  1. Not seen unfortunately, not willing to pay Disney any extra after watching the travesty that was Rogue One.
  2. Painted the gunners stations with Barley grey with Deck tan for the pads and some black and dark sea grey highlights, seat with IJN dark grey. Should be more than enough once its fitted. All the internal parts for the lower section less the gun position have been fitted so I can move onto the top halve. The clear parts have been dipped in Klear as I'm going to use the decals for the frame rather than mask with tape.
  3. Inevitably SWMBO has also tested positive for Covid last night and is currently trying to slept so no airbrushing can take place on pain of a knitting neddle shoved somewhere, so until I can turn the compressor on I'm stuck on the Viggen/Tempest/Blenheim/YB49 as all need spraying so more work on the Falcon. The mandibles took less than 20 mins and most of that was getting the tiny pipe work into the correct holes. A bit of grebble spotting, appears to be an automatic transmission case at the end And the top of a V12 engine. These clipped into the lower fuselage and started to go round fitting the airlock and side panels. Here are the 2 gunners stations and as usual the instructions have only the vaguest of details on how to paint so I'll be cracking out my old DVD's to see how it should be, not that you'll be able to see it once done.
  4. Resprayed the RB71's with H422 and I think it a much better match to the green the Swedes use. Also changed the RB24 rails from the Airfix one to another set from a Hasegawa AV8B plus kit. Need to wait until my hands are steadier before I can do the post shading work to the underside hopefully tomorrow.
  5. I couldn't wait until I'd finished the Viggen before I started this one, so I cut parts from the sprue last night. I haven't seen one of these on here so here the obligatory sprue shots. Lots of plastic in the box. A tiny Cewbacca Cockpit painted up.
  6. Been laid up in bed with Covid the last few days but felt better today so I could finish of the RB71's, these were sprayed with Tamiya Olive Drab but I think this may be a bit dark so I may respray.
  7. Last thing yesterday i stripped of the masking from the underside and only have 2 areas of over spray behind the leading edges to correct. I quickly masked the radome and sprayed this with Tamiya XF1 matt black so I had a good contrast with the XF69 Nato Black used for the camo pattern. I have the RB24 stand in's (AIM9L's and LAU's from an Airfix GR3 Harier kit) assembled and started to modify the launch rails to suit the Viggen. From most pictures the missiles have a green body with the rear find a light grey and the forward fins a metallic grey. They also seem display the common warning text but not all the coloured bands see on AIM9L's. For the RB71's I have a early AIM9 launch rail taken from a Hasegawa F4E kit that closely resemble the RB71 LAU, I separated these and mounted on cocktail sticks for painting. I will fit the missiles to these before painting as both are the same olive drab green unlike the RB24 rails which are primarily in white.
  8. Agreed but I like the way the Mr Hobby Colour paint sprays and makes the decal process better as well.
  9. Completed the paint repairs on the Viggen last night and also started on the Resi-kit Sparrows, I prefer these to the Eduard ones with etch fins, much easier to assemble. Will unmask the underside later and do some post shading.
  10. Seeing as I have spent some time in Alberta I know what you mean, -45 was the coldest I had the last time I was there.
  11. First thing this morning I stripped off the masking from the Viggen fairly carefully as some of the painters masking tape has been on for nearly a month and I wasn't sure how well it come off but there was no problems. I'm very happy with the way it looks and the line up of the canard camo with the fuselage. There are a few places were I'll have to go back and repair but for the most part its very minor. This mask peeled of the whole tan section.
  12. Finally got the last of the masking done and the fourth and last colour of H422 on today. Only removed this canard so far as I want to leave the paint longer to harden completely, but looks good so far.
  13. Nice effects, fyi the smoke dischargers where often well worn as they were used as a step
  14. A slower year for me last year with only 10 finishes but still a productive year. First was Airfix's lovely Beaufort kit paint in a Malta scheme (I messed up and put the wrong turret cowl in) 2nd was Italeri's new tool F35B in RAF markings, a good kit but you need to be careful with all the internal parts to kit the upper and lower fuselage sections to mate well. Next was Revells 1/241 Millennium Falcon, an £6 special from ebay but still good to try new techniques on. N04 was Meng's F102 Delta Dagger Case XX as a Vietnam based aircraft in SEA colours, my first Meng kit, went together quite well but the canopy was designed to be in the open postion and doesn't fit to well when closed. No's 5, 6 and 7 were all Bandai kits of the X wing, B wing and Darth Vader's Tie Fighter Advanced. The Bandai kits are fantastically designed, they clip together and can be built within 1-2 hours dependent on kit. I painted all parts on mine so didn't use the kit decals or sticker less cockpit ones. X and B- Wing were heavily weathered but Vaders was not. No8 was Revell's recent rebox of the Cyber Hobby Sea Vixen FAW2. This is my first FAA subject and first Cyber Hobby kit which apart from some errors in the instructions was a nice kit to build. This was followed by Revel'sl own tool of the F101 Voodoo from 1991, some interesting engineering in this kit along with the dubious 1990's silver plastic but still got a got finish from it. Made a riveted plate for the inside of the airbrake from a drinks can as Revell had left it bare. Lastly was Dream Models J2 Mighty Dragoon kit, this was purchased as the "Beast mode" kit but the 3d resin print launch rails were so brittle I couldn't cut them from the print trees so had to revert to a normal J20. A nice kit that went together fairly quickly but the colours that Dream Model had the instruction were far to dark compared to the pictures available so I used different ones.
  15. Put the finishing touches to the AT-AT today, as usual with a Bandai kit it built up very well very quickly. Made it quite dark and dirty by pre-shading with black and white before using XF80 as a blend coat. Painted with Tamiya acrylics, weathered with Flory Dark Dirt wash with some oil paint streaks. Made a base as an experiment, RFI below.
  16. Completed the AT-AT and base. Nice to find out how easy the base was to do so will probably to some more with armour. Rocks for the base was made using crumpled tin foil and wall filler and the base was a piece of styrofoam found in the skip at work and most of the work took just 5 days.
  17. Tried the AT-AT for size today and initially I panicked and thought I'd made it to small but after a while I realised it the perfect size, any larger and the model would be undersized and any smaller and it wouldn't have fitted on at all. I just need to finish of the models last few touches but I'm more than happy with the base its self. Once the model is complete I'll post the RFI up
  18. I put another layer off black wash on as I thought it was still to light, one of the thing mentioned on the video about making snow dio's is to make the bases darker than normal. I picked up balsa wood and made edging for the raw sides of the base. Also picked up some Woodland Scenic soft snow and some hairspray. First application of hairspray and snow. Second layer. After 6-7 repeat cycles I need to add some foot prints but otherwise I think its good as it stands.
  19. Pic no4 has the Defender front panels and bonnet on what looks like a series 3 body. Will you be doing a full Defender and Wolf spec? Excellent work btw
  20. Put the Flory wash on this morning before work and started the clean this afternoon. after removing the excess a few Burnt Umber oil paint streaks were applied to the body. After removing the excess the head and neck were and a few Burnt Umber oil paint streaks applied to the body. Hopefully get the legs done tomorrow as I think I can get the base finished off on Monday or Tuesday.
  21. Been to the Range for some cheap paint and started this morning, first up was was some yellow and brown spots for modulation. This was followed by a thin brown wash over the whole piece. This was sealed with thinned down PVA and left to dry before a black wash was applied. Surprising how much the colours change with just one coat of wash. Then a further 2 coats of the same thin black wash resulted in this. Its a pity a lot of this will be covered by snow but it will be worth it.
  22. Blend coat of Tamiya XF80 went on today, not sure if the zenital shading worked but the rest of the parts look good. Next will be a clear coat and some Flory Clay wash.
