  1. Can I join? I have two B-25 kits that need building.
  2. I was wondering what the best P-51H kit is in terms of: 1. How difficult it is (I want probably something intermediate) 2. Either 1/48 or 1/72 scale 3. Only plastic parts (no resin please) any answer would be wonderful! -Oliver

  6. Ya, I should've put a disclaimer there. I honestly love airfix. 2/3 of my collection are airfix kits, so don't worry, I love Airfix.

  8. I would like to join please! I will be doing either the old airfix kitty hawk and/or the Academy P-51A "North Africa"
  9. Just asking, can it be planes used solely for the british and operated by them for quite a time, like the P-51A?
  10. doh! I forgot this was a PACIFIC WAR Build!
  11. sure I'd like to join. But, can you possibly put carriers for the medditeranean theater? Just asking
  12. Thanks for all the answers! Once I finish my current models I will start that one!
  13. Thanks for the tips, but is this painted an olive drab like some reference photos or something closer to humbrol 29 where it's a dark brown?
  14. Hello, I'm going to buy the Acadmey P-51 "North Africa" version (or is it an A-36?) and I've tried to find reviews or photos of it built and all I've found are official pictures. I was wondering if anyone could send me a review or a discussion about this model, or your experience about building it. Any comment will be fine.
  15. Ya, I just got one yesterday and started building it. I remember one of my first kits was the monogram Wildcat, which featured the folding wing feature, and being so proud when finishing it. I'm building and Airfix P-40B for a competition and Im waiting for a new compressor, so for fun I though I would try the model out, better than I remember the other old monogram kits revell has!
  16. Is there anywhere I can find a motor for 1/48 aircraft? I just want to make one of my model's propeller spin. Any comment would be nice. Thank you!
  17. The Monogram Hellcat was released in 1961 by monogram as one of the "action kits" in their line, which was a collection of WW2 US Naval Aircraft that had many features including folding wings, landing gear that can be raised or lowered, and sometimes bombs that could drop. Back in the day this was a huge success, as not many kits had those type of features before. Revell-Ogram still sells some of these kits, mainly the dauntless, the avenger, and this Hellcat. This kit can still hold up today if it was fitted with more interior detail. That's the main problem with the kit: the cockpit detail. The only thing is the pilot (unfortunately attached to his chair), the backboard, and the control panel. A quick trip to the spares box can fix this, or probably some aftermarket stuff. The other parts are fine, and can look good. The rest of the kit is ok in terms of shape and features, the only problem is that sometimes the gap between the folding wings and the raised panel detail. This kit would not be good for a beginner modeler, as some of the fits are not that ok, but it's great as a break from the "super detailed eduard" kits and a good weekend kit for leisure or just plain nostalgia. With some good fixer uppers this could be a great kit. Revell currently sells this kit, so you can find it at almost any hobby store or craft store. Overall: 7/10
  18. Thanks, but I don't know where to get it or how to build it.
  19. Also I'm signing up for a competition with my p-40 and I was wondering if there is any 1/48 base resembling wheeler field, where this plane was during Pearl Harbor.
  20. I'm currently building the airfix 1/48 P-40B, which is great in most areas, and I'm about to paint it and I am building the George Welch P-40. I have two paints that will be good for this scheme. Vallejo Color US Olive Drab and humbrol 155 matt olive drab. Which would be better for this plane? Leave your answers in the comments.

  22. Maybe leave it at a Salvation Army thrift store and tell me which one, and I'll go buy it, as I don't know who anyone is here and I don't want to meet them in person. (my mom is also looking at compressors too, so let's see what happens)
  23. So while I wait for a compressor, I want to finish a air can from when I used the testors amazing airbrush. I tried to fit it and it didn't fit. Anything I can do to fit it? I'll also look into the harbor freight compressor, if I have the time to go to pasedena (or if they have an online store). If that doesn't happen I just find some of these at an art store or michael's crafts and hobby lobby. yep also I'm 14, probably the youngest guy on the forums!
  24. For Christmas I got the paasche H-series starter airbrush, but no compressor. I've been looking for a good compressor, but one question I have is that can the paasche h-series work with compressors from other brands other than paasche?
