Sadly no I built it many years ago.

Ok thank you for your comments, it was a Revell Tornado F3 1/32 scale the early kit, I drilled out the instrument clusters on the cockpit panels, I then put clear plasticard behind it, then I used instrument decals from Hannants and attached them, next I placed a wheat grain bulb behind them, already painted green to give the glow through the dials, I sealed the bulb inside a box. I then fitted navigation and colision lights, as well as landing lights. I can go into all the wiring details in another post if you like, but my plan is to build another 1/32 Revell Tomcat, I built one before with all its lights working, on a stand and powered by a plug in transformer, the wiring went up through the inside of the stand. I have a photo of it but the lights are not on as took the photo during the day, if you want me to post it here I will. Cheers Guys

Sorry for the quality will explain all once you have decided which it is.

Ok folks I am going to post a photo of a tornado f3 the photo is the only one I have, the trick is, is it a real one, the photo is vague as it was a night shot, also the photo is old. Cheers

Dragon 1:32 Me109E-4 - Something A Little Different...
wizard4 replied to Spence's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Go to the top of the class lovely model. -
Very nice I have had my eye on one of these as i think they are great aircraft, im hoping to get my hands on an original Monogram kit as it came with a retractable undercarraige. Anyway well done Cheers

Absolutely astonishing detail, well thought out and presented, surely a winner in any competition. Congratulations

Very nice well done Cheers

Ok so construction, the hull is GRP I bought that, the same company supplied the grp deck as well as the main turrets and secondary turrets, they supplied the bare fighting tower and bare structure, as well as the funnel, I sourced the rest of the fittings, the modeller then has to fit the running gear, and electronics, the next stage is to make the complicated shapes that make up the fighting tower, the barbettes for the main 18" turrets and 6.5" turrets, the hardest part is to make the aircraft catapults, and the crane, as all the frett is cut out by hand from plasticard, so 2 years to build, and another year tweaking the ballast etc. In essence there is so much that has to be made from scratch.Thankyou all for your likes and comments, I will try and post more photos if you like. Cheers Ray

She was I say was as I no longer have her 9ft-1" long 17" beam all up ballast weight was 126lbs for ballast I built two water tanks which I filled with pond water via a caravan water pump, same method to empty them, plus lead weights and four large 12volt Jelly batteries two for power and two for ballast these were in the stern.

This Yamato with HMS Kelly both the same scale, oh and a larger scale U Boat in the background. No aircraft forgot them again

I have moved on since that photo will post another. Cheers

I should point out that for some reason I had not fitted the crane, catapults and aircraft, probably forgot to bring them to the pond that day. Cheers

Just an update contacted Humbrol or actually Hornby and they are arranging to have the tins of paint collected next Tuesday, so will see what happens. Cheers
-
Hi guys i know its not a plastic kit but I did build a model in 1/96 of Yamato if you like I am happy to post phot's of it if it's appropriate. Cheers
-
What can I say guys incredible response, I am going to have a chat with my friend John as he uses some of the other makes of paint you have suggested, he is a serious tank modeller, but uses the spray gun, i'm still in the brush era. I will contact Humbrol and see what they say. I suppose the downside of the Frog Gannet is it's undercarraige, especially the nose wheel section as the legs glue onto the outside of the fuselage, with tiny doors, so I will make some up and tuck the legs inside them. I have loaded one photo onto photobucket, just got to figure it out to transfer it here, read the FAQ but i'm a bit thick. Anyway I now have the decals on the port side of the fuselage folks, if nothing else I don't give up easily. Although i confess working on 1/72 is very fiddly compared to the 1/96 Battleship I built of Yamato that was 9ft long. I will post photos of that in the appropriate part of the forum. Cheers Ray

Yes I did Ace I have four tins the same colour and they are all the same, I even have problems with their matt white its just not covering properly meaning even after 3 coats its still not enough. Cheers
-
Hi guys I am having real problems with Humbrol paint I am using, it's supposed to be matt, but looks like satin and is just staying sticky, anybody else having this problem, so I see no point in posting photo's yet Cheers

Your absolutely correct Martin, the kit itself whilst basic compared to the latest versions on the market. it has very fine detail and that should not be under stated, the thing about Frog is that they generally made kits of aircraft that were not being manufactured by Airfix etc, so as in the case of the Gannet, it was the only way to get one to the best of my knowledge. I like how you have worked around the model Adrian, full marks for not converting it as I have done, I will see about posting picks of mine soon. Cheers Ray
