I completely agree with Adrian. Thanks for introducing me to these unique machines I don't know about @Marklo. I think the Oertz is an elegant plane. "Flying schooner" is an appropriate nickname.

I thought it was an April Fool's Day entry. But no, you @Marklo posted THAT WHATSIT on march 28????? Pablo Picasso's plane?

Been waiting for sooo long! And a🇧🇪 option for the first boxing! 🤩 I shall have to be fast before Heather @Heather Kay buys the whole first batch! 😉

A teacher asked her 5 grade class to talk to their parents about life events in their families that demonstrate a moral. For example, the early bird gets the worm. They would share the stories in class on Monday. Monday morning saw the class ready to begin and the teacher asked if anyone had any stories to share that had a moral to it. Little Johnny jumps to his feet waving both of his hands wildly. Little Johnny didn’t have a good reputation for sharing stories that were appropriate for a 5-grade class. So, the teacher tried her best to ignore Johnny. Little Mary put her hand up and the teacher called on her. She told a story of being sent out to collect eggs in the chicken coop. She brought with her a single basket. After collecting all the eggs available, she headed back to the show her mother how well she did. But she tripped on the way in, falling on the basket and breaking all the eggs. The teacher asked what the moral of the story was. Mary said, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. This is a very good example, thanks you for sharing Mary. Anyone else have a story? Little Johnny again is going wild trying to get the teachers attention. The teacher tries to ignore him, but no one else raises their hand to volunteer a story. So the teacher has to relent and asked little Johnny what was his story. Johnny starts off that his Aunt Sue is a military fighter jet pilot. Little Johnny’s dad told him about one of Aunt Sue’s missions during recent conflicts. When Aunt Sue flew missions she always carried with her an automatic rifle with lots of ammo, a large knife and a bottle of whisky. She like to drink the whisky flying back after the mission to celebrate. On this particular mission Aunt Sue’s jet was hit by an enemy missile. She had to eject from the fighter. Coming down with her parachute she worried about her bottle of whisky. What if it breaks when she lands. So, she drank the whole bottle. As she got closer to the ground, she sees 50 enemy soldiers with their rifles pointed at her. So, she begins shooting the soldiers with her rifle. She kills 40 of them before she ran out of ammo. Landing on the ground Aunt Sue pulled out her knife and killed the remaining 10 enemy soldiers. The teacher was aghast. What possible life moral could you possibly have from this terrible story? Little Johnny smiled and said, don’t screw with Aunt Sue if she’s been drinking. The teacher passed out

Academy 1/72 F-8P(FN) Crusader - "French Navy Special"
PattheCat replied to PattheCat's topic in Crusaders and Corsairs STGB
Hi, not really an update but more of a word of warning for those who (shall) build the same kit. Please don't panic, it's minor, see below. @Enzo the Magnificent @Corsairfoxfouruncle @Rayf @Tegethoff I prepped all the parts and drilled out the fuselage at the preset locations prior to some test fit. FIRST: DO NOT drill out the rearmost location on each side of the exhaust shroud. The right position should be at least 1.5 mm above the preset hole. Black dot = wrong place (now waiting for the filler to set and hope to preserve the delicate riveting on the outside as much as possible ) SECOND: fit of the wing halves. The wing is made out of a full span upper part but the underside is a center piece delimited at the wing fold junction. I had to force the underside in and then it was slightly askew an sitting higher than the folding part of the left wing. It was rather difficult to get the halves apart. I sanded the inside surface of both parts to get these flush and cut 0.5mm off the left folding mechanism "hinge". A bit of scraping/sanding along the joint was also necessary to have a bit of wiggle room to get the hinge and trailing edge aligned. Where I cut off = black dot Happy modelling. Pat. -

That's a good start. An especially colourful markings' choice. -
Academy 1/72 F-8P(FN) Crusader - "French Navy Special"
PattheCat replied to PattheCat's topic in Crusaders and Corsairs STGB
Thanks for the tip @Vultures1. I found your build's pic in above said topic. Very nice blue Crouze. Gunze H042 is my first choice indeed. Sadly, I'm not good enough with the airbrush to apply different shades and colours like you do. -
Academy 1/72 F-8P(FN) Crusader - "French Navy Special"
PattheCat replied to PattheCat's topic in Crusaders and Corsairs STGB
Hello Tim @theplasticsurgeon Judging only from your pictures - I'd say the Xtracolor Mirage blue is too dark. But I saw a former build of a Crusader where it was used and it looked quite right. Underexposed pic maybe? - IMHO Humbrol 157 fits the bill far better There is a topic about French Crusaders blue French F-8P Crusader best color match Personally I'll compare blue-greys/grey-blues and have a look at different Vallejo Model Air bottles I never used (b.o. PRU blue 71109). Maybe a mix of Gunze H042 and H056 (or Tamiya XF18). H042 is my basic choice, though. -

A nice and daring start Tim. No surgery for mine, no sir. -
Happy to see all those resin parts do fit in without fuss. That's a real nice piece of work on the wing folding mechanism. I was 😓 when looking at your progress with it, still you used the word "easy" more than once .... so I stopped and now .

Academy 1/72 F-8P(FN) Crusader - "French Navy Special"
PattheCat replied to PattheCat's topic in Crusaders and Corsairs STGB
Thanks. I especially like schemes showing invasion stripes but a shark's mouth looks like it really is "the" adornment tailored on purpose for a Crusader's front end. Thanks Craig @modelling minion. The instructions call for FS 35164 (Gunze C366) or a mix of medium blue en EDSG. Most French forums say Gunze H042. To my eye, it looks more like a darker PRU blue when new and the pre-war US Navy grey-blue when faded. Problem is I'm somewhat colour blind 🙃. Thanks Dennis @Corsairfoxfouruncle. It seems like we have the same inclinations. I'll be glad to see your builds (Crusader and A-7) and interpretation of the French blue if you go for that one. -
Hello, here we go as the title says it will be a French Navy F-8P from Flotille (squadron) 12F sporting one of the special schemes included in this boxing. It will be either - one applied in 1994 for the celebration of D-Day's 50th anniversary - one used in 1999 during the squadron's last cruise on the aircraft carrier Foch. Both these schemes are in "French Mirage" blue-grey. The "Crouze" as it was nicknamed by its crews served for 35 years - from 1964 until 1999 - in the French Navy which was it's last user. The F-8P(FN) was a refurbished and slightly renovated version of the F-8E(FN). The F-8E (FN) was different from the US "E" as it was from the start modified for use on French aircraft carriers. "In short" the refurbishing was a stopgap measure to stretch it's service life awaiting the introduction of the Dassault Rafale. For more info you may refer to this page: http://www.ffaa.net/aircraft/crusader/crusader.htm Here are the inevitable boxart and sprue pics three sprues only, nicely engraved surface and overall detail clear transparencies and a decal sheet printed by Cartograf I hope everybody will have pleasant builds, either with a Crouze or a Sluf. Cheers. Pat

There were three people approaching the gates of heaven, but there was only one place left. The gatekeeper asked the first man what happened to him because the one with the worst death would go in. The first man said: "Well, imagine this. I expected my wife was having an affair, so I got home early to surprise her. I found her in the bathroom with a towel around her so I knew she wasn't having a shower I searched the apartment and found 10 fingers hanging from the window sill. So I started bashing away at them. When he fell, God must have loved him, because he lived. So I threw a refrigerator at him. After all the excitement I died of a heart attack." That's horrific said the gatekeeper, he asked the second man how he died and he said. "Well, imagine this. I was riding one of those stationary bikes on the top of our apartment building but it went wrong I fell down and grabbed someone's window sill. Then some idiot started bashing at my fingers then I fell, but God must have loved me because I lived. Then -SHANNOOOWWWW- a refrigerator plunged down at me" That is too horrific. He asked the third man how he died and he said. "Well imagine that. I was naked in a refrigerator..."

If Airfix made jokes, it would be one of their best "Vintage classics".

A short but not that "clean" one: A family went to a nudist camp for their vacation. The young son came back to the tent and said, "Wow, Mom! You should see some of those girls. They've got these HUGE..." "Yes, well," his mother sniffs. "The larger they are, the dumber the woman." Next day the boy comes back to the tent again. "You wouldn't believe some of the guys out there. They have these HUGE..." "Yes, well, like I said, the bigger they are, the dumber the man." "Really?" the boy said, frowning with puzzlement. "We might be in trouble, Mom." "Why, honey?" "Because Dad's out there talking to a really stupid girl, and he's getting dumber by the minute."

AdrianMF's 1/72 H2K (ex-Hasegawa) Draken - Finished
PattheCat replied to AdrianMF's topic in Saab Draken STGB
So was it enough to quench your usual thirst to fill and sand? Just kidding, mate I remember some work was also needed to settle the exhaust shroud parts (been very long ago so not sure if it was the kit or me). Nice pit and blending in of the intakes. It's a nice looking Draken. -
Most of the time more ads than content I'm really interested in. So no more paper magazines on a regular basis for me and just one online subscription (Scale modelling now). Even if I understand advertising is a vital necessity, I now prefer to get a book from time to time going over a specific subject (including useful info for a build like walkaround pics or builds of different kits of the same aircraft). For example, I've put "Fouga Magister" from MMP on my birthday's wishlist (I said get not buy)

Your undercarriage looks waaayyy better than the original one. Nice rigging too. Well done .

Tim's Aeronavale Heller Crusader - COMPLETED
PattheCat replied to theplasticsurgeon's topic in Crusaders and Corsairs STGB
Going for a blue-grey French one too (Same squadron, Academy kit and included decals). Just a bit different from yours as there are additional markings, special scheme - either with a sharkmouth or invasion stripes. Nice to see one more "Aéronavale Crouze" here. Wishing you fun with your build Tim @theplasticsurgeon -
1/48 - Mitsubishi A6M2b Type 21 "Zero" by Academy - released
PattheCat replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
Pre-orders pricing in EU hovers between 22 and 28 euro. It looks well detailed (from reviews; instructions available at Scalemates) and taking into account the included pre-cut masks, this kit seems like a realistic competitor for Eduard weekend editions. I'll take one.
