Aeronavale Lancaster Mk. 7 help needed
Junchan replied to Tony Whittingham's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Post-war Lancaster Colour Schemes section of Avro Lancaster in Military Service 1945-1965 by Martin Derry and Neil Robinson describes as follows; Initially the Lancasters were painted in a factory-applied overall dark royal blue scheme with AĆ©ronavale cocardes applied to all six positions, each narrowly outlined in yellow with a black anchor superimposed. The Flight Manual instructs to set the WING SWEEP MODE switch to BOMB (55 deg. sweep) after landing and then set the EMERGENCY WING SWEEP handle to OV SW (68 deg. sweep) finally move the EMERGENCY WING SWEEP handle full aft to 75 deg. Therefore, normal wing sweep in the parked position is 75 deg, but it can be changed if necessary. Jun in Tokyo https://www.flickr.com/photos/horaburo/albums/72157634239368919

F-4 Phantom tailplane - one unit or left and right assembly?
Junchan replied to Kari Lumppio's topic in Aircraft Cold War
As others mentioned, the tail plane is a one piece assy. This is a diagram from the F4H-1 Structure Manual. Jun in Tokyo https://www.flickr.com/photos/horaburo/albums/72157632118461701 -

LS 1/72 Mitsubishi Ki-15 Kamikaze colour query.
Junchan replied to fightersweep's topic in Classic - up to 1968
Kamikaze was painted silver and blue. The best color reference is the instruction sheet of the Finemolds kit. https://www.scalemates.com/products/img/3/4/0/1162340-23-instructions.pdf Jun in Tokyo https://www.flickr.com/photos/horaburo/50057645552/in/album-72157692034513944/ -
The Mk. I does not have the identification lamps, but the Mk. II has them. The upward identification lamp is mounted at the top of the fuselage just forward of the fin, and the downward lamps is in the underside of the fuselage just forward of the service hatch. No need to add the identification lamps to the Airfix kit which depicts the Mk. I. Jun in Tokyo https://www.flickr.com/photos/horaburo/8372406569/in/album-72157632492710747/

Compared the wings of the B-18 and DC-3 by placing a station diagram of the B-18 and the most reliable DC-3 drawing what I have in the same scale. https://rara.jp/image_view/3d903c17953f29b80d1988aa4f65586a/1005624792 As you see the center sections, Station 0 to 142, are the same except for the root fillet and the outer wings look the same up to Station 338.75 which is a breaking point of the wing tip. So you can use the DC-3 wings with the each wing tip shortened by 11.7 mm. Jun in Tokyo https://www.flickr.com/photos/horaburo/albums

I don't have a Revell Camel kit, but the gap between the upper and lower main planes at the fuselage is 5 ft which means 21 mm in 1/72 scale. The stagger at the center section is 18 in and at the outer struts is 18-5/16 in (6.35 mm and 6.46 mm in 1/72 scale). Measure the dimensions of your model to find if it is OK. I found these photos of a Voisin 8, s/n V1817 taken at the Aviation Experiment Station, Langley Field on 18 June 1917. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Voisin_VIII Some sources says that the serial number of the Smithsonian's Voisin 8 is V1718. If this info is true, the mystery items were not the original equipment, but someone would have added them to V1718 before it was transferred to the Smithsonian in September 1918. The mystery deepens. Jun in Tokyo https://www.flickr.com/photos/horaburo/albums

I made an enquiry directly to the National Air and Space Museum, and got a answer from them but still the mystery has not solved. Here's their reply to my question: "According to the curator of the aircraft, that item on the Voisin has always puzzled us. The Voisin was transferred to the Smithsonian from U.S. War Department in September 1918, even before the war was over, and that item was on the airplane at that time. When restoration was done on the aircraft in 1989 to 1991 we retained it on the airplane, even though we weren't sure what it is. We believe it was legitimately part of the airplane during its service. Hope this information is helpful!" Any further information or opinion will be appreciated. Any anti-icing system on USAAF twin-engined bombers?
Junchan replied to KRK4m's topic in Aircraft WWII
Both the B-25 and B-26 have the De-Icing system as illustrated in the manuals, but the A-20 didn't. https://rara.jp/image_view/2fa79dffb88b86ae02e8836fd5119673/1005596944 https://rara.jp/image_view/0433e840fd02abb485c00d295af04de5/1005596945 Jun in Tokyo https://www.flickr.com/photos/horaburo/albums -

A damage to a skin can be repaired by patching, but in this case a patch means a metal plate, not fabric. Here's an extract from the INSTRUCTIONS FOR REPAIR OF DEFIANT I AND II AIRCRAFT AND DEFIANT T.T. MKS. I AND III AIRCRAFT, describing the process of the fuselage skin repair by patching and an example of the metal patching. https://rara.jp/image_view/dc8680a76955ebf44440622bb9309199/1005586940 https://rara.jp/image_view/fb3e7749d0adf1109e2e69eb8266c42c/1005586941 https://rara.jp/image_view/43ea855c5449a92da8575b50eb3d536b/1005586942 Jun in Tokyo https://www.flickr.com/photos/horaburo/albums
