  1. Thanks Cliff @CliffB. I certainly do hope so.
  2. Thanks Adrian @AdrianMF. I used Tam extra thin. I think you're right about the cause as it's not the first time I run into such a problem when using old glue. I just took the clamps off and everything looks OK. Edit: a bit of light sanding done, now just some surfacer along the seam so it gets real tidy and on we go with priming.
  3. Many thanks Dave @Dave Slowbuild. Up until now I'd rate this kit as highly recommended for anyone, even if not specifically interested in high/parasol-winged planes or (much) less known pre-WWII subjects.
  4. Hi everybody, Sorry for the delays but it seems bad luck keeps pursuing me as the linking beam between the gear legs broke repeatedly until I had to scratch build one. Also it's the fifth time I partially reglue the fuselage (not a single kit finished over one year). Slightly reinstating the ribbing along the joint each time is time consuming 💦 (for someone with my skills). But let's stop to and . No surrender, no retreat this time! State of things at the moment (new jar of glue, we'll see): And that's how it looked this morning before the last reglueing, proof that this has nothing to do with the kit but probably with the use of my last drops of extra thin. Everything falls together really well, like the tailplanes struts that even have attachment pins (just seconds to place these, better than some mainstream kits). Only places were filler was needed: Some wire and modified hinges from a landing gear, not precisely the original size or shape but convincing enough IMHO: Still enjoying the build. Waiting until tomorrow for seam cleaning and then on with primer and paint. Have a nice Late Spring Bank Holiday or Whit Monday. Cheers. Pat.
  5. Everything done to your usual high standard. Keen to see it finished and in the gallery.
  6. Thanks Craig @modelling minion. But is revealing that THE perfect shake-and-bake kit ended as a test mule any good for one's reputation? 😳 😳 Never mind, maybe it will earn me a place in the Guinness World Records Book ..... Edit: my apologies for polluting your build thread @Retired Bob
  7. Hello @Retired Bob, I've got this from a ditched 1/48 Tamiya Mustang (8mm external diameter, internal just under 7mm): Could it help?
  8. When you build something, you visibly do much more than scratch the surface of things. Have a nice time off.
  9. A crusty old Sergeant Major found himself at a gala event, hosted by a local liberal arts college. There was no shortage of extremely young, idealistic ladies in attendance, one of whom approached the Sergeant Major for conversation. She said, "Excuse me, Sergeant Major, but you seem to be a very serious man. Is something bothering you?" "Negative, ma'am," the Sergeant Major said, "Just serious by nature." The young lady looked at his awards and decorations and said, "It looks like you have seen a lot of action." The Sergeant Major's short reply was, "Yes, ma'am, a lot of action." The young lady, tiring of trying to start up a conversation, said, "You know, you should lighten up a little. Relax and enjoy yourself." The Sergeant Major just stared at her in his serious manner. Finally the young lady said, "You know, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but when is the last time you had sex?" The Sergeant Major looked at her and replied, "1955." She said, "Well, there you are. You really need to chill out and quit taking everything so seriously! I mean, no sex since 1955! Isn't that a little extreme?" The Sergeant Major, glancing at his watch, said in his matter-of-fact voice, "You think so? It's only 2130 now."
  10. It's looking good. We'll soon get to see a fine motorbiking pair!
  11. When a group of tourists visited a crocodile farm, the owner of the place launched a daring proposal; -Whoever dares to jump, swim to shore and survive, I will give 1 million dollars. Nobody dared to move, suddenly a man jumped into the water and desperately swam towards the shore while he was chased by all the crocodiles. With great luck he arrived, taking the admiration of everyone in the place, then the owner announced; -We have a brave winner. After collecting their reward, the couple returned to the hotel, upon arrival, the manager told him; he was very brave to jump, then the man said; -I didn't jump, someone pushed me! His wife smiled ... Moral: "Behind every successful man, there is a woman who pushes him."
  12. I can't but sympathize. My very own chidhood's nightmares: Frog's Harrier and Javelin 😱 I think it cost me more for putty than for the kits . Never again.
  13. How I'd like to build a figure but the skin tones, nayh. Looking good so far. Pink primer? Mmh, don't we know someone who'd be delighted by such? PS nicely casted boobs boots.
  14. You couldn't tell it's 1/72 from the pics of the finished model. Today's kits are certainly well detailed but you also have to have the skills. Nicely done.
  15. Two Crocodiles were sitting at the side of the swamp near the lake. The smaller one turned to the bigger one and said, "I can’t understand how you can be so much bigger than me. We’re the same age; We were the same size as kids. I just don’t get it." "Well, " said the big Croc, "What have you been eating?" "Politicians, same as you, " replied the small Croc. "Hmm. Well, where do you catch them?" "Down the other side of the swamp near the parking lot by the Capitol." "Same here. Hmm. How do you catch the m?" "Well, I crawl up under one of their Lexus cars and wait for one to unlock the car door. Then I jump out, grab them by the leg, shake the poo-poo out of them and eat ’em!" "Ah!" says the big Crocodile, "I think I see your problem. You’re not getting any real nourishment. See, by the time you finish shaking the poo-poo out of a Politician, there’s nothing left but an poopchute and a briefcase.
  16. The PE addition (nice job with the crane), refined or scratched plastic parts and drilled out portholes will definitely make your built kit looks more striking than the original. Better to concentrate on such improvements than on perfect accuracy (which, if attainable, essentialy depends on each's modeller perspective, objectives and skill and isn't always the best possible way of achieving a nice result IMHO)
  17. Hello fellow NMCZers, The cockpit received an airbrushed coat of W&N Galeria flat varnish before the fuselage was closed. I had already used their satin varnish before but It was my first time with their flat one. It keeps impressing me as you just have to thin it with 20 % (deionised) water, set the pressure between 15 and 18 psi and it sprays on like a dream without even the slightest hint of drying on the needle tip (I can't remember who I must thank for his advice in the forums here). Fit of the fuselage halves is real good. Some dissolved putty along the fuselage seam, just to be sure. The wing halves did also fit nicely. But as you'll remember I broke the lower wing half when sanding the leading and trailing edges. What happened is I didn't dare go on with sanding thus after glueing I saw a small gap arlong most of the leading and trailing edges. Clearly a self-induced fault resulting from mating surfaces not sanded flat/level enough. Take care and be well. Pat.
  18. After a day of grueling maneuvers under the blazing Texas sun, the platoon stood in front of the barracks. "All right, ladies, think about this," bellowed the drill instructor. "If you could have ten minutes alone, right now, with anyone in the world, who would it be?" Amid much mumbling, one voice was heard from the back row. "My recruiter."
  19. Hi, A micro update today as I painted the instrument panels and glued the seatbelts yesterday evening. Fixing PE seatbelts with CA makes me really uncomfortable, it's like trying to hold Mexican jumping beans in place. Thus the seats paint shall need some tidying up. Then a small mishap I should have foreseen. A part fell as I was painting it with Gunze Aqueous and levelling thinner, so I cleaned it with a cotton bud soaked in the same thinner. It became crumbly and broke. Problem solved but I had to wait for the part to "sweat out" any thinner residue before glueing it back together. More to come after the weekend. Overcast and a tad rainy today. I wish you a sunnier weather than over here. Pat.
  20. This airbrake and its compartment are awesome pieces of surgery and scratchbuilding.
  21. Nicely done modifications. You've a keen eye for details.
  22. Anyone remembering Cock Robin?
  23. Very subtle painting on your F-8. Getting a thin coat of white on is something I always struggle with. The Widcat is looking super nice too. Don't know about Eduard's 1/48 Hellcat but their 1/72 one was a joy to build with extremely good fit. Thanks for the update. PS may we take bets at on how long "plenty of room to stash" shall hold? 😉
  24. Officer: "Soldier, do you have change for a dollar?" Soldier: "Sure, buddy." Officer: "That's no way to address an officer! Now, let's try it again!" Officer: "Soldier. Do you have change for a dollar?" Soldier: "No, SIR!"
