  1. Gives one hope that we might yet see a Linke Hoffmann R1 in 1/72 - evenm 1/144 would be good. Paul
  2. Very interesting comparison with the Bv,P.212 in terms of wing area. Paul
  3. This is a beautiful and more important - ACCURATE depiction of what the H.X / PRojekt X would actually have looked like. It really does reflect the original documentation - note the prone pilot position and unusual undercarriage - ALL CORRECT - fabulous. Paukl (lomgtime Horten researcher)
  4. I have found the time to trawl my library, including Dan Sharp's exce;;ent recent Me262 book. Note Dan works only from original documents. Also looked at threads on the topic of HG/IV which is the same as HG/III/3. Basically, no one has found any original evidence or drawings of an HG variant with cockpit in the fin ............. its just a fantasy. Paul
  5. Well said Bob - in fact the forward sweep He162 would also have needed the main bulkhead reocating to pick up the wing mounting points. In addition to fabtasy projects - what about fantasy designations ?????? These confusions don't help people to develop a grasp on aviation history - don't get me wrong - I don't have a problem with fantasy modelling but I do wish manufacturers would clearly label what they produce - German aircraft - German aircraft project, German aircraft proposed variant - fantasy. Paul
  6. At the time I don't think area rule was understood. Yes this appears in lots of books but there are quite a few German projects or variants that have appeared in many publications, for which there is no hard evidence. Its frustrating when models are sold and the average modeller assumes they are based in reality. A good example is the recent He162 variants - the two seater bears no resemblence to the real thing. Paul
  7. Another very interesting model from Amusing Hobby. Flitzer was quite a well developed project and not a mere sdesign study. If Amusing Hobby reads this forum can I draw your attention to the Henschel Hs.132 which was partly built at the end of the war but there is no 1/48 model of it available. Paul
  8. Great to see the V-tail version being available but I would like to question HG.III/3. Although it has appeared in a number of books, I do not recall ever seeing an ORIGINAL Messerschmitt drawing of this design. I am happy to be proved wrong but can anyone provide real evidence that this is anything more than a postwar fantasy ? Paul
  9. Simple - the sketch is from a document prepared at Farnborough after the Hortens interrogation, drawn by the English . Paul
  10. Kris, surprisingly the book Nurflugel has many factual errors and distortions. Your renders are very well done, I admire your skill but you were not to know that the material you were using, was incorrect. Sadly, all things Horten are a minefield. However I hope that I can help. I have sent you a personal message with my contact details. Paul
  11. The H.X Delta and the H.X shown in the images, are two different designs. Note that in Argentina, Reimar Horten designed three hang gliders called H.Xa, H.Xb and H.Xc. The H.X shown in the images, seems to be based on a very inaccurate drawing that surprisingly appeared in the Horten ? Selinger book Nurflugel. Gert Heumann produced an airbrush drawing based on this and this apparently inspired the entry in Luft 46. At some point post-war, the H.X was referred to as H.X Volksjager, yet it was only proposed in March 1945. Myths are hard to kill and I would invite My3Dbase to contact me, so an accurate model can be produced, based on original information.. Paul
  12. Is there any news of their 1/32 Arado Ar234 or has that been shelved ? Paul
  13. A simple internet search for Me.P.1101 Oberammagau, will give a few more photos in its original location. Note that with the exception of the image with one officder and 7 women next to the 1101, I think that all other colour ashots are 'colourised; unless someone knows better. What a pity that this nice model did not offer the option of an exposed engine. It is said that this airframe was fitted with a non operative HeS.011 engine that was replaced with a Jumo 004 for flight testing (the HeS.011 was still under development. Can anyone confirm what is correct or if it is a poor translation for - intended to be fitted with an 004 ? Is it an 004 or HeD.011 we see in these images ? Paul
  14. Much appreciate the heads up. Is your build review for a magazine or will it be online ? and can you flag it up when it's available ? Are these kits likely to be around for 6 months or longer ? after some very heavy model expenditure, I could do wit deferring a purchase but I don't want to miss one . Cheers Paul
  15. Fair point Col - in some respects I wonder if there is a market for 1/6 cockpits ? Paul
  16. A 1/24 Me262 ??????? I am sure it will sell but sheer size and lack of shelf space might limit sales. Surely the smaller but equally popular Me.163 and He.162 would sell better for that reason alone ? Paul
  17. Hi, think its Scalemates registering the one you found on Ebay. Despite its limitations, it does seem the only game in town though. Paul
  18. Back to the Eduard kit - it would be nice if they did the carrier based Ju87C with some decent wing-fold detail. Paul
  19. Hi Matford, confusingly the designation H.X was used for the H.X delta, the H.X wrongly referred to as Volksjager and to three foot-launched hang gliders designed in Argentina in the 1950's H.Xa, H.Xb and H.Xc . This kit reminds me of something Sharkit produced (?) which resembled a single engined H.IX/Ho229 - as far as I know, a fantasy. Blackbirds kit has a straight leading edge and a curved trailing edge that ends in the so called bat-tail. This is nothing like the dual sweepback plan in Luft 46, which is vaguely correct. The lovely fuselage cross section drawn by Justo Miranda is unfortunate;y entirely speculative and incorrect. The real H.X had a prone pilot position ! I do wish such drawings were clearly labelled as speculative as Justo does do some good stuff. The real H.X can be seen here on Secret Projects forum. To resolved some confusion, the book Nurflugel, written by Reimar Horten and Peter Selinger, contains a highly inaccurate postwar drawing !! It certainly wasn't called Volksjager at the time and was in fact called Projekt X https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/attachments/hx-initial-jpg.546487/https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/attachments/hx-initial-jpg.546487/https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/attachments/hx-initial-jpg.546487/ The Secrets Projects drawing is the real deal and accompanied a project description and performance calculations - these exist in original documents microfilmed in 1945. It is such a shame that companies are missing the opportunity to kit 'genuine' projects. A 1/72 kit of the two seat Ho229B (as done by Dragon in 1/48) would certainly sell or indeed the proposed production version of the single seater, the V6 (which had a bulged underside compared to the one in the Smithsonian) - in both cases see the Arthur Bentley drawings - likewise for the real H.XVIII with four engines and fixed wheel spats (i.e. NOT the Modellcollect /Fist of War kit which was a superceded project). For small manufacturers the opportunities are out there - yet to be kitted - H.I, H.II, H.V (one version produced in tiny numbers by Fruitbat) H.VI H.VIII, H.XII, H.XIV and finally the distinctive Parabel. Now Sharkit are out of production, no H.III is available. Matford, thanks for highlighting the nice HeS.011 - anyone want this kit minus the engine ? Paul
  20. Is this a fantasy model or based on a Horten drawing that I haven't seen before. Paul
  21. Great find ! clearly I used the wrong search words when I tried scalemates. I was only 1/3 wrong - an Alison not an 003. Odd combination though. Sharkit have stopped trading, so I don't fancy mu chances of finding one - but if anyone out there does or if someone wants to sell just the HeS.011, I'm your man. Paul
  22. Thanks for the link to the excellent resource ! Certainly all the photographic material you could wish for. I will confess to wanting an off the shelf solution that just needed a little detailing, rather than a very basic carcass. Its a real shame the superb Pepelatz 1/72 one doesn't seem to be available. However, I am sure that I have seen the 003, 004 and 011, offered by someone as a triple kit - Sharkit maybe ? Paul
