  1. A kit pulled from the "shelf of doom" circa 2005! The kit had been in storage (along with others) from many, many years. It was rescued along with my other belongings two years ago. I decided to build a few 1:144 scale kits recently and this was one of them. Trumpeter 1:144 scale F-86F Sabre in Pakistan Air Force markings circa the 1965 Indo-Pakistan War. The model was painted with Tamiya and Testors Acrylic paints. Decals are courtesy of I-94 Enterprises. The base is an oval piece of wood with a tarmac printed out and glued on.
  2. Thanks gents for all the kind comments. That kit had been in my stash for about 15 years and I figured it was time to finally get it on the shelf!
  3. Finished this one a few months ago. Airfix 1/72 scale Gazelle Helicopter in Syrian Air Force markings with captured Israeli Air Force markings. This example was a machine that was captured by the Israelis during the 1982 Bekka Valley conflict. Decals are from the kit (warning labels) and the insignias and numbers are from I-94 Enterprises. The figure is from the spares box and the kit was painted with Testors Acrylics.
  4. Thanks everyone for the comments. Dave: Though the markings are fairly plain Jane,I built this unit as a nod to my new home state of Ohio. (I moved here two years ago to get married.) I too plan on building a few more Ohio Air Guard aircraft as well with a F-100 being at the top of the list.
  5. Here's my completed Airfix 1/72 F-84F Thunderstreak in the markings of the Ohio ANG of the 162nd TFS circa 1968. A desktop style of display for this classic kit. Testors acrylic paint for the Camoflauge on the topside (hand painted) was used with Testors Camoflauge Gray (in a rattle can) for the underside. I used Tamiya Primer Gray for priming and Testors Intermediate Blue (once again in a rattle can) for the stand. The markings came from the Blackbird Models excellent US Air National Guard Pt. 1 sheet. Their decals were some of the best I've ever used and went on very smoothly with no issues whatsoever. Despite the age of the kit (1974 vintage) it went together well overall with only the clear parts being a bit problematic to apply.
  6. Thanks for the comments gents! I too would love to see Airfix produce a new series of F-4's and please Airfix, give us a really fantastic F-4 K/M kit!
  7. Super nice! Being a F-16 fan I always like seeing different color schemes on them.
  8. This is the old Airfix F-4 Phantom kit completed in a C/D configuration. I built it OOB gear up and placed on a stand from the Hawk/Testors F-84F kit. Paints were the Tamiya Spray series (plus Testors and Pactra) and the decals were a mix of Hi-Decal for the main markings and Micro-Scale and Scale-Master for the others. Considering the age of the model (this was from the Airfix/Craftmaster tooling) it went together decently enough. The markings are for a U.S. Air Force Reserve unit based at Bergstrom AFB (Austin,Texas) in the 1980's.
  9. Very nice and sharp looking paint job. How is the fit of the Airfix kit?
  10. Beautiful job on that and I really like seeing it in flight attitude.
