  1. I have one thing in my favour I scored 4 on the colour hue test. So hopefully I should be ok at spotting the correct colour match when I look through all the material and photo links that have been posted here. The boxartden link was a really interesting read. I ended up reading all the spitfire pages then looking at the hawker Hurricane, Messeschmit Me109, Junkers, avro lancaster learning about the history and totally forgot I was there to check the colour schemes. I have got kits for all those planes waiting to be built also.
  2. thanks all especially for the links where it has been discussed here before. Sorry for bringing up something that was already so heavily discussed. I'll do some research now to see what's going to be the best match.
  3. I have finally started on the first of my 2 spitfires a Supermarine MkII from the BBMF gift set. Looking at the colour chart it says the underwings are humbrol 90 and this is also the colour on the wheel recesses. So i did an initial coat on the wheel recesses and it seems awfully bright green ? However when I look at the pictures supplied with the kit the undercarriage / underwing colour looks more like a pale alu / grey ? On the chart is say humbrol 90 is beige green, but when you paint it on it looks too bright. Does anyone have any pictures I can use as a point of reference either from a real life MKII or a model they have done ? I have really been looking forward to building this and the last thing I want to do is make it into a day-glo airfix kit
  4. Firstly sorry for the thread revivial, but though better to bring this one back from the dead than start a new one as the question I have is on these templates. 2 questions actually 1. Is Pattern A the correct masking to use on a Supermarine Spitfire Mark ii ? as in the one that comes in the BBMF 1:72 gift set ? 2. What factor do I scale them down by to fit 1:72 scale spitfire ? on the 2nd question I did some maths but would like someone to verify 1:48 wingpsan = 232mm 1:72 wingspan = 156 (according to box measurements) factor difference is 0.672 therefore when i copy the templates do a reduction to 67.2% of the original to get the right size ? again sorry for the necro.
