  1. The pen can be covered with a JDM style vinyl . and I thought black to go with the window trims. Probably do the sills black as well
  2. Ok, so whilst the next Comp build is on hold for dating I took some time out to polish the Subaru. I knocked polished a couple of the door handles a bit much, so will need to figure a way to sort that out, but in natural light and polished it doesn't look too bad. I even bought some IPA in preparation to soak the shell and start again. (Still might....maybe redo it tango orange with black roof and accents) The two spots on the rear right quarter are marker pen that never covered at all. The more I look at it, the more I want to strip it. Thought I would keep you posted on this one. The competition piece will find its way into the RFI section when the comp is finished. Incidentally the taxi I did took first place in the last comp. Coops
  3. Estimated shipping date - 29th June 2020 2 versions available Option 1 Option 2
  4. Does she read this forum? There are members who need to see progress. It’s for the greater good! merely a reminder of a time that I’m sure many of us went through, drifting away from modelling as life gets in the way. Many of us have since returned. i have to say that more people are video calling friends and family more than they normally would, which is great as many us don’t take the time when life is too busy. looking forward to some more progress along with the rest of the baying, frothy mouthed crowd. maybe this weekend 🤣
  5. Household bleach will strip chrome too
  6. Best of luck, what a nice fellow to return it rather than send it on to its demise.
  7. I currently have 3 WIPs, with another build to start today. But.....1 is on hold until post lockdown, 1 is nearly finished 1 is looking like it won’t take much longer and the one that’s starting today has a 1 month deadline. So the bluebird could find its way to the bench around June
  8. I used Vallejo Mecha Black primer, with Mr Colour Gold and Mr Clear Orange. The Lacquer was the usual Halfords own that was fine when i used it over the same combo with clear red on the taxi. I'm hoping a polish wil help tidy it a bit. Its not unbearably awful just not what i had in my head
  9. So an update, The body shell was all going well, unitl i put the clear coat on, it seems to have reacted oddly to the clear orange over gold that i was going for. I will let it harden off and polish it up any how, and mark it up to a lesson learned, to spoon test all paint combinations ona spoon before the car shell. The interior is finished and the underside providing a rolling chassis. Still need to do the odd few details and windows before the final build, no major rush as the body shell still needs a couple of weeks to harden off. Cheers for looking, Coops
  10. @JeroenS I happen to like the wagon look myself, too many people think about the WRC Imprezas. This is not that. I may even get a roof box for it. I may drop it a little, I considered going widebody but the rims I wanted to use were too wide, it looked ridiculous. May have other rims in the spares box, I’ll have a dig about. @Spiny 🤣. This is not going to be blue, for 2 reasons, everyone seems to do Imprezas solely in blue and I am not following the crowd, secondly, I have too many other blue models currently on the shelf. (Black primer) dodgy lighting @Schwarz-Brot I’ll do my best for quirky, I had even considered hydro dipping this one......and still might No progress tonight, I walked the dog in search of a good sunset photo, managed a couple of OK ones, not great but just a bit meh. Coops
  11. So, seeing as the lockdown and social isolation continues, i thought i would grab another box down off the shelf to occupy my evenings. As the titla and tags suggest it is the Subaru Impreza Sports Wagon WRX in 1/24 from Hasegawa. A nice little curbside kit that should go together well. The mouldings lok crisp with minimal cleanup looking to be required. There are a few parts in the box not required as it looks like some Impreza sprues with the Wagon stuff added on top, so the kit bash spares box continues to grow. Included are some window masks for the clear parts which is a welcome touch. This should be another fairly quick build i hope sue to the time avaialble, but i'm still undecided on colours. Any suggestions are welcomed of course. The carpet is likely to be getting flocked in a charcoal/anthracite, but the rest is currently up for the vote. Maybe even some homemade decals are an option (Possibly) Here is the box art and the first load of parts enjoying a coat of primer. Thanks for looking, Coops
  12. I can confirm there is nothing simple about it 🤣 Best if luck
  13. All sorted and I see a collection of photos added since my last visit, nice 👍🏼
  14. These are my three favourite shots from my tour in 2010/2011. These are from Jan 2011. Hope you enjoy them. Coops
  15. @Spiny the image isn’t showing for me, make sure the photo is in a shared album and then try again, I have dramas when the albums aren’t shared. @Kitkent nicely finished, I love the shape and liveries of these cars, I did the map of France one. If I do another it would be In the Nordschleife livery.
  16. Great build of a "car park killer", I recall a time when you could hear cars coming, now I really do have to look both ways. I like the taxi livery, really smart. Well done
  17. Well done on a great build. Your WIP will serve as a great little guide when I get round to this one in the stash. Excellent finish and great shots. Coops
  18. Thank you for the kind comments, being the first chop I've done and being limited to only uses the bits in the box meant it's not the neatest finish, but I aim to improve on the next one. I have seen seen pictures of a chopped cab online and liked it so that's my inspiration. I wanted this to stand out, so that's the choice of colour. The next chop top I do I'm thinking Matt Black with green tinted windows. Maybe a 2CV. Coops
  19. Evening all, My build of the London Black Cab has finished and the images submitted for judging. Here it is for the viewing pleasure of my fellow Britmodellers. Feel free to comment as you see fit. Trying to improve my photographs so fingers crossed they're better than previous ones. It was a fast build and learned a lot of good lessons along the way. It was built using only the kit and sprues in the box + a set of VIP Rims. Its the first time i have done a roof chop and certainly something i would like to do again given the right subject. All the photos are available in the Google photos album here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/bLSeaCMKymmCvPMZ9 The WIP is here: Photos are below: I hope you like it, cheers for looking. Coops Coops
  20. Ok, so this is now built, I have the front number plate decal left to apply, here is a sneak preview. Nothing more to come here. Look out for the RFI which I will link in post #1 when it goes live. Cheers for sticking with this quick build, I've learned a few things through the course of these mods which I can improve on for further builds. Coops
  21. I like the end result, some very effective weathering. Welcome to the forum and the car section. Coops
  22. link: Post #3 & Post #5 here I’m using a Tamiya one and it’s fine for my purposes but there may be thinner ones if that’s what your after (see the link above) i believe you can also get very fine PE saws
  23. A great result has been achieved. Some excellent techniques used that will be getting files away for potential future uses. well done Coops
  24. Sounds like you have a fair share of dramas there. I’m sure you will overcome the whole lot of them. The 2009 Dodge “Challenge”r is living up to its name. Coops
