  1. Thanks guys! Here's a rear view. Seems much more bulky from this angle – something I really like about this armour:
  2. Just finished my Bandai Death Trooper this afternoon. Another tremendous kit and it went together so easily. I think this armour looks even better in white than in the original black version. Thanks for looking!
  3. 1999.co.jp has the R4-I9 kit listed already, and the text suggests that the cone head droid comes boxed with the drinks serving accessories for R2, but not with a second astromech unit. One droid and an accessory in a box for around ¥1800 seems a little more expensive than the previous kits... https://www.1999.co.jp/10544714
  4. Wow, I suddenly remember having those as well now you mention them! Those and the Action Man "Depth Charge" bath salts and a "Dynamite" soap on a rope! Pretend explosives for kids...simpler times, indeed!
  5. Absolutely amazing! I wonder how many people are now frantically checking in the attic or under the floor looking for empty crisp packets...
  6. More details on TAG Hobby about the droid kits. Apparently the first box includes R4-I9 and R2-D2 with the "drinks serving accessories" from Jabba's Sail Barge! So it seems there are two droid kits in this box as per previous releases: http://www.taghobby.com/archives/289629 Then the second kit announced is only R2 with many different accessories: http://www.taghobby.com/archives/289102
  7. Thanks! Yes, it was quite a pain!
  8. Thanks guys! That's the best thing about Bandai kits – they're so easily customised!
  9. I decided to try something a little different with my Bandai Shoretrooper: a camouflage scout version. As with all their kits, this was an absolute pleasure to assemble and I'm really happy with the result. Thanks for looking!
  10. Hi all, I finally managed to finish my Bandai TIE Fighter that I started many months ago. I wanted to do something a little different, so I tried to create one that has a replacement port-side 'wing'. The base was entirely scratch-built out of a large bottle top, an old PEZ dispenser, two pens and some parts from a Tamiya 1/35 King Tiger. Thanks for looking!
  11. Fantastic! Looks like a great christmas decoration!
  12. General Grievous was just announced today – to be released in July: http://bandai-hobby.net/sw/jp/products/grievous.html
  13. While we wait for Bandai to release a B-Wing, I thought I'd have a go at rebuilding and repainting the F-Toys 1/144 version I bought a couple of years ago. The kit is generally very sharp, with the exception of the cockpit section, which is moulded in quite a brittle clear plastic, that doesn't react well to glue. Overall though, it's really nice and it was easy to strip down and rebuild. I just wish I could find the other F-Toys Star Wars vehicles. They did a TIE Interceptor, TIE Bomber and even a Lambda Class Shuttle. I'd just love to get my hands on one of those!
  14. Madmonk that base looks outstanding! Any idea of a rough price? I'm definitely interested!
  15. Looks like you're off to an excellent start. I have one in my stash and I'm itching to get going with it!
  16. Another new small-scale kit is scheduled for February release – a twin set of an Episode 7 TIE together with the TIE Advanced. Looks as good as always! http://www.1999.co.jp/10437167
  17. Andy, can I ask whether you thinned the AK Xtreme Metal when you airbrushed it? If so, did you use their own brand thinner or just alcohol? I'm interested in trying it instead of Alclad...
  18. Andy, have you considered 0-0-0 from the Darth Vader comic? http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/0-0-0 Can I ask what you used to remove the gold plating from the plastic?
  19. Epic mash-up of all the footage released so far. 5:40 of pure joy!
  20. Hi all, I'm a long time reader but this is the first time I've uploaded any of my models. I'm a big fan of all the Star Wars canon and I was so taken with Andy Moore's U9-C4 that I decided to try my best to match his amazing standard and have a go at the same droid myself. I followed his build diligently and tried to use it as a tutorial to get used to these sic-fi kits (I usually make 1/700 scale ships...). The Bandai kit was so enjoyable that I decided to have a go at another of the droids from D-Squad. The green one, M5-BZ, was a bit more work, as I had to make his head from scratch. It was a bit tough as it's a really unusual shape...it's round at the base but changes to hexagonal at the top. It took many attempts with paper before I got the shape right. I managed to use the eyes and the base of the head from the R2 head, but the painting was a real challenge too...it took a lot of masking to get it look right. Anyway, all credit to Andy for the original idea. Thanks for looking and I hope you like my little droids!
  21. Hi all, Apologies if this has been posted before, but I just came across this quite amazing collection of old behind the scenes photos from the making of Episodes 4, 5 and 6. There are some really fabulous old-school modelling skills evident in some of these shots! http://www.vintag.es/2015/04/100-rare-color-photos-of-behind-scenes.html
