  3. These are not the dorks you are looking for....
  4. Been meaning to do this and today seems as good a day as any.. Not sure if this the wrong place but Im wading in anyway. I'm a blacksmith, but Im easily distracted. Last year I made one of these. mostly for idle amusement,( I needed cheering up having closed a shop I was running.) Having done that I was bombarded with pics on facebook of a rubbish darth vader woodburner, and I new I could do better so I made this. and then the ball was rolling... and so today Im off to spend Star Wars day in a shop doing a 'meet the maker' thing...
  5. One of these days I shall stumble across a cheapo four post car lift and make that T2 garden shed. It would be good to have somewhere to keep the T4 lawnmower...
  6. Yay! Dis I see somewhere the plan is to refuel them eventually and fly it back to the launch site? Not this particular one, but in good time..
  7. It's from 1954 according to DVLC and its SORN at the moment. It's a 30C if that helps.
  8. Did you paint two top wings one colour and two bottom wings the other colour?
  9. I thought' Tornado nose cone paint' was the thing..
  10. I did a little work for some chaps in York restoring some Pullman carriages, they had all sorts of drawings, right down to the light fittings... I'll see if I can find some details..
  11. Gods no. Companion sets, hooks, hinges and spaceships... My Mother was the last person to shoe a horse here, Im more than happy to let her keep the record..
  12. Thats why I'm a blacksmith now. found a job in the warm... Once you have had your boss wandering about with the burner off his hot air balloon melting the snow off the stone pile there comes a little voice saying 'Yeah, wouldn't it be great to have a fire all the time...'
  13. I can offer no advice on how to build a diorama, but I can tell you as a reformed dry stone waller the tin would be on the other side of the wall with a couple of stakes to hold it in place... apart from that, its a cracking job!
  14. Im self employed, working at home. I live 3 miles from RAF Fairford. a lot of the displays seem to use the edge of the village as marker for turning, and there were helicopters too low to get pictures of...
  15. Scale has caused me all sorts of fun. I have been I suppose its scratch building in steel... I did a tie fighter based on the sized of sphere I could get (120mm) and then scaled it to fit that. Then wanted to do an X wing to go with, but its all so random... I've just started on an AT-AT and had a silly thought of having a snowspeeder buzzing round it, but the AT-AT is being built around a BBQ so its a bit large scale for any kits so I'll have to scratch that too... As far as the actual scale of the finished thing I'd love to say its 1/6th or 1/12 or whatever but the starting point for working out a scale is pretty random... What scale is a 1.4 metre tall AT-AT? As long as the proportions are right I'm not overly bothered, TBH.
  16. Is this cold bluing fluid? Liberon do some stuff called Haematite which is similar (in effect and unpleasantness, by the sound of it..)
  17. When I've finished messing about with ties and x-wings and Vader heads I'm going to make a AT-AT barbecue. I'm sorry but these things have to be done. I'm mulling over AT-ST garden lights to go with it...
