Hasegawa Tornado IDS `Marineflieger´
PattheCat replied to stevehnz's topic in NATO 75th Anniversary GB
Thanks for the link to the review Steve @stevehnz. I also took a look at the info on Scalemates. The Hasegawa seems to be an easier build but it's nearly twice the price of the Revell over here so I'll still go for the Revell. Have a nice sunday. Pat. -
Hasegawa Tornado IDS `Marineflieger´
PattheCat replied to stevehnz's topic in NATO 75th Anniversary GB
Hi Steve @stevehnz. Nice choice. The contrasted colour scheme of the Marine Tornados is appealing (but I must confess I still prefer it in Granby's livery with nose art 😁). I still don't have a Tornado in the stash. I contemplate to get the Revell kit as I think it's been said to be rather accurate and detailed. I didn't consider Hasegawa. Any particular thoughts about the Hase kit? Thanks. Pat. -
I already found some reference material about that weird colour that has funny effects

Here are my birthday presents from my wife. The book about the Starfighter, I audibly wished for it but when offering the kit she said "You should try to build something else than airplanes". What woman wants, God wants😁and she made a really nice choice, didn't she? So I hope to have a start at it ASAP but will need advice aplenty as I never ever built a car. I'll do my best to be not too much of a nuisance to my fellow BMers 😇. A nice weekend to all of you. Pat.

I missed that one Craig @modelling minion. Happy to find such a nice Zipper. These Japanese special schemes for the 104 are irresistible. Very well done.

You did great. She's gorgeous. I definitely love it. -
Once upon a time there was a toasted Tim And now there is a smoked salmon Simon.😁😇🤣

Nope. But there is a prank I would particularly resent, a fake announcement of a large scale Lockheed Constellation 😁

No joke* but worth mentioning. About fifteen years ago I discussed with an Air Force F-16 pilot (wing commander, if I remember well) about the F-35 development problems. He told me it would be ironed out over time, without a doubt. Also, after more than 25 years of use, the F-16 still had some occasional quirks, mainly communications and electrical systems. It didn't in the least bother him to fly it because of redundancy insuring high safety margins and thus worrying situations were exceptional (the worst he had seen was the electrical feed of the control surfaces failing so the pilot had to rely on the emergency batteries to bring the plane back) . On the opposite he said he would never ever set foot on an Airbus A380. Because it had only two out of four engines with reverse and half the wheels equipped with brakes. Ever since, my wife wonders why I somewhat nervously stay at the windows near our departure gate till our plane comes in. No A380 or 737 MAX please. *I swear it's a true story

Having heard about womens' rights being violated in Iran, the blondes' association "Don't Underestimate My Blondness" (D.U.M.B. in short) decides to send a delegation to give them some support. The next day they're already back home and the delegation's head is invited for an interview on TV. Speaker: " You left very quickly. Is the situation for women over there as bad as I assume?" Blonde: "We didn't go further than the airport but we couldn't believe our eyes. It's afwul, so many deaths" Speaker: "Deaths? You mean you saw women killed in front of you at the airport?" Blonde: "Oh no, certainly not, There must be a terrible plague or something" Speaker: "A plague?" Blonde: "Well, yes. The men immediately pushed us back into the plane yelling "No, no, you not come, here Burka, here Burka" and all the women we saw were mourning" Speaker: "Mourning?" Blonde: "Sure, they all were clad in black from head to toe".

Thanks Simon @Spookytooth. Noted on my paint chart for future use as I like it more than my Gunze H333. -

Been some time since I last paid a visit, sorry. Looking - more than - good. A neat paint job it is. Which paint did you use for EDSG? -

You have everything rolling nicely Simon. Can't wait to see all these well treated parts coming together. PS I invested in a Dspiae Circular cutter (not the MT-C but the entry level model MT-EC) and never regretted it. It seems like they now even have a cheaper model on offer, the PT-C. -

In the Belgian army Medical Service we were called "the pills". We found it tough to swallow 😬🤣 -
EDSG over Sky type S is one of my preferred two-tone schemes. Fine work with "la ligne de demarcation" between colours. And no paint lifting after such extensive masking, a real good job here.. Your exotic Lego dio is charming. PS my reseller put my kit aside, waiting for my new airbrush to send it all together (Yup, a third one. New model of the H&S Ultra at a preorder price of 86€, I couldn't resist).

What qualifies as an ugly duckling for the majority just tells it's worth of special interest to genuinely curious (😇) others. Always take a look under the hood before discarding it.

Thanks @Rabbit Leader. I'll stick with getting more 1/48 Airfix kits then. It's my preferred scale after all (I think I'll also try an Eduard one ... one of these days).
-
B-24 in the queue but very near the end of it. Never interested in that scale so never built a 1/24 kit and don't know if a P-51D was ever released in that scale before, Can someone tell if it's a new tooling?

Hi @AdrianMF. About the same feeling as you but still, added to my .xls list in 3d rank, meaning "sometime but not soon". -
Just to say that, even if not personally interested, I'm really happy with this Airfix announcement for interwar subjects' or biplanes' enthusiasts. And for me, maybe a hint that I still may reasonably expect a 1/48 Gladiator in the future.

No subtitles on YT but the 1/48 version of the SIAI-Marchetti SF.260 seems finally in approach . I'd have liked to see more about the FFrom Battle but another boxing of the 1/48 Super Mystere = very nice. Also, confirmation of continuing work on expanding the Mirage III family = great. It more than somewhat lifts my spirits after Airfix 2024 catalog boosted my adrenaline levels when I saw Hampden but it all deflated upon realizing it was a "vintage kit" reedition. Thanks for the info @Homebee and for the video link @drake122. -
A very nice build @Ratch. Don't underestimate your skills. When the time comes I hope I'll do as well. It has not reached my fav reseller's store yet but will definitely be my first firm purchase of 2024. Thanks for the link and the info. . I'll build it with extended wings though as I find the "unattractive" Gannet's silhouette so ... attractive.
