  1. received the kit from Alistair at Aerocraft. First impressions ... waw, this may well be a game changer for this type of model with regards detail and buildability.

I will document my build as i go and post it up on a build thread

some reference material re the type ... TSR.2 Research Group  https://www.facebook.com/media/set?set=oa.529536945256583&type=3

    cheers, Joe

  2. ... and they still haven't improved after a couple of decades of modellers frustrations since Igor's first releases, i really really really should know better :(

Just took delivery of a couple via Hannants, completely unusable (moulds are definitely scrap) and moulded in what looks like honeycomb candy (or moisture contaminated resin) with vague shapes and anything small only of use for reference

Ah well gives me a renewed incentive to scratchbuilt instead, any modeller could achieve better with a couple hours tinkering with a block of tooling resin and some styrene

  3. nit picking, as I'm as happy as everyone else for a new Buccaneer kit, comparing the old and new kits (no comparison really) the wing fences on the older kit actually show a more accurate shape and are thinner than the rectangular blocks moulded on the recent kit. theres a prominent NACA intake missing on the upper engine shoulders too, the under surface has it depicted accurately (easily added with a scriber and scalpel) theres a few 'odd' raised panels which would benefit from paring down in thickness too to match photos, eg inner wing and just fwd of the airbrakes

  4. STOP PRESS, new release from 'Avalon Decals' avaliable for pre order now, Suomen Ilmavoimat Hawk decal sheets in 72 & 48 scales, first impressions are very good indeed with markings to recreate pretty much any Hawk aircraft in Finnish service in the types various colour schemes :)

    cheers, Joe

  5. hiyas, the trim lines and titling of WG774 whilst in the mauve scheme was actually a cream shade (it was white on WG777 when painted blue tho) if you are doing a decals set for the FD.2 I would very much like to purchase a sheet too as it has been on my to build list for quite some time

    many thanks, Joe Cherrie

  6. iv been trying to find colour specifications/markings references for the Westland Commando helicopters supplied to Egypt during the 1980's, theres quite a few photographs in various publications, usually of pre delivery airframes but as yet i have not found a note of what shade of 'sand' was used or the undersurface 'grey'

any assistance would be very appreciated, many thanks, Joe :)

  7. stunning profiles, be amazing to see a lineup in all the schemes at Telford sometime. Heres hoping you add to your neat 'Midnight Hawk' artwork with an example in the current grey scheme with underwing smoke pods, and possibly others in the original 'high vis' wavy lower demarcation scheme as well as the ex Swiss examples (the first being pretty much the same as recieved with finnish roundels applied over the Swiss markings)

If you wanted iv lots of detail piccies showing colours and markings which might be of use

    again brilliant profiling, cheers, Joe

  8. Hi John, just wondering, do you do the letters in 'light' and 'heavy' forms for possible overlaying? quite a few of my 1930's builds have silver outlined lettering, iv managed to get away with inside painting your silver decals previously but wondering if theres an easier route

    cheers, Joe
