  1. I would like to share with you some of my late fathers photos. He was an aircraft finisher in the RAF from 1946 to 1954 and I think these may be of interest to aviation nuts like myself. This will take a while but should have something of interest for most. 1- Hastings 47 sqdn 2- Halifax 9 October 48. Broken up with two others shortly after this picture was taken. 3-Dakota 4- Viking Kings Flight VL247 5-6 York 7- Dakota Hope you like something here.
  2. The DC10 was on a good will visit which took local holiday and aviation employees for a spin for an hour or so. My dad was lucky enough to be one of them. Freddie Laker was on board with the champagne!
  3. Guilty m,lud, the Air Ferry are a bit earlier around about 68 I would say. The Comet if I remember rightly had a working party up from DanAir after she let herself down by noseing gently onto the runway. I think this is after removal from Invicta ' s hanger and departure for further work. The Islander for "fast" parts delivery was I replaced by Dh Dove for a short while after which a nice new Cessna Titan turned up. The Shacks I think were parked for a while awaiting scrap or the fire school.
  4. A bit more effort next time jasman? Seriously, a fantastic build and very inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
  5. Does not reflect too well on your instructors Selwyn. Did they not assess the surroundings beforehand? Always drummed into me before starting an engine.
  6. Over cooked it at the end! Sorry.
  7. Fantastic peak over the fence Paul. I find the "quality " of photo lends itself to the nostalgic feel of the time,a little like black and white images from many years ago. Keep up the good work. I will try and join in with some myself later if I may. The potential to peek into other people's photo albums is amazing isn't it.
  8. Fantastic build, well done and no mention of rivets from anyone. Could it be that Airfix got it right?
  9. Very clever way to hang a test bed radar. Thats a nice build with bags of character.
  10. Built this years ago and must have taken the most weight that I ever put in a model! What you have so far looks great and I look forward to your progress.
  11. Anyone near Margate wishing to grab a cheap Airfix Harrier from the Hornby shop? Bagged and labeled £2, FIFTY PENCE at the counter! Got one this morning and there may have been a dozen left.
  12. I thought the idea of belly markings was to advertise the airline. I don't think that maple leaf of red on black is going to show up too well at ten thousand feet let alone thirty. I think the rouge scheme is far more representative of a Canadian national carrier.
  13. Really nice Brits there. I am afraid to say that I bottled on the Airways Britannia even though I have built vac forms before. Thank you for sharing.
  14. Do we know anything about the Bf108 in the background?
  15. Good work skyfan, and yes one of the best schemes about. I am a bit worried about thinners in a beer bottle though!
  16. Ivand, did anyone use the old Heller decals? They were rubbish really.
