  1. I find it astounding that Round 2 not only did not include the essential decals with the kit, but then discontinued producing the decals while still selling the kit. Word was they were trying to keep the cost low for the kit but I don't think it raised the price too much considering what the Refit sells for which includes decals IIRC I just went through their site and the only Reliant decals available are for the 1/537 edition.
  2. As far as I know no release dates of any of the kits has been officially announced. Personally I do hope it will not be soon and these are digitally printed test pieces- that way there is some chance of having the various problems corrected before tooling.
  3. I will just be glad to see Bandai release some subjects that have not already been done so many times before.
  4. It is very well done. My only problem is the way things were filmed with soft out of focus glows- I know it was a way to make his compositing blend well but it gave me a headache (I had the same problem with 'Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow'). Ah- the problems with old eyes. The Horizon film was almost a one man production and a true labor of love.
  5. I don't like the color reversal they used in TFA- sure make the hull any color you want but it does not make engineering sense to me to suddenly having light grey solar panels. I painted mine metallic steel instead
  6. The Dragon Falcon seems to be a hodgepodge of different versions- sort of what Revell did with their TOS Enterprise kit. What bothers me the most is that the new dish on top is obviously too big when you compare it to any reference image, my only hope it that this is an early test shot and somebody will fix it before tooling.
  7. I like the scale Dragon is using but the accuracy of some of these kits bothers me. as mentioned up-thread, These are well known subjects with a lot of references available, being produced for a public who knows the differences.
  8. The Aoshima Thunderbird 4 kit is on my short list- I have an unbuilt Imai one but keep putting it off- so much work needs to be done to make it look right. Aoshima did such a fantastic job with Thunderbird 3 that I was looking forward to seeing what their take on TB4 would be like. The wheels bother me a bit since a lot of the japanese kits have that play action feature fixation, but then again we did see TB4 did operate out of the water occasionally so some sort of lower gear was implied. I assume the motor was for the wheels or does it have another purpose?
  9. Sorry to hear about he decals- other than that how was the kit?
  10. I think part of the seam problem is that the model comes apart so you can see the interiors- a gap might be unavoidable there. Other parts are simple enough to fix- just cut off the snap-fit pieces and glue them together.
  11. I have see these scattered around- thanks so much for putting them all together in such an easy format!
  12. I personally consider it the other way around. 'Full scale' set props are usually undersized (IIRC the TESB Falcon set prop) was 80%). The filming models are what you watch most of the time on screen- the set props are there for people to walk around and dive context to. The Lambda Shuttle had a lot of distortions to get it built on stage and those construction blueprints were circulated creating a lot of disinformation about it's cockpit and overall shape. Sometimes a company pulls it's references from multiple sources, striving for a happy medium. Revell's TOS Enterprise incorporates info even from the animated series, unfortunately this results in a model kit that does not look like any particular version of the ship. From what I have read, it seems Dragon has been using sources from books and online blueprints instead of visiting the actual model and taking measurements. Things do look off on the Snowspeeder proportions, I hope this will be corrected before molds are tooled. I would love to have an accurate 1/35 replica of this craft.
  13. ? Are you referring to the Rouge One film or perhaps Episode 8?- I have not run across any suggestions of a new version of a Y-Wing yet...
  14. I am getting the Special Forces version instead of the standard New Order TIE for my collection- I want to display it next to my Bandai classic TIE and the Std N.O.TIE just does not look different enough...
  15. I can see making the ATAT 1/35 works with the existing armor lines and diorama stuff, but it is larger than studio scale. Personally I think matching it to studio scale would be both easier to duplicate the detailing and open up the market for those who really love and recreate studio scale replicas instead of going with other stock sizes...
  16. I have been waiting for a kit like this for decades- not too sure what I will do with mine so I am watching this build with interest.
  17. I haven't bought from Amazon yet but I have found some great deals on eBay for the Bandai kits. You can adjust the filter to show lowest price (including shipping) first. I live in the USA so the VAT is not an issue, butt here haven't been any extra charges, just a private individual selling to another.
  18. Yes, the ISD is far too small, but look at the detail they put on the bridge- https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xta1/v/t1.0-9/12662532_10154576278107576_7350537794618104440_n.jpg?oh=1dd75ebd197d5791219fe4f7e0c4bcf3&oe=572D5C4A I am happy with the range of subjects announce- ships from the prequels as well. These may be to gauge what is going to sell well for larger kits to follow.
  19. Additional information about the smaller Star Wars kits- https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xta1/v/t1.0-9/12662532_10154576278107576_7350537794618104440_n.jpg?oh=1dd75ebd197d5791219fe4f7e0c4bcf3&oe=572D5C4A
  20. The FineMolds kit has great detail but it is not accurate in saucer hull shape and of course the mandible issue. Personally I am going to wait and hopefully get the Bandai 1/72 Falcon. Their 1/144 was spot on and I think a larger kit will eventually make it to market. Bandai is releasing a small kit (around 4 Inches/10 cm) of the classic Star Destroyer- https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xal1/v/t1.0-9/12512517_10154547852437576_6228390464202129908_n.jpg?oh=7be2313ab42e069e1313ff34dc1674b7&oe=57442EF0
