Saw one today at the Fort Worth airshow belonging to Tacair. A silver equivalent to Xtracolor Airframe Silver or anything similar. Just basic silver.

The wing to fuselage attach is rinky dink. Dry fit and figure out a way to reinforce the assembly to getva sturdy bond.

Ha! I just finished the Mono T-Stick jet. You can see some of my “meh” pix of it over at Hyperscale Plastic Pics if you're interested. I was in the “Spads” for 9 years. One of those jets, 61-100 is still on display there behind the BX.

Thanks Dad! I was have assumed the Tallboy conversion came sometime after this aircraft had been in action. The whole nose art thing is a quandary, isn’t it?

Does anyone know when this Lanc was fitted for Tallboy. I’d love to do a 32 Lanc as JW but the big doors make this problematic. Comments?

I’ve built both. The Mono kit is one of my favs of all time. In it’s day, it was amazing. For the money, it’s still acceptable. As stated above, fit snd raised detail need dealing with. Conversely, Trump’s has crisp molding, better fit and is not that far off shape-wise if at all really. A limitation with Trump’s is the late style canopy sans the heavier frame of the ‘6 up until the mid 70s. There are some aftermarket goodies for Trump’s as well including intake ducts. There should still be some aftermarket decals floating around from Super Scale and Caracal. I’m surprised Trump didn't blow their 48 th up to 32nd. That would make a monster!

I will give you a solid answer based on my experience as a USAF Maintenance Officer on T-38s from May 1978 to June 1984. The T-38 and F-5 shared the same seat. Sometime around 1975, USAF issued Time Change Technical Order (TCTO) 944. TCTOs are issued practically everyday on every weapon system in the Air Force. They consist of written directions, a timeline for compliance and kits with the necessary parts if required. TCTOS can be a mere inspection, the replacement of a screw or a major modification. TCTO 944 was essentially the installation of a drogue chute housing on the existing Northrop seat. This gave the existing seat a zero altitude, 75 knot capability. When I arrived at Reese AFB in May 1978, all but a few of the 120 plus T-38s had received the TCTO. I was assigned to Nellis in July 1985. Of course all of the aggressors were modified by that time. I have all of the 57th Corrosion Shop’s sketches of the aggressor paint schemes used in early to mid 80s period. PM me if you need help with paint.

If you want to go ape s**t, there used to be a “corrected” nose and intake trunks as well. Do a web search to nail it if you're so inclined.

The ZM kit makes an outstanding replica. Most folks on this or any other thread would have never recognized the so called fuselage and canopy shape issues including me. I’m not trying to pick a fight, but honestly there has been too much fervor on this topic. To the author of the original post, if you don’t know the differences between a navy B and an AF C, why would you be concerned with a slight shape problem. Get the ZM C/D and have a blast building it.

The “new” scheme is known as “Z-13”. It’s whole purpose is to speed production and save money by using a single color. I believe it was implemented in 2017. 36170 gray is certainly an elusive color and highly subjective.

Xtracolor makes RAF Roundel Blue. Of course there is no guarantee it will match your project but you could give it a shot. Kitlinx in the US has rhe full range and those paints are really excellent.

When I deployed to Al Jabar 1998 with F-16s, a mess of ‘117’s were there as well. That was the first time I heard them called “Stink Bugs”!
