  1. That's super cool and so small! I'm truly amazed how amazing it looks.
  2. Also I'm not sure if this is related (not really an expert on WWII USN aircraft) but I took a look inside the 2 HobbyBoss Hellcats that I have, both the -3 and -5. Both kits contain aircraft that specifically have no kill markings at all.
  3. I understand that appears to be the overall reasoning behind all of this, possibly. However I don't understand what you are referring to, the entire issue or the Academy VF-111 markings? If it is the latter I don't see how negative publicity leads to a decision in producing those markings as it is still showing the rising sun, which seems to be the center of the discussion.
  4. Wing roots weather faster due to the crew members constantly walking on them to get in and out of the cockpit.
  5. I don't believe this has anything to do with South Korea. If that was the case then why did Academy put VF-111 markings that have the dominant rising sun on the vertical tail in 1/48 F-4B and F-14A kits?
  6. That's really nice. What paints are you using?
  7. I believe Agent K is correct. It's probably important to read more than the short blurb on BBC (not criticizing the BBC). https://www.expressandstar.com/news/uk-news/2020/04/30/raf-chief-scorns-russia-after-two-planes-intercepted-near-scotland/
  8. @Corsairfoxfouruncle you're able to use water with them and it's working? Wow. Ok then.
  9. And here I bought after believing it could be sprayed right out of the bottle. Worst part is is every supplier of the Brand's thinner is continuously out of stock. Last question (for now) I promise, what's the ratio of the Vallejo and paint? That brand I can get locally.
  10. What're you using to cut the AMMO paints with? Their thinner?
  11. I love Pensacola. Used to go there every spring break for about 6 or 7 years as a kid. Haven't been back in maybe 20. Thanks for the pics. The Skyhawks are the most memorable pieces there.
  12. Huey and Cobra pilots are not really different in my perspective and I am sure you had more than your share of fun in them! Thank you for your service. I got to tag a ride or two as a kid when he would be flying slicks out of Hood during his stint there. Never got a chance fly in a Cobra. Hopefully that'll change with these ones on the airshow circuits. And your're absolutely right about the AH-56, it really wasn't the AH-64 that killed it. The A-10 program and the brass at the USAF did it in. Fixed wing, super fast, stepping in their territory (even thought the Army flew fixed wing aircraft the whole time), etc. etc. The blunders of the past always seem to outlive those who made the decisions. Now the USAF wants to get rid of the A-10. My, my, how karma has come back around. What I don't understand is why hasn't the USAF chimed in on the S-97 Raider already since it's almost a contemporary version of the Cheyenne? So many questions and head scratching. It'll never end. BTW if you ever want to build a 1/48 AH-1F, check out Floyd Werner's company Werner's Wings. The decal sheet he has for Cobra's has a few that my dad flew in or commanded during the first Gulf War.
  13. Probably one of the cleanest builds of this model I've ever seen. My dad was a Cobra pilot in the 70's and worked with the Comanche program in the mid 90's so I heard a lot about the Cheyenne while growing up. He always had great things to say about it and even to this day is bitter about the Pentagon's decision to scrap it in favor of the Apache. I really like what you did here with the weapons configuration and improved cockpit pieces. Well done. Would really be something if we ever saw this aircraft in 1/48.
  14. ^^^ I'm with Steven. I've got way to many schemes to build and the ZMs will supplement my large collection of Hasegawas already amassed.
  15. Looking good. Can't wait to start working on mine after a few more builds to get through.
  16. Actually a Wild Weasel aircraft from Vietnam would be either an F-100F, an F-105F, an F-105G, or an F-4C. All need to have the Weasel specific antenna and some black boxes in the cockpit (depending on how detailed you want to get) however. The only OOB kits would be the F-105G but for an F-105F it would not take more than probably 10 minutes worth of effort to make some extra antenna.
  17. That is awesome! I bought my first Airfix P-40B a few weeks ago, looks like I'll have to get the RAF version now as well. Exactly how I'd like my in-flight prop models to look. Where did you source the pilot from?
  18. They "sun-bleached/worn" look really does stand out more in the outside pictures Rich. Great job.
  19. Yes I got the Yahu IP. And Eduard MK Vb belts as I figure that's close enough. Still haven't decided if it'll be wheels up though. As far as weathering goes I'm on the lookout on @trickyrich's builds plus some other's that I have found.
  20. My Tamiya kit arrived in the mail yesterday. Now just waiting on the IP, belts, barrels (bought the Master set as I like the metal ones), decals and paints. Hopefully I can get started on it this weekend. I am definitely going to following your build as a guide so keep up the good work (no pressure LOL).
  21. Not sure if this is helpful but KASL Hobby makes flaps and slates for the Hasegawa kits and are relatively easy to come across.
