  1. Thanks ^.^ I think it came out quite well. Bit different to the usual schemes too.
  2. I'm going to Florennes this year so I'll get to see them! I hope they open it with Alpha jets like they have before!
  3. Hello all! This is my fifth model of the year. I did a bad Gnat (now binned) and 3 Fougas (found here). This one I adore, partly because I love the Alpha, partly because I love the Red Devils of Belgium (and this is the closest thing to a Red Devils Alpha that flew)! It isn't particually amazing. I'm still learning this. I only really properly started modelling this year. But I'm pretty happy with it overall. The decals in the canopy got a bit lopsided though, which is a shame, but oh well! Live and learn! The canopy also isn't stuck on properly yet. It's just resting in place because I need to get some pva for it. Well, enjoy ^.^
  4. Third post - but no-one's replied so I'm not bothered Some decals didn't survive application. But I've got another set on there way to replace those and do some touch ups. Overall I really love how it looks.
  5. Sorry for the low-res image (iphones in a not great lit area right now) but I've *started* the paint work. It's a pretty simple baisc scheme...then decals!
  6. Hello So to compliment my Fouga's that I've made I'm actually doing a Red Devils kind-of collection. Though the Alpha Jet was never officially Red Devils it definitely fits the theme. Here are some pictures of the plane irl. (credit to Belgian Wings for images). I bought the decals from Syhart. I've not done an amazing amount of work on it yet. It's the last Airfix release of the Alpha Jet (personally what I think is the better Alpha Jet klit due to the variations you can build). I bought it second hand - complete. The only issue was I didn't have instructions, but I've built it anyway. If you'd prefer to view the project on scalemates then it is here https://www.scalemates.com/profiles/mate.php?id=23698&p=albums&album=27596, if not look below! No painting has been done yet other than a small undercoat to help show some smaller inconsistancies for more sanding and filler! Should be aiming to get this done over the course of the next week.
  7. Ah, my mistake. Apparently the Airfix kit is just some new parts, not new tool. Overall, I think I'd recommend the Heller one though (plus it's nearly half the price a lot of the time). And thank you for your kind words all. Definitely and encouragement!
  8. I think it will happen less and less now as Heller is owned by a French toy giant, and Airfix is Hornby...but I love Heller as they do some interesting subjects
  9. I can confirm that the Airfix and Heller kit are BOTH different and the Airfix is a new tool. The Airfix one builds *way* easier but has less detail and doesn't give you as many options. The Heller decals are not great. I mean they are really good quality but just fall apart really easy compared to any decals I've ever used.
  10. Sure. http://patrouillesacrobatiquesenmaquettes.e-monsite.com/ I actually got mine through eBay. I will say I used the Belgium roundels from the Airfix kit, white stripes from the Heller kit, and then the 50 from Tomcat, and the RD logo from Tomcats. They're a cottage industry set of decals - on white paper but they're still ace
  11. My first post in RFI. I made 3 kits - all with out of box parts. The only extra things used were Tomcat Decals for Red Devils markings. The Red Devils and Patrouillle de France are both Heller kits, the Silver Swallows is an Airfix kit (which needs some very slight touch ups ...but I'm done with it for now). These are my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th models so they're not like pro level but I'm still pretty proud of them.
  12. Well I've got into modelling after about 3 years absence. I've massively got into trainers and display teams. I've already build a Gnat (which was pretty awful), a Fouga Magister (Heller, which went ok bar the decals), and now I'm on my second Fouga - this time for the Belgium national display team Diables Rouges. I've also got an Alpha Jet to do in similar colours (2003 solo display) and I'll be doing both their other aircraft too. Sorry for big images, I don't know how to make them smaller without re uploading. Comparing the decals and paint colours. Day One : Progress. Fully built and covered in red. Day 2 progress.
  13. To be honest, it's not much worse than when you do Patrouille de France or Diablo Rouges Fouga Maigster/Alpha Jets. Just use masking tape, take your time, and maybe make a mask too. Can you do us all a favour and keep a list of what paints you use for the model? As you're the first here to brave it - and we all want to make one
  14. He does speak English too - as I messaged him on eBay and he responded promptly. Just remember it's a 30 day wait PER model.
  15. I've just bought the Patrulla Aguila 1/72 version of this from them! Just gotta wait for it to made and delivered now!
