I think your right it might be his splatted body haha! At first i thought it was his ghost, it also reminded me of the tombstone that Luke was near at the end of The Force Awakens on his island.

Just because its a revel kit doesnt mean it cant be made into a really nice model, it will need some work but it looks like youve got the bull by the horns and i applaud you for having a go. Opened up & cutaway models always look good to me, theres something really cool about seeing something your not supposed to or hidden. I look forward to seeing where you go next with this, may the force be with you!

It is the 1/48 but ive took the moving wing motor, sounds & torpedo led's out for my custom X-wing build: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234997808-bob-solos-x-wing-135/page-3 I will make a new base, scratch a new inside for the wings and put a better Led kit back in it for brighter pulsing engines and lit up cockpit dash, PhantomMajor has another one hid under his bed, i was going to take that too but couldnt carry anyore haha!

I took the picture in my house but your right they are were your kits A-wing Open box review: http://www.gunjap.net/site/?p=302404

This should help BANDAI and this is just for starters, if they build them they will sell, Star Wars is a worldwide success story! I think BANDAI showing us the Star Destroyer again shows they want to build it, they are just trying to see how many people want it. Well i want it and i will buy it, so please make a 1/1700 Star Destoyer!

Congrats on saving the build, it looks fantastic so far! Making black/grey look good is really hard i think. Cant wait to see some of that lovely orange you do on there too, good luck

Looking at the original Star Destroyer prototype BANDAI showed at the hobby show there is a gap on the very front of the superstructure https://youtu.be/2pJFMFpfJCI?t=1m19s It can also been seen on the protoype in the latest video, with a bit of darker blue light coming from it too https://youtu.be/2EKAbXDe1BM?t=4m10s So imo this isnt the production version yet, it wouldnt have that gap for sure. Hopefully we will see BANDAI build a scaled up 94cm version of the little one.

I think bandai updated their website nice and early. On ebay sellers say that although they are taking pre-orders, it wont be released unitl 28th May 2016 and they will ship when they get stock.

The big ones awesome and now its got a mini me, this Base is going to be great. I like the Imperial logo idea too.

U9-C4 Astromech - Bandai 1/12

OMG thats such a cool droid, great paint & weathering, congrats! -
Just saw a post over on the RPF - The 1/72 A-wings ready! http://bandai-hobby.net/sw/jp/products/awing_starfighter.html Thank you Bandai! I love these in blue

I think the TV series would be a lot better if they abandoned the trouser press and left the 5000 cans of hairspray alone.
-
Great modeling there Andy, it looks totally battered in the best possible way! One thing that stood out to me was the yellow sticker on the front landing gear hatch, it might be the photography making it glow but it looks too new to fit in with the weathing elsewhere. Its a pleasure to watch this build, i look forward to your base!
-
Thanks for the info Andy, i think yours looks better for a slight gap at the front, the one on Bandai's site http://bandai-hobby.net/sw/jp/products/vm.htmlhas a very slight gap too: It will be interesting to see what Bandai make at 1/1700, imo this lil ones gap looks the right height running the full length of the hull, some model trenches look too tall. If Bandai can make it like this one but bigger, with or without a bigger front gap id be happy!

How about a bunch of noobs come out of warp with their shields down in hostile space, right in front of an agressive alien spaceship! The aliens can blow them up and kill half the crew before the moron captain says "evasive maneuvers" and still doesnt fire back. Then they can sissy surrender to "save the crew". At this point they can spend 50 mins schooling us on how violence is bad and how there are other alternatives. After inventing a "timewarp gadget thingy" by pressing a few buttons on a console they dissable the enemy ship and *violently blow it up* like they could have done in the first place. Back at Star Fleet the damaged ship is rebuilt at insane expense before being refilled with more death wish crew for next week. The moron bridge crew are not shot or imprissoned, but once more are allowed to do it all over again. Oh and the new guy with no lines always dies. Ooops i should have put *spoiler alert*

This was the picture i used to scale it up on my TV, Andy's lovely build, it does look parallel, with a slight opening at the front. Forward from the cut out the lower front hull side slopes down. At the front the trench also appears to be slightly more recessed from the hull side or the hull side sticks out more at the tip, which adds to the open front look. A really good looking Star Destroyer.

I think Star Wars should let him have one of the full sized props when they are done filming them or at least the "cardboard cut out" one. Its such a cool new design, really well balanced and well proportioned, light and agile looking. It makes the T-65 look more like a fighter bomber, which i guess is what it was haha! The new T-70 looks more fighter than bomber. I think hed look good splatted onto the front of the droids speeder like gravy haha! This was the early concept model, the front end of the side trench was always designed to be "open", i like it, gives it a kind of cruising slightly open mouthed shark look on the front of a giant spearhead. The Rogue One Star Destroyers trench is open at the front, then just past the cutout tall part the trench is pinched to its narrowest point. The hull plating might be thicker there too, then the trench looks like it flares out slightly towards the back? I like them all, not all Battleships/Aircraft carriers look the same, they are constantly evolving, we now have the Finalizer. I do really like Bandai's mini 11cm Star Destroyer design, i put it on my TV Screen and enlarged it to 94cm and it looks *FANTASTIC*! At 60cm long though it looked WAY too small and lacked the visual impact a Star Destoyer needs. I think a 94cm 1/1700 model would look best, its big enough to have a serious WOW Factor and see all the detail, but not being too wide it is still easily displayed in a home as a centerpiece to a Star Wars collection. With a metal tube running the length inside for support and mounted on a metal stand, with the option of mounting on a standard size height adjustable stand, Bandai would have built the best Star Wars Model ever!
-
I could see a 1/1700 scale Bandai Star Destroyer being used in the Star Wars Identities Exibition. With the new films being so much CGI they could paint one white and use it as one of the ships from the upcoming Rogue One film. They will need a new Finalizer Star Destroyer too. Im sure George Lucas will get to approve one and then keep it haha! He will be like "This isnt the Star Destroyer youre looking for.. Its mine.. ALL MINE.. MuWahahahaa!"
-
I have total faith in Bandai, which ever version they make im sure it will be amazing! https://youtu.be/L_udTzI_49A?t=1m37s Imagine that tiny Bandai Star Destroyer model scaled up to 1/1700 - 94cm long, the detail would be mindblowing What Star Wars collection would be complete without one? Im sure even George Lucas would want a 1/1700 Bandai Star Destroyer.
-
Cool video! I want to hug them all, Bandai are awesome! Looking at the Star Destroyer prototype in the video from front on i thought it was the "1/1700" one shown before, see how it has no "forced perspective" on the sides of the hull. The gap seems to stay the same from the front all the way down the side and not get smaller to the back. The Bridge seems to be similar too. See how the gap gets smaller to the rear: If i remember correctly other Star Destoyers had more of a gap at the rear, but the gap always got smaller toward the rear. Id love to model a 1/1700 Bandai Star Destoyer, a 1/48 AT-AT to match the AT-ST's and Snowspeeders would be awesome too!

Check out these stunning Alien models.

That Alien is SO COOL -
Those are some cool new releases to come from Bandai, its good to see all the previous models they have made so far displayed too. Lots of fun to be had with those two clone troopers. Droid on his Speeder is just so cool, even on its own, crouched, upright or C-3Po'd its a welcome addition. Tie Interceptor looks fantastic and the A-wing / Turret look great. Hopefully Bandai will make Rey in her scavenger outift and speeder too. Big thank you to Bandai for making these and i am really looking forward to seeing what they model next and in years to come.
