This is my first post minus my introduction. Just finished this bird with newly learned techniques. It was my first complex camouflage build. I'm fairly pleased with it, other than one minor seam I didn't get quite filled and a small dab of superglue I accidentally got on the bottom while attaching the gear struts.
It was built OOB with the exception of a Quickboost ejection seat. I used Vallejo Model Air for the main scheme: 71.008 Blue, 71.031 Middlestone, 71.124 Green. These were converted from Gunze using Vallejos conversion chart from their website. Gunze aqueous is not available in the U.S., but I did luck out and find the H26 bright green at Sprue Brothers for the nose and other small spots. I could not find a conversion for that color. So far, Vallejo Model Air is my favorite paint. Goes on smooth, plus I love the eye dropper bottles! Allclad was used for the drop tank and exhaust. The cockpit interior turquoise is a hard color to find. I went with the Ammo Mig interior turquoise. It seems a little too green, but all I could find here in the U.S.
The build was straight forward but very time consuming, especially when it came to the hundreds of stencils. According to the instructions, this aircraft was used for a display in an open house, so I suppose it would be fairly clean. Therefore, I kept weathering to a minimum. I highlighted and did a wash in the gear bays, did some minor bleaching on the main colors, and a panel line wash using the AK Paneliner for sand and desert camouflage.
