1:48 Fairchild Republic Thunderbolt II - Warthog by GWH
baldwin8 replied to Greg B's topic in The Rumourmonger
Thank you for pointing that out. I checked the linked YouTube video and interestingly, the all the other posters videos all feature GWH products. I didn't need a GWH A-10 anyway. -
FineMolds released news of missing parts tree "E" on their F-15C release. Use your favourite translator, but from what I read, customers to contact FineMolds to get the missing parts tree sent to them. Their office is closed for customer inquiries until January 9th. https://finemolds.co.jp/F-15C_Eparts.html And here is the missing tree "E"

Already a number of releases, but wondering if the larger tail TA152 will come soon. Ooops, just read the previous post.

I will try to answer your questions the best I can. - There is a good chance Messerschmitt used the same design principles from their later 109 series as on the 410 for the radiator flaps operation. Which if I remember correctly used temp sensors to determine the opening. Now you have me checking their operation. - The horizontal tail section has elevators that are drooping. Many aircraft had gust locks to keep damaging gusty winds from moving the flight controls when static on the ground. Two gust locks I am familiar with are blocks that fit on the actual flight controls themselves or a device for the controls in the cockpit. - Normally the leading edge slats would be extended on the ground but keep in mind there is nothing normal when talking about aircraft, especially in wartime. I hope this helps. Waiting for my kit on it's way from Hannants via Royal Mail.

@Sabrejet could confirm, the term "spring loaded" does not imply there are any springs involved. Simply airload pushing them closed and gravity, G force, lack of airflow or angle of attack, allowing them to depoly.

My just completed car kit, a diversion from the usual aircraft with the challenge of a gloss finish. No clear coat, just polishing. Quite nice details and definitely recommend it. Only the side windows cut out as a deviation from the instructions. My knowledge of Porsches and the 911 was pretty much zero before this build.

Thank you @Roel_D. In the link, at the bottom is also an accessory, NA16, for the formation and chaff/flare parts. In the instructions for NA16, it specifies parts USAF F-15s. So lets hope more releases will follow. The parts and the built up model look mouth watering, interesting to see comparisons to the other 72nd Eagle kits already available.

Beautiful airbrush work to make this a winner. -
Beautiful work you've done on still one of the best F-5 kits.

Esci F-5A: still the best after 40 years!
baldwin8 replied to Giorgio N's topic in The Italian Job GB
I spent a few short years working on the CF-5, and we had a small number of Recce noses that could be swapped, and once mounted the aircraft usually had it left on for several months. Since not a permanent installation we just called it a recce bird for quick ID. The cameras were pointed downward and to my knowledge couldn't be used for air-to-air shots. @Giorgio N , thank you for reminding of this great kit by ESCI. Good luck. -
From @finemolds_news on Twitter. Translated from Japanese by Google "The F-15 vertical tail that I uploaded a test shot the other day. It is an integral part with the base, and there is a panel line on the base just like the actual machine, but there is no step. In addition, the differences in details between the initial specifications and JMSIP are also reproduced. In the 4th photo, the panel line that is "not" a cross like the actual machine is a key point for me personally" I do like how the vertical tail is attached to the fuselage, an improvement over the Hasegawa.

Agreed Giorgio, Air-Graphics has some resin either available or soon to be released for this kit as well. Kit decals look good, but options would be nice. My kit arrived on the 4th and I will comment about the panel lines. They look heavy in the photos, but these are quite deep compared to some other manufacturers so the lighting and effects of image processing makes them worse than they really are. The seat is not bad at all but with decal harness. Thank you Italeri, a second purchase is likely for me.

Here is photo of a PW1500 series, which should be close to help match. This engine is quite new but the paint does fade with use.

One of my assembly disappointments of the Kinetic AMX, was the landing gear. Looks like Italeri did a reasonable job. Good luck with your build.

1/72 Mitsubishi F-2A & F-2B by Fine Molds - F-2A & F-2B Released
baldwin8 replied to Stilwell's topic in The Rumourmonger
This product is available through HobbySearch Japan has the tank plus outboard wing station, which are not in the kit. The FineMolds kit wheels are excellent but they are included in this 3D printed package made for the Hasegawa and FineMolds F-2. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10897533 Thank you @Gene K for the link. I've bought through Booth.pm, something like Etsy in Japan. Here is just the centerline tank. https://raf.booth.pm/items/4004310 Hope this helps. -
1/72 Mitsubishi F-2A & F-2B by Fine Molds - F-2A & F-2B Released
baldwin8 replied to Stilwell's topic in The Rumourmonger
I will go out on a limb and say no. The photos I've seen of the aircraft do not show it installed and quite likely this release was simply a pile of kits manufactured from the original release. HobbySearch usually shows all the sprues included in a kit but does not show this kit this way. -
1/72 Mitsubishi F-2A & F-2B by Fine Molds - F-2A & F-2B Released
baldwin8 replied to Stilwell's topic in The Rumourmonger
The Veer Guardian joint exercise was a big deal in Japan so I wasn't surprised that FineMolds decided to feature it with a special release. -
Sorry bout dat, me and grammar never sat very close in my school days, I was more the art and history kind of guy when I wasn't day dreaming. Here are some in-progress work. I found the top of the vertical tail leading edge extension rather blunt, so I added some stretched sprue to help reshape to a sharper edge. The Hasegawa fuselage has a Omega shape to it, noticeable just above the wings which required fill and sanding. Their nose landing gear lower section is fictional and reminds me of something cobbled together by a museum, maybe @Sabrejet could identify where they may have got this mixed up with. Model cockpits always seem to look too spacious so the de-mister tubes on either side of the cockpit sills added, made simply with a riveting wheel on scrape plastic. Thank you @gingerbob for the more direct link. But definitely check out his other models works for some tasty eye candy.

I will call this one Would have, Could have, Should have(edit). Started later 2022 and rested in my Halfway house of models before being dusted off and finished just in the last few weeks. Thank you's go to @Steve in Ottawa @Sabrejet and @Gene K for advice, guidance and encouragement. Always appreciated. As well a modelling Yoda http://soyuyo.main.jp/index.html whose in depth study of the Hasegawa kit was valuable to this build. Decals are Leading Edge with stencils from Gene. Thank you for viewing and comments always welcome.

I've got mine on order from Aviation Megastore as well. Only seen the AMX first person once in the late 90s at a Maple Flag in Cold Lake. Recalled reading about the aircraft early on in old Air Internationals. Tough to decide on which scheme, all four look great.
