  1. Hi brtimodeller gang What are the rules re- group builds? ie, start dates, finish dates ect ect.
  2. Personally it will take me longer than 3 month to do the echelon kit I'd have only cut out the thing in that time. I'll be hard pressed to even do the trumpeter kit.
  3. Ok ive thought about this and its going to be a 1/32 Trumpeter lightning F6. XP693 All natural metal finish O/W tanks 56 Sqdn markings . Maybe even flashing lights not decided on that tho. Got the kit, the aries pit and wheel wells, the decals. And the flashing light kit. So I'm ready for the start. Dave.
  4. Just wait for the sanger release.
  5. Personally I dont think it nessasary to strengthen the outer wing joints as they are not stressed. The model weight falls on the inner wing and its a one piece unit. As long as you get the outer wing angle correct that should suffice. Thats my opinion for what its worth. It's a very good kit though. Dave
  6. Yes bill its a beauty. With aires doing the resin parts for the Trumpeter Lightning its only natural to try to incorporate it into a much more dimensionally accurate model. We have to try to produce a much more accurate looking lightning F6. How your echelon lightning F6 doing? Is it finished? . Do you get to Telford?. Dave
  7. Too right bill but to add further to this debate if you use the Aires burner cans you avoid the weighty echelon white metal burner cans. Hmmmmm its a conundrum . Personally I would go with the Aires cockpit in the Echelon lightning im pretty sure it can be made to fit. I just might take a while to sand it down.
  8. Hi bill the problem there is that the echelon seat is white metal so adds valuable weight to the nose . I feel a tail sitter would result if you us the aries seat. Decisions decisions.
  9. Yes sorry . Ive got a few echelon lightnings in the stash, ive dont a few over the years too . I dont think you will have any problems with the Aires pit fitting in the echelon kit. I have aires pits ready for my echelon kits they are exellent also the burner cans are wonderful too and the fit is very good. Dave.
  10. The Aires burner cans do. infact they fit better that in the Trumpeter kit. As for the cockpit yes I would think that they can be made to fit . But the undercarriage bays dont which is a shame. Well maybe with a lot of hard work they may fit. Are you going to start an in progress thread with you trumpeter lightning build?. Hope so . Love the lightning. Dave
  11. If only Airfix did them in 1/32 scale. I can but dream.
  12. Hi patrick I bought you British F4 vol 2 at Telford I got vol 1 last year. Now I'd like one on the Lightning. Pretty please. Dave
  13. Ah a lightning group build must partake in this. Now let me see shall I do the 1/32 Trumpeter F3 , F6 or the 1/32 Echelon F6 decisions decisions. Dave.
  14. Hi if you pm me I'll email you some crackin photos I took at bruntingthorpe. Its the avpin tank and electronic boxes you are after right? Dave.
  15. Ive bought and built 2 of these kits i'm now waiting for the sanger offering ive already had the decal sheet for it so I can repaint the tired looking aeroclub kit. I had flashing lights on the second vulcan but after id built it they failed so I removed the battety holder and sealed up the access hatch. It amazes me that when the kit was available no one wanted it now you can't get hold of one for love nor money everyone wants it. Funny old world isn't it. Dave
  16. Well I took your advice and joined fliker and got exactly the same error message . Something isn't allowing me to post my photos on any forums, weird as I've posted other photos of my builds. Ive cancelled my photo bucket account and took of the one photo on flicker so soon all my photos will disappear from this site. I hate technology. Lol. maybe I'll have a go again someday but at the moment I really can't be arsed with it. Happy modelling boys.
  17. Hi again it seems I'm having problems with Photo bucket and this forum First I couldn't upload photos to photo bucket so after a lot of downloading and tweaking I get it working again only to find this forum now says I cant download my pictures to this community . So I ain't going to bother with it, I have better things to do like make models . Sorry if you where looking forward to seeing this Lightning get finished. But if you are a regular modelshow goer then you'll probably see me and my lightning there. Cheers.
  18. Hi tyler Nice lookin lightning you have there. Ive build quite a few over the years all in 32nd scale I just love em. But modelling is about enjoyment sod the accuracy if it doesn't bother you. What ifs make a career out of it. Lol Dave
  19. Boys you seem to be forgetting that sanger are bringing out a 1/48th scale vulcan and maybe a victor. Keep your 300 quid in your pocket and wait for sangers offering.
  20. Hi modeling chums back to the project in hand XR769 repaint. I've decided to re-code it as XR728 JS of the Lightning Preservation Group as I've already done XS904 BQ. As you can see from my last photo the old paint has well and truly been stripped . So next to add the new paint scheme. First the Medium sea Grey undersides, Barley Grey is yet to be added to the underside of the wings. When it was dry Dark Sea Grey was sprayed to the upper fuselage . Screw hole's to be filled with paint to highlight them later. That's it for now your comments please. Dave
  21. Hi chaps I've been a busy boy these last few weeks . Here's the update, As from my last post the engine is nicely tucked up in the fuselage, Now to put on the wings. The wings are glued together with the Aires undercarriage bays in situ . Only a bit of fettling is needed to encourage the Aires sets to sit neatly into the wings. See pic below. As soon as the wings had dried I applied some detail in the form of strengthening strips see picture below. That's it for now . As well as this build I'm also doing other modelling projects all Lightnings brilliant. Dave
  22. Hi As a numerous lightning builder both Echelon and Trumpeter I've been watching this thread with much interest . I've also had the honour of chatting and displaying one of my echelon lightnings on your table at Telford last year. You have done a fantastic job so far in turning a very sub standard kit and may I say expensive one of a much loved and missed aircraft into a proper looking model. I will definitely buy a correction kit from you no matter what the cost. Keep up the Exellent work see you at telford 2013. Dave
  23. Now that the engine is in the plane I thought I'd attack the large engine panel whether I use it on the plane or put it on the floor it needs some interior detail. So armed with a selection of photos I got started using a trumpeter riveter tool. I drew out the rows of rivets with a sharp pencil then with a metal rule I marked out the rivets with the said tool. Then with plasticard I made various other bits and glued them into the panel see pic below I'm happy with the result. Just a bit more detail to add then to paint it and done. I'm enjoying this build Thanks for the interest guys Dave.
  24. Ha ha one is enough besides you Cant see no 1 engine. Unless you pick up the model and thats a no no . Lol.
