - I didn’t think the size of the LF roof windows bore much resemblance to the real ones. Pat
  24. That’s the ones Ced!! If you have a look at pics of the Dragonfly with folded blades you can see that the LF ones look way too wide. I think the blade length is fine though. Pat
  25. If you are building this with the metal blades I had my Dad measure the chord of the blades of the FAAMs Dragonfly - they scaled out at 5.7mm in 72nd which is quite a bit narrower than the LF kit metal blades (I think they are about 9mm wide). Did you get the two halves of the tail to join up ? I ended up sawing off one of the tail booms in order to get them to join without that enormous step!!! Pat
