  1. This was released 'oop north' a few months ago and I thought 'hell, why not!'. The TV advert said it was mostly all metal construction, so that was tempting. I bought the first issue with the metal bits, then when the subsequent parts came out, they were injection plastic....totally contrary to the advert, so I binned it.
  2. I am an enamel convert. I now use Gunze which seems to have the same spraying qualities of enamel. Fine pigment and easy, even coating, finishing with a surface which isn't likely to chip or peel so easy. Get yer Gunze from HERE You won't be disappointed In my experience, Gunze drys very quickly, either thinned with water or Mr. Thinner. I can mask and paint within 10 mins.
  3. I've been given a couple of these recently, and despite the snazzy layout, it's a lightweight in comparison with MAI and SAMI. I can usually finish with SAM after about 10 mins and not bother to return to it, unlike the other mags which I return to from time to time. WTF is a 'compact build review'? Money best spent elsewhere I think, and it's just as well I never paid for my copies.
  4. Garth, that is bloody gorgeous! Thanks for making this kit so fantastic!
  5. Great way to solve that 'fit' problem on the main areas! I got the Royal Edition in the attic. I'll remember this for when I start mine.
  6. The best Humbrol for RLM76 is NOT Humbrol. The stuff is cack. THIS is what to use. It's acrylic and coats every bit as well as any enamel as the pigment is extremely fine. I swear by this stuff now.
  7. Not a very good tip for someone who wants to learn to airbrush though
  8. This is a good book for a beginner too: I never understood the 'consistency of skimmed milk' analogy. I think that's more there to make the supremos sound more complicated than it is. You can't tell much between that and water! I go for either a 50:50 or 60:40 thiner to paint ratio for most things, sprayed at between 15 to 20PSI. I do use higher pressures for some stuff, but that is the main formula for my mixes and use. If I do mottle, I thin down to between 80:20 and 90:10 thinner to paint.
  9. There would be no worries about the reliability of a cooker hood, but a kitchen wall extractor fan could be dodgy. Having said this, you have both particules and vapours that need to be removed. Will the above do both of these to a level where your health isn't compromised? I personally wouldn't use a DIY booth, but instead buy a product which is designed to do the job and prolong your life. What price your health?
  10. I have some vinyl gloves if you want to try them Mike. I'm back at work next week and can send you some over if you think they may help.
  11. Ah, but you made a fine job of it I think this was the kit I saw bashed in Air Modeller. All kudos to you! I love it.
  12. You just HAVE to fit the wooden decks. I have the wooden decks for my 1/350 Nagato, and they look awesome.
  13. Xtracolor XDFF Mix 50:50 with enamel thinners or white spirit. You can't get a flatter finish. Highly recommended.
  14. Apologies for bringing up an old topic, but for those interested in the newly re-released Handley Page Hampden that Tigger is producing, here is some inspiration
  15. Lovely work Spence. Any tips on how to get that wood effect? I'm hammering away at the WNW LVG C.VI at the moment, and I'm dreading the timber work.
  16. What obvious and peurile crap. A mag I certainly will never buy.

  18. Cheers guys, The model was all pre-shaded and the colours only lightly sprayed on so the preshading can still be seen and the panel centres look lighter. I did do a little post shading with Tamiya Smoke where I felt it needed to be defined more. Wash is with MIG Dark and finish is a 50/50 mix of Xtracolor Satin and Flat varnish, thinned 50% with white spirit. I wanted a very slight sheen, but mostly matt looking, if you know what I mean ...oh, the white numbers and letters are decals that came with Radu's conversion nose, as is the white band at the tail and the nose. The rest of the decals are Trumpeter ones.
  19. Can I order a Jumo 213 for my current project? Low running costs please
  20. Bloody hell Garth, that is fantastic! You are doing an amazing job of this classic kit. I'd love to see a shot of the exhause in the fuse.
  21. Ay'up all, I've been sent some new pictures, along with the couple of already released, of the forthcming Zoukei-mura Ta 152H-1 Pop along to Scale Plastic & Rail and see the Latest News on the front page. Jim
  22. THIS is the place to look.
