  1. I meant not to offend, you obviously have the "bounce " on me as regards the Zvezda kit. We all know the dangers of hyperthetics on this site and others, but I was only trying to suggest that maybe someone else will come to our rescue. Personally, I would love for Airfix to reprise their Sky King series with up to date new kits. Who knows, we may see some nice aftermarket engines come available and thus use the kit of our choice.
  2. Fantastic job. I have seen your previous on the Vickers products and they are second to none. Have you done a Viscount at all? I would love to see what you could do with the Airways Britannia.
  3. Its not mandatory to drop the flaps, but if Zveda do produce a NEO sometime and its the only game in town, why not build it? I hear thet its a good kit.
  4. If you take your time, 26 decals will do the trick every time. As a project l have set myself the task of modeling as many of the Britannia's that came regularly to Manston either visiting or in for maintenance. A big task, but I have been waiting years for a decent 1/144th Britannia. As suggested elsewhere I wish to track the Invicta aircraft in model form. G-AOVF and G-ANCF had lon carriers so makes a good excuse to model BOAC, MONARCH, and British Eagle etc. Happy building and new year to you all.
  5. I guess the "colour schemes " will always be wrong for somebody, but right for others. That's why we have aftermarket decals after all.
  6. Brilliant! Just goes to show what can be done with the only show in town. Thanks to Airfix we don't need to go to such lengths, bur suffice to say we did have a good Victor all along if you wanted to put in the effort, which you certainly have. A great tribute to the "art" of modeling. Well done.
  7. Marvellous! Don't be shy, people like us will lap them up! Thank you for posting.
  8. Great introduction piece, I would be happy with that on my shelf. Any WW1 ?
  9. Lovely build, very inspiring. Check the nose wheels against a photo or two as it has always fascinated me that they had such a pronounced tow in when viewed from the front.
  10. I took the whole thing back to the bogey. If I had noticed before assembly it would have been easier! The retraction sequence on the Brit was a work of art and the reason for the narrower front set was so it slipped nicely into the narrowing undercarriage bay .
  11. Just a heads up for those interested. I am currently building three Britannia's and have realised that the front wheels on the main bogeys should be narrower track compared to the rear one's. Check out a walk round, it should show you what I mean.
  12. So that's where the Iranians got there inspiration from for their P3's! Very interesting article and yet another scheme to add to a very long list for the Cat. Sorry to venture away into what if,s, but would the Catalina and its sub variants be a fantastic subject for Airfix to cover?
  13. Just goes to show the power of a photo! Unless some so and so has photoshoped it !!
  14. My friend Bob has built two lovely examples and the only concern was the undercarriage fixing. But he was full of praise for the the kit and on inspection I have to agree wholeheartedly.
  15. My dad and I had a very similar "airfield " in our loft years ago, even down to the backdrop prints! We kept a lot of the models in boxes underneath, but now and again they would come out. The airfield had to be kept clear you see for the operational Lightnings, Harriers and Phantoms of course! Plus of course the odd visiting Shak or Herc.
  16. Lovely pictures, thank you for sharing.
  17. Who would fork out £100 for a big Typhoon? Many have!
  18. And how much would a tamigawa Victor cost?
  19. Too small a market for the big two.
  20. Great build, really nice. Lovely aircraft, puts me in mind of a Thunderstreak crossed with a Sabre.
  21. Interesting to compare with the UK 's Red Arrows replacement dilemma.
  22. I built the Pegasus MB5 years ago and thought it a great little kit. If considered as a short run kit one should not be too suprised that it wont necessarily fall together. Given the subject I just had to build one and in the end got a nice replica of one of the finest looking piston fighters ever.
