  1. nice shots in the great outdoors you get the best lighting and shadows. nice!
  2. I did finally finish this build. https://popeyesquadron.wordpress.com/2016/04/22/revell-fokker-d-vii-128-scale-part-11/ https://popeyesquadron.wordpress.com/2016/04/22/revell-fokker-d-vii-128-scale-gallery/ hope you enjoy and thanks for looking in
  3. came out looking great! the firewall looks neat.......now I see what you were going to with the technique you were playing with. love the colors......an overall super build
  4. I have a couple more updates for this build: https://popeyesquadron.wordpress.com/2016/04/07/revell-fokker-d-vii-128-scale-part-9/ https://popeyesquadron.wordpress.com/2016/04/07/revell-fokker-d-vii-128-scale-part-10/ I was hoping to have finished this one by now.......I only have a few more things to do hope you enjoy and thanks for looking in.
  5. popeye has quite a history.......more than that I wasn't born yet to have seen his beginnings in the comic strip 'thimble theater' .....spinach wasn't used to give him added strength until much later. in the beginning there was stroking the head of a 'whiffle hen' , a short stint where he sniffed garlic, and then to spinach by 1938. next to the three stooges, Popeye was my favorite. and yes, I do like spinach. in the U.S. Allen foods released canned spinach with Popeye on the label. one can I tried and kept the can........another is still in the cubboard. don't eat it.......soggy as hell {I should look at the expiration date on it}.
  6. really nice job on the albatros hull spud.........it would make me want to clear coat it as well ..super job with the deck planking as well !
  7. wonderful progress Warren...truly a lot of work is going into this build, and it looks great!
  8. so sorry to see the damage KP...........that's progress that could never be liked it possibly can be repaired with a suitable piece of dowel.
  9. I've never heard of the product....I'll have to check it out. I think I have them bookmarked awesome! what will you be building next?
  10. I have some deck planking coming up........I can show you the India Ink method.......of course I'll start a log for it I'm doing a Christmas tree boat {A holiday thing for the admiral} and I have a trawler that needs the aft deck planked. both of these builds are a product of hull replication. actually, I have the Revell U.S.S. United States 1:96.....I left off with the decking. I gave it wooden decks. https://maryanndrydock.wordpress.com/2014/05/21/u-s-s-united-states-part-23-2/ this is with the .7 x 3 mm Annegre planking......I get it from Billing USA. most of the kits I've built are Billing Boats. this one has a two plank butt stagger......there are formulas for up to four.
  11. I have a couple more updates for the build. I hope you enjoy. https://popeyesquadron.wordpress.com/2016/03/18/revell-fokker-d-vii-128-scale-part-7/ https://popeyesquadron.wordpress.com/2016/03/18/revell-fokker-d-vii-128-scale-part-8/ thanks for looking in.
  12. no gentlemen.......be my guest. I was only going by the info I found. I know the wiki is known for bad info. I found this site a few days ago....marvelous reading. http://www.hq.nasa.gov/pao/History/SP-468/ch2-2.htm I've always known that there are a lot of kits out there that are riddled with problems........I got into wooden ships hoping to avoid all that........guess not there as well >shrug< I still manage to have fun though...what I can change, I do......and what I can't....well, what you see is what you get. and....no, I wasn't thinking of a Fokker D VIII....never entered my mind. I built a Guillow's flying kit of one quite a few years ago....the darn thing was my best flyer! I plan on building a Guillow's Fokker Dr 1 sometime in the near future....got the kit in my closet I do have one suggestion.....you and your books could go to these sites that have self edit, and correct some of the mistakes that others have made. that would put the rest of us modelers on a more level playing field. that would also eliminate the four word comments with no explanation. as for me.....all I can do is apologize to you. I usually don't get that descriptive because there are folks out there that know more than me. I'm just an average joe.......a regular guy. I shouldn't have created such a firestorm.
  13. who say you need a complex kit to make a beautiful model? awesome looking car, and a perfect blend of color.
