  1. Have now clear coated the model, and am giving it 24 hours to dry, fingers crossed it will all go fine, it is my first time clear coating. Have also managed to make up the front and rear windscreens with the roof and got them sprayed up aswell. So i will update this at the weekend with some pictures hopefully. Hoping the clear coat settles as it looks a little blotchy while its on there wet. Keeping it in a tin in the hope to stop any dust or particles getting on it whilst drying.
  2. Definately the black, wasn't sure at first but the back end and roof look great with those vibrant colours.
  3. Very nice build, especially love the view under the bonnet. Congrats
  4. That looks lovely, have always loved the gulf racing colors. It's definitely a scheme I would love to do a model in. As for the Windows, I came across a YouTube vid of masking them yourself with a few options, And I have to say I tried masking my own this way this evening and have had great results Good luck with the rest of this build
  5. i love the detailing style of the front bumper and rear hand rails.
  6. Thats a lovely final result, read through the build log the other day. Good job on getting those hinges all sorted.
  7. Thanks for stopping in, most of last nights painting had dried fine, which meant it was time to get busy with some glue, as you say, nearly finished. Only parts not fitted are the; dash (awaiting decals) Steering column and wheel (awaiting dash) Windows and roof (awaiting paint and....you guessed it, DASH) Any how, here's a little teaser pic, i envisage one more post in this thread, which will be a close up of the dash possibly. So keep your eyes peeled for the RFI post. (I will also put a link to the RFI in post 1 of this thread, should anyone visiting it later wish to view it. Cheers for stopping by Terry
  8. Have managed to progress things a bit further.... The wheels Underside From the front And a shot down the side Cheers for looking in. Should get it finished in the week, should the Pledge multi surface wax i ordered appear in the post, Terry
  9. A Quick update before i call it a night.... I have introduced some glue to the mix.... Result.... Pleasing Thanks for stopping by Terry
  10. OK, Another Update as promised. Have managed to get the majority of parts painted up. Frst up the main ones that i snapped with the camera... The interior is now painted up along with the seats.. Also painted up the Body and Engine Bay... not historically correct colours, but i'm bringing the car along into to a new era. i also hope that it will offset the mix of colours well and be a pleasing to the eye finish by the end of it. I have also painted up the tires and based the wheels, still need to pick out the spokes. Have coated the steering wheel outer, in a light woody color, will finish it with a metal spoking. Also Gave the battery a coating of black. Coming along nice i think. As always, Questions, Comments & Criticism welcome. Cheers for stopping in.... Terry
  11. Thanks Roy, this is probably what i would do............if i had a printer in the house Note to self: Get printer
  12. I was looking fpr previous builds and came accross your thread actually, it came out the ultra sonic a bit too shaken But i am pleased to have someone along for the ride at least So here's a little update, as i said, i am trying out airbrushing for the first time on this build and the results are instantly better than brush painting. The front seats have still got to have some white piping detailed but a start at least Same detail for the rear seats and door cards, with all the extra door card details to pick out later by brush. The interior has been started on with the first bit down for the carpetting, still need to depict pedals and foot mats, gear stick, handbrake.... And have got some color on the dashboard also, which is being done in a mahogany color, details to depict, and i may have a look for some 1:32 generic dashboard decals online to finish it properly. Thats all for now, time for some food, Hope to update this later as SWMBO is out baby sitting for the evening, so able to spend some good time in the Man-Cave Questions, comments & criticisms welcome as always. Terry
  13. Having ordered this kit for the up coming starter kit GB, I was sent two, so figured I would do one early to see what could be achieved when not limited to an OOB build. So as a start I have made and painted the engine and a couple of other bits. I will update as we go, also plan to use this kit to get acquainted with airbrushing, so it could all still go horribly wrong. Stay tuned Terry
  14. Hello Kallisti, glad to have you along. I read through that build a few days ago oddly enough, a great outcome.
  15. OK, to keep people up to date, I was going to be brush painting this, but having spent some time on the PC perusing the forum and the rest of the net, i have invested some pennies into an airbrush and compressor. (don't tell the wife ) Have bought: FoxHunter KMS Airbrush Harder & Steenbeck Ultra Airbrush and some Vallejo Model Air Basic Colors Acrylic Paint I am thinking of getting a 1:72 plane as a practice subject first though. Thoughts??
  16. Phildagreek - these comments are very true, although ihave not had a forray into mud and cam nets on models yet but theres always a first for everything. Roger, i certainly will be building it my way, i would like to think whatever is mashed together as an end result will be at least twice as good as separate parts in a box on the shelf James, glad to have you along for the ride, this is my second resin kit, my last one was 7 years ago, (this kit) as a presentation piece. in regards to your question, i believe the way the many do it is with a razor saw, however, i am not in posession of one, so my way was to score round it a few times on each side and then...... (whispered tone: "pull them away from the moulding strip and then sand them down")....queue the responses So i have had a few hours on the build today and am glad to report some progress. First up - the final drives are now off the mould and assembled, along with the rear idlers and swing arms. Also repaired one of the locking brackets on the earth anchor that had broken off. spent a fair amount of time scratch building the stowage bracket for the WRE (Winch Rope End) that should be on the anchor but isn't, then as i was going to glue it in place, it flew out of the tweezers and into the open mouth of the resident carpet monster, so i gave up on that part today. Also managed to glue my fingers together with the Zap CA After a few incidents with glue, (i really should be supervised better) i managed to get the pioneer tools, FFE, portable fire extinguishers, smoke dischargers, light clusters, vice and winch rope rollers mounted. I have drilled out the winch rollers and all the other DefStan towing eyes and shipping brackets. Had to add a bit of solder to the drivers hatch damper as the resin part wasnt long enough, so removed and drilled the short piece and replaced with solder and trimmed. As some may have noticed, i have moved the front roller from the original position on the front right to the centre, as this was how it was changed to, after the addition of two extra front bins and the later move of the headlights from under the front lip to on top of it, which is how i will be doing this build, also with the protective shrouds over the lights. reference pics below Earlier lights: later lights and bins: Thanks for tuning in, and until next time, all the best Terry Comments, Criticism and advice welcome.
  17. Dan, just spent my morning reading through your build thread. Some helpful hints in there and a few ideas too. However, your build quality is fantastic and concerns me I won't do this kit the justice it deserves. Suppose I need to plug on with it as I have started a WIP though.
  18. So, here's the first update. An evening spent removing some of the parts from the resin moulding All of the road wheel assemblies to remove But eventually wrestled them all free and cleaned them up, along with a couple of other pieces. Also made the two SWR for towing and recovery that don't come with the kit (these can be seen each side of the earth anchor) Still need to find 2 x 7t bow shackles in 1:35th scale for them though A few more bits still on moulds and some terylene tow ropes to make too. Thats all for now. Terry
  19. Indeed it is, i hope it doesn't finish that colour
  20. So this will be my first WIP thread, so go easy on me. I am not aiming for a fast build but i hope to have a couple of updates a week. As the title suggests, its the British recovery variant of the CVR-(T). It is accurate armours full resin kit with some PE aswell. It was purchased a few years back, when i made it for a colleague, as a presentation piece, and this is the second of the two kits that were bought. So without further waffle.... The boxed kit The Unboxed kit Now some of the bags open As can be seen in the background, a start was made on the Upper and lower hull parts...which needed a fair bit of work. Thats it for now, stay tuned for further developments as and when i get the chance. Terry
  21. Just found this thread, so i went online and bought this ..... Airfix Triumph TR4A Starter Set 1:32 Car Model Kit (A50092) So i guess count me in please
