    Glasgow 2023

Yea well done to everyone who made it to the Show despite Storm Babet disrupting the plans of some to be in attendance. Nice to be back at Bellahouston for the first time since Covid.
  2. Lovely little diorama. The poses and positioning of the Airfix figures complement and balance the scene wonderfully well.
  3. Are we expecting Airfix to make any announcements at 11.00am on the Saturday at Telford or not? If they are I'll make a point of being in position - if not then obviously I won't.

Yea it's always good to wait and spend your cash with the Traders who make the effort to come to the shows. I rarely buy any modelling supplies away from the Shows.

Not seen anything relating to a list of Traders anywhere. Maybe there is a Facebook page somewhere with details but I'm not on Facebook so can't comment. Information on the Glasgow show is scant to say the least.
  6. Absolutely stunning Fuad - everything about this diorama is wonderful.
  7. Seeing the floor plans doesn't half whet my appetite for going back to Telford for the first time since Covid. Thanks for posting @John Tapsell

    Glasgow 2023

While the Organisers forlornly try and track down the (probably) already melted down Trophies for this show the details of the Glasgow Modelfest are as follows; Title: GLASGOW MODELFEST 2023 Date: 21st October 2023 Location: Bellahouston Leisure Centre, Bellahouston Drive, Glasgow G52 1HH Time: 10:00am - 16:00pm Admission: £5.00, Junior and Concession £3.00, Family ticket £10..00 It's not happened for a few years but Glasgow was always a great show so get yourself along if you don't want to miss out.
  9. Brilliant bit of figure work Ray - how did you go about thinning out the shorts as it is such an improvement?
  10. Well done to the organisers, traders and model clubs for putting together a wonderful show at Murrayfield yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
  11. Reminder to all that Scale Scotland 2023 Model Show is happening THIS weekend at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh. Details above.
  12. @Rob G - how much do you really want to be there? You get to see the Manufacturers stands, you get to see the traders stalls, you get to see the Competition tables and the Club stands. You may even run into the occasional YouTube modelling star. If going to Telford stops you putting food on the table I'd say don't go but if you have enough disposable income and you are free to travel and are fit and able to come then why not?
  13. I used to go to the Leuchars airshow regularly from about the mid-2000s onwards and I am pretty sure I was at the final one but I can't say for sure. Bit lost in time if I am honest. 🤔 Your photos do bring back great memories of the base and the area and when the Tornados were still operational aircraft. Great days. 🙂
  14. @Whofan yes ok so I admit it, I embellished the truth for comedic effect 😁 Most that day were wanting to hear the announcement of a new tooled Vulcan.
  15. My experience of major manufacturers at Telford are that Tamiya never go, Italeri never go, Airfix do, Revell used to, Zoukei Moura used to as well but unsure if they are attending this year, Kotare and Kinetic both went last year, Wingnut Wings attended in 2019 before promptly going bust! Eduard were regular attenders in the years before Covid but to the best of my knowledge they've not been since. Used to get a few odds and sods manufacturers like CMK but again I am unsure if they've been back. Any manufacturer announcements come primarily from Airfix who have been known to unveil a banner. I was in position in 2018 when they revealed their 1/24 Hellcat to an expectant throng. When the modellers present realised which kit was being released they heaved a collective "meh!" Then dispersed. 😐
  16. Thanks for the responses thus far guys - although it's still a couple of months away I am looking forward to going to Telford already. It's the 60th Anniversary of the IPMS apparently. So the IPMS website says. 🙂
  17. Is it too soon for a ScaleModelWorld 2023 thread? I plan on making the show this year but ahead of my journey South I thought I would check with the Britmodellers that Telford is still pretty much as it was pre-Pandemic, which was the last time I attended. I know they've had a couple of quieter shows but I’ve got a feeling this year might be more like a traditional Telford i.e. busy! The first change that seems to have happened, for a non IPMS member like myself, is that a ticket MUST be purchased ahead of the Show. No cash sales on the door. Is this correct and does anyone know where a ticket can be bought? The Show website is below but there seems to be nothing as yet regarding ticket sales. https://ipmsuk.org/ipms-scale-modelworld/ Can I also ask if the parking is still as it was before Covid? I used to go into the Long Stay Car Park but I assume the parking in all the various locations in and around Telford are still OK? Thanks in advance for any replies added to this thread.
  18. That's a real shame reading about your wife. Please don't put any pressure on yourself if you find the emotion gets too great when you try and return to the modelling bench.
  19. Who doesn't love a North Africa Matilda? God knows I do. I am coming to the end of the Meng Rolls Royce Armoured Car painted in the Caunter scheme and I have to say I found it a bit of a pain. Looks great finished but a real chore to mask it up. Hope the Matilda isn't too tedious. Incidentally on the question of Caunter colours I have a book of colour photos of the Afrika Korps in WWII and in one photo of captured British trucks painted in the Caunter scheme one of is definitely sporting a bright blue paint. It may not have been the official scheme but it seems that a blue was used.
  20. I have that British Tank Riders set in my stash and it is one I want to do 'one day'. Looking forward to seeing how you tackle them. The Valentine is really taking shape thus far.
  21. Beautiful little scene. I think you've got the perfect amount of space around everything. Love it.
  22. What a delightful scene and a fantastic piece of modelling. Really like this. So much to take in.
