  1. 1/72 DeHavilland DH. 100 Vampire FB.52 Kit: Special Hobby #SH72281 "In Northern Skies" Paint: Testors Model Master/Tamiya Decals: kit AM: none Scratch: wheel chocks Build Thread: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235054553-172-finnish-vamppi-hรคvlv-13/
  2. Out of the hanger, enroute to the gallery. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ In the few years I've been here (been here for the entire NATO/Warsaw series) this is the first GB I've actually successfully completed. ๐Ÿคฃ
  3. Chocks scratched. Now to let things dry then get some finish pics. Almost there.
  4. Well, if it's any consolation..... I'm looking through your list there, and I have a few of the potential RAAF Mirage replacements in the stash.....with decals left over from my Mirage over Australia set. ๐Ÿ˜†
  5. Glad to be a bad influence. ๐Ÿ™‚
  6. Still got 11 hours left if my math is right for the last minute pushes. ๐Ÿ˜‰ And yeah, I might be one of the ones included in that group. ๐Ÿคฃ
  7. No limits. Just a minimum number needed. 25 minimum for STGBs to get on the roster. 30 minimum for normal GBs to get on the ballot for voting (November I think).
  8. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/forum/653-ch-46-kv-107-stgb/ That one. CH-46/KV-107. I guess it's technically a Sea Knight...I just tend to lump the CH-46/CH-47 together in my whirlybird ignorance due to the design similarities.
  9. Good to know about the decals. Quick glance looks like trying to find another set may take some time. I may do a whiffy w/ one of them. The Viggen was one of the aircraft chosen for evaluation for purchase to be used for dissimilar aircraft training at the USN's Fighter Weapons School. Ultimately they went w/ the F-16 in that comparison.....but only what if?!
  10. Looking to be a stunner. And a bang up job on that camera. That's going to look sooo sweet once you get the facing panel installed. Definitely makes my RF-4 look like the crude hack that it is. ๐Ÿคฃ
  11. With the Chinook STGB and all the whirlybird chatter that was going in here, I keep looking at the Lynx hiding in the stash longingly as by coincidence one of the configurations is in the anti-ship role for the Royal Navy. But sadly I know there is no way I'd be able to get it built in time with how busy my June is going to be. So I need to just focus on getting the RF-4 off the bench and hopefully a bit further on the Vigi...I'll be content w/ that. On the flip side, all the mini-road trips are going to be awesome. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  12. All that is left is a little clean up on the chocks (have to wait for the putty to cure), figure out chock cables, install the main gear wheels & pics. Should be able to see to that in the morning when I get off work (leaving early again ๐Ÿ˜Ž). So if all goes to plan, pics should be arriving in the gallery destination w/ about 6 hours to spare. Then probably go for a hike before tackling some yard work.
  13. The clock is ticking...but the end is near. Got the overcoat sprayed yesterday...though the glosscote ended up being not all that glossy. Whatever. Not going to sweat it for now. Just need to clean up some residue on the canopy, install the wheels, fab up some wheels chocks (she's still a tailstander even w/ weight in the nose), and install the nose gear doors. Suspect it'll only be a couple hours worth of work. May try to get to it after my bike ride after work (of which I'm leaving early ๐Ÿ˜Ž). I'll have more pics when she's ready to roll out of the hanger.
  14. Oh look, the Viggen comes w/ decals from F7 Wing from the '90s. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ Though I will admit it's probably going to be hard not to go w/ an ex-Warsaw aircraft.....
  15. You never improve if you don't push yourself a little further every time. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  16. If it's spraying a bit heavy (thick), I would start by thinning it out a bit more. You can also adjust the spread by moving the AB a little further away for a broader spray pattern. I have not used Vallejo paints in particular, so my comments are more of a a general nature. Regarding the Vallejo, are you using the Flow Improver in your mix? https://acrylicosvallejo.com/en/producto/hobby/auxiliaries-model/airbrush-flow-improver-71262/ I've heard it helps prevent the paint drying on the tip and can also improve the leveling effectiveness of the paint. I've considered dabbling in the Vallejo paints...but I've got way to much stock in the Testors Model Master line right now.
  17. One step closer. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Though I did manage to knock over the bottle of Micro-Sol. ๐Ÿ™„
  18. With so many excellent topics, it's far too easy to get in over your head. That always seems to be my case. ๐Ÿคฃ
  19. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ It'll probably be like real life...blown up before even getting off the ground. ๐Ÿ˜†
  20. Fingers crossed the matte coat works like you're hoping. I suspect it will be fine, I used to do that all the time in the past w/ spraybombs (gloss > decals > matte) and it always seemed to work out. Looks right tidy though! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
